I Like ItI Don’t Like It

The good news is that Sarah Palin can complete a sentence...the bad news is that the rest of us have to listen to it, according to Bill Maher in his opening monologue on Friday night.

Maher also had mocking words for Rich Lowry, who thought Palin was 'man straightening.'

Here's video:

Population in Fairfax County, VA in 2007 is 1,041,507. I don't think that Palin is qualified to be the county executive.

she doesn't even have a lot of friends, for someone that women love so much why can't she even have some friends. She probably is not very likable. She is called the barracuda so it's obvious that she is quite a b*tch. And she seemed like it on the debate night, chiding Biden as if he is the unqualified one. She was so unprofessional and incoherent. She used her feminity to get votes not her brains. Hey dummies voting for this GOP ticket, she is 44yrs old. Let me repeat 44yrs old (3yrs younger to Obama) she is not 18yrs old so start using your brains she should not try to be so cutsie and child-like during a serious debate and an economic crisis.
Palin you are too old to use your flirtatious ways to get votes, it's quite demeaning to women. Alaska why would you vote for this nasty woman!

You don’t get points in a debate when the expectations are set so low that just showing up is considered a victory

I have been hearing all these ridiculous pundits saying all is forgiven, Palin passed the test. Please. What test are they talking about? Reading preprogrammed forced fed talking points off a teleprompter? Well she already passed that test at the RNC convention. No the test she needed to pass at the VP debate was weather she actually understood what she was saying as well as the ability to answer a follow up question. Judging by what I saw Plain gets a F.

Are you serious? an F?, there are other measure's for competency that you haven't explored to grade her performance, me I would have said for being lost in ignorance you get an incomplete, for looking like a reject from the Reagun era, well cutesie just ain't cutting it, and the winkiy thing, you may have emasculated a few toe tappers to fore swear airport bathroom stalls, you never did move my hormone's, now I just did a Palin, I lied they started retching,
Look at it this way for her performance, they the RNC could have animated a lead ball that would have at least gave a credible performance as a lead dummy.
OK you win, she gets an F with an asterix.

One would make more sense if one learned the distinctive usage of transitive and intransitive verbs in sentences.

assuming one wants to make sense. more fun to NOT!?

i personally don't see it as funny in any way; way too serious for this time in the U. S. and the mess that's been created.

It is with sadness that I write these words in hope that we can overcome this gladiator mentality which has been instilled in all too many of us. Everything is competitive like sports. Can't stop a war until we win....You are either with us or against us. This culture works counter to our best interest as a country and family. They way CNN, MSNBC, FOX and others who use public airwaves, have been able to divide and influence the public's mind and perception is absolutely amazing. It appears that all they (networks) care about is keeping the advertising dollars coming in. The more controversy created for each candidate the more money spent to overcome that challenge. The current election will pay 3 billion dollars from publicity to media. The mental well being of the country is overlooked or sold out. It would be nice if we could discuss openly, without political correctness, the many challenges we face as neighbors, teachers, businesspersons, media, artists, politicians and religious leaders. Things like race, religion and climate change. Maybe it’s time we had a "kitchen table" moment. Let's become more hands on, go out meet and listen to what opponents have to say. Explain and discuss your point of view and share a beer after. Although this can be difficult, there is always something you learn or realize that you just hadn't thought about it like that before. Let's Just Be Americans.

I'm sorry that I'm so late in posting my response that it will likely get lost in the kafuffle - but I don't think I've heard anyone say anything quite so true or eloquent yet - it's too bad that all the gladiator noise will likely drown it out. :(

Thank you for restoring my faith that their are still people out there willing to be what we are, at the end of the day, after all, just people. I'm NOT a warmonger, and I'm tired of feeling like I have to come out "swinging" to be heard or validated - it shouldn't have to be like that - but somehow we've been convinced we do.

All right, Just Dee, explain how you have a serious conversation with people who refuse to listen, refuse deal fairly, and for whom untruth is the default position? Republicans think "bipartisanship" means kneeling down and agreeing with them. Have to agree with George S. Kaufman: "I'd rather be a bad winner than any kind of loser."

That's my prayer, too. But good luck with that one.

