Conservative Krauthammer Gives Up On McCain

Krauthammer's Hail Mary Rule: You get only two per game. John McCain, unfortunately, has already thrown three. The first was his bet on the surge, a deep pass to David Petraeus who miraculously ran it all the way into the end zone.

Then, seeking a game-changer after the Democratic convention, McCain threw blind into the end zone to a waiting Sarah Palin. She caught the ball. Her subsequent fumbles have taken the sheen off of that play, but she nonetheless invaluably solidifies his Republican base.

When the financial crisis hit, McCain went razzle-dazzle again, suspending his campaign and declaring he'd stay away from the first presidential debate until the financial crisis was solved.

He tempted fate one time too many.

Glad to see that he finally saw the light and realizes who is the better candidate. I don't usually pay much attention to what he has to say, but this time at least he's right - MC is too risky in his life and would be so with the government and our lives. That's something I sure don't want.

As far as really knowing the candidate as Krauthamer chides in his concluding paragraph, I don't know the real McCain. He is a bundle of contradictions wrapped in war-hero tissue paper.

I see conservative thinkers saying that they think Obama can, may, or will win. What I would like to hear them say is what I believe, that he is the better person for the job and that he should win for that reason.

I still find Charles Krauthammer abominable, but the fact that he analogized Obama to Reagan (which, for a Republican, is like saying that someone is more fantastic than Jesus and almost as fantastic as Jack Nicklaus) means that McCain should just pack his bags and pick one of his thirteen houses to go home to.

I am glad he is saying what many people know already but the Obama camp cannot afford to be in the least unrelenting in their attacks.

They need to have people everywhere even though it may not seem like it.

These reports are important. There are yellow dog signs which not like mission accomplished show that we will get somewhere. This will never be a Gore and Bush race decided in the courts. There is a big chance we have SEEN to settle this election at the polls.

No matter where we are in the country.... we must vote for change. Yellow dogs or not.

The only person who "switched" to McCain was Rothschild, but I'd hardly call her a liberal. She hasn't earned the right to be counted in a group that I'm in, and I doubt she ever will.
