There were SEVERAL times that the sentences she completed were so MANGLED that they were rendered useless. Her statement about answering the questions or not was a hit on both Ifill and Biden--remember, they are 'liberals' and therefore the 'enemy'. "White flag of surrender' went over like a lead balloon--won't be memorable or used again, until Tina Fey takes it and runs with it on Saturday night. Her insensitivity to Biden's near breakdown on stage was something that a DEAF person could see, and a blind person could hear. And her constant harping on ENERGY-when the discussion was about (fill in the blank) got really old really fast. And her non-acknowledgement of weaknesses

And she couldn't even discuss energy that convincingly: Biden was still able to beat her hands down on her own subject.
Sarah won. Yes, she did. She won the debate against herself, that simpering, incoherent woman sitting opposite Katie Couric, saying the bailout was all about healthcare reform or something. So how did she win --against herself? She found the ultimate out button, she simply would not answer the debate questions, she would speak from her heart (in this case, notes). Thus, freed from trifling inconveniences like staying on point, she soared--- into generalizations and campaign talking points. For some, it was more than enough. Hey, at least she's completing her sentences ( a feat my three year old is adept at ; maybe--- no it's too early to think of him going into politics).
However, in the actual debate, tthe Biden-Palin debate, there's no comparison. Biden wins hands down with a solid performance.
Wow. Very Twilight Zone, was that "debate". Biden came to debate, and to paraphrase Chris Mathews, Palin came to spell.

I agree. Palin's strength is performing a monologue (her previous speeches). She managed to convert a debate to a monologue when she dismissed Biden's call on the moderator that the Gov has not answered the question. She jsut ignored the moderator's call and said I will talk to he American people not the way the debater and the moderator expects me to answer...a
If you put her in a serious discussion settin (the Couric model) where the interviewer tells her to go back and answer the original question then she fails. I know though that she has identified her weakness so she will not set her up for failure. She will just go for live interviews and talk perky, down-home and sassy...an

I have been waiting to hear that they would bring back Northern Exposure! I loved that show! Maybe that would be the only good thing coming from the Palin pick.
With a little grade inflation kicked in, she earned a C- for the evening. Mind you, that's not bad considering what she started with in the Gibson and Couric interviews (D-: and that's only because she's managed to avoid complete howlers on the order of "I want to put food on your family" and "is our children learning?") I was happy for her sake that she managed to steer clear of a complete meltdown. That's the last thing we need after our public humiliation as a nation over the last two weeks (or really, the last 8 years).
Biden, on the other hand, more than proved his capability. Too bad he didn't have an opponent of his calibre.
I'll bet in her head though, she was thinking "Joe can't even pronounce Nucular".