We won't get together as a people until we are convinced that it is in our own best interest to do so. Unless there is a critical mass of folks with the corporate will to change the way we relate to each other, and to the extent and degree that that change is rewarded and supported by our institutionalized cultural systems -- it ain't gonna happen.

There's a certain pastor I know, who over a 40-year ministry challenged people of all faiths to be genuine in their relationships with themselves, to God and to their fellow man. His church and the entire nationwide denomination challenged other people of faith to engage in "sacred conversations on race," even within their places of worship, in order to begin addressing the issues and allowing the healing to begin. Know what he got for his troubles? He got to have his ministry slandered, demonized and reduced to a caricatured soundbite, his name an epithet. It was the more "controversial" and passionate excerpts of his sermons, not his constant invitations to reconciliation that were snagged, looped and used as a political football.

I share your desire that we live up to our potential, it's just going to take a bit more than some currently seem willing to give. Bill M may not appreciate this but: God help us.

Divide and conquer, has become the mantra in our poltical arena. Sad, but true. Rove built a career around it. This is why the US is lost, and will continue to be a loser......what was it Lincoln once said..."A nation divided cannot stand..." I guess that's another lost lesson.

I hope things could change, but having worked and lived around the world it is pretty clear America's days of power and influence are waning. If Obama/Biden get elected there may be a chance, but even then so much damage has been done, I find it doubtful. There is a new old order that's for sure.

"I hope things could change, but having worked and lived around the world it is pretty clear America's days of power and influence are waning"

I can see where we can change and that we would be thought of with respect, of having influence for the improvement in areas all over. I have always had a difficult time for as long as I can remember, as I too have lived in other countries at different times, that the USA comes across in some ways as if it is better than everything/everyone else. Presidents refer to it as the super power and leader of the free world -- well, maybe we are -- but we have to quit pushing it into other country/people's faces. I love the US of A but from the outside looking in, to hear some of the comments made, it comes across as agressive, and sometimes almost bullying. I was living outside US when Iraq started and when you hear speeches about other countries wanting democracy like us -- did we ask -- no. We assume everyone wants what we do. It's not necessarily so.

Barack will take us back to the table of talking. That is so desperately needed for us to understand them and they us.

. We are strong. But we have become like gladiators in a coliseum. Like entertainment and sport for "Players" (media, politicians, and spinmeisters), which define you and me as liberals, conservatives, Joe Six Pack, elitist, feminist, etc... Must we be positioned against something, someone or some idea, all the time? We are assigned our designated challengers, enter the wire cage and struggle to the death. Think Tina Turner in Mad Max. I remember when we use to regard people in developing and eastern block countries with their perceived lack of ability to think for themselves with humor, if not outright disgust. My mother use to tell me "you will be struck by what you despise so don't laugh at others. If not for the grace of the universe there go you. Have you looked in the mirror lately? I have and I am not the person I know I could be. For one thing, I fear that the education of the population is being neglected by design and the effects are becoming obvious. Education is the connection and protection of a nation's soul. But without higher standards and greater expectations, we will become more entertainment for the modern Nerocracy and therefore misguided in the near future. I now live outside of the states and although I read HP and several other blogs everyday, this is only my second posted opinion here. Most times I prefer to read and listen to you.

I attempted to respond to you, but I think it got lost in the "ether." Suffice it to say, that I share your sentiments, and just wish we didn't view life's pivotal moments as video games that someone has to "win." (I first became keenly aware of this during Desert Storm, when after several bombing attacks, the news media reported that we'd "won" as if we'd earned the right to advance to the next level of a computer game).

Keep voicing your opinion. It's a wonderfully refreshing reminder (that helps me balance out the cynicism that creeps in every now and then).

Thank you.

disclaimer - this is not coherent but try and make senses out of it. I have given God a secret name They have trivialised the His Holy name(s) so much that for them its a joke. I watched a programe last week on MSNBC about the similar ignorants and it took 4 DECADES to arrest a dude who killed another dude's black brother in Mississipi. Now get this - now one was disputing that he had done it. They were saying that the brother has to serve him himself blah blah - eventually he was locked up - after his buddy sold him out so he could run scot free. What goes arounf comes around. If not for them personally then through their children. Remember the sins of the fathers.... It's not just a saying - its real.
