McCain Camp Admits Palin Got Homeowner Protections Position Wrong

ABC News:

Sarah Palin got her facts wrong in Thursday's debate with Joe Biden when discussing where John McCain stands on new protections for homeowners facing foreclosures.

The Alaska governor incorrectly made it sound like McCain supports giving bankruptcy judges the power to rewrite mortgage payment terms on first homes.

He doesn't.

The McCain campaign confirms to ABC News that Palin misstated McCain's position.

The debate was controlled by Palin. She changed the questions and answered what she wanted and Gwen was silent. ANyway, when she hosted the last VP debate before this one she was the same way.

When they came after her, the Obama camp should have gone after them so she had some protection. Maybe she would have moderated better if she did not watch her windows all day and night knowing the Repubs were watching her every moves. Oh, come on now, you know they did!

Well, its back to the greens and dirty laundry if it can be found in the mess.

What I heard yesterday was that while bankrupcy Judges can NOT modify a Primary Mortgage they can modify a Secondary mortgage . The person seemed to imply that this would mean vacation Homes would be Secondary mortgages but I don't think that is correct .
Does anyone have any information on this ? Can a Judge modify the terms f a secondary Mortgage and if so what qualifies as a secondary mortgage ? I thought that would be a Home Equity Loan

I believe this refers to 1st & 2nd loans. Most people take out 2 loans on one property, a first and a second. The second is usually only a percentage of the first...the first covering the bulk of the value.

Nope-It really does refer to homes-For example, McCain could not receive financial assistence on his primary residence, but could for his other 9-It makes no sense, but that's actually part of the bankruptcy bill Bush got passed by the Republican congress-Another part says we can no longer declare bankruptcy due to extraordinary medical expenses-So if you just have one house or your child gets cancer or you're seriously injured in an automobile accident, tough-Btw, they said tonight on Bill Maher's show "Real Time" that we generous American taxpayers bailed out the big 3 auto makers, GM, Ford & Chrysler to the tune of 25 billion dollars last month, with little or no fanfare-This is unprecedented-What the ---- are these people doing to our country?!

By Monday, the McCain campaign will throw another long pass. They'll keep doing it unless they find something that sticks. Then they'll burrow in. They'll keep doing it even if their negatives continue to rise. It makes no difference.

It seems like some of these characters who are building strategies for the campaign are saying, "Hell, let's go for broke. If we don't succeed, we're going to jail anyway."
