I kept expecting him to say

An image of old man appeared from nowhere and whispered in the conductor's ear. "My name is Dick. Just stay the course John, I' m sure you can make it." The left eye of this man winked as he continued to say " I know the builder of that bridge and it is safe."

Weeks later after the crash a young inspector wearing a blue trench coat came to my office. He said to just call him Barry. He told me that he had completed his investigation of a train wreck that happened weeks earlier. He said " I know who built that bridge....­that famous bridge to nowhere." He reached inside his coat and pulled out a very thick envelope and gave it to me. I quickly opened the envelope and pulled out the contents. My eyes dropped with sadness as I saw the name of that bridge builder.
