Mr. Trumka represents hope for this country's future as much as Barack Obama does. Thank you, Mr. Trumka.
We are going to get a double victory in November...Barack Obama as president and the marginalization of racists who have been controlling our country for FAR TOO LONG!!!!
The future generations of Americans will thank you Mr. Trumka!!!!
YES WE CAN!!
Yes We Can. Thank you Richard Trumka~
An excellent and moving speech that everybody should hear!
BRAVO!
Organized thoughts that cut straight to the quick of reality we all face in America delivered with passion and focused energy.
If you're struggling to sort how we will be governed starting in '09, and what agenda are leaders will drive starting in '09, or how the middle class will be impacted by this from the candidates themselves, take 7 minutes to get educated on what you need to understand and what you need to do about it.
Let this video help clear the clutter and non-stop distractions thrown at you by campaigns and understand what is at stake.
Ever more important given the mud slinging, lying, and merciless attacking/lying and non-stop rhetoric that just commenced this weekend.
Powerful, powerful speech.
As a teacher in a very poor, highly ELL neighborhood of Phoenix, whose school is drowning under the underfunded mandates of NCLB, I wish my union leadership were this passionate about bringing change to education!
Ask the Arizona state unit of your union to invite AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Richard Trumka to address your union in Phoenix sometime when he can fit it in his schedule. Since he is one of the top leaders of this federation of all the major unions, he might come address an NEA or AFT event.
Nice speech. About time.
Thank you for an excellent message.
This is the unity that Barrack Obama inspires.
AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Richard Trumka has been hitting the right note for years, even before Sen. Obama's campaign. I am glad that with this campaign and the advent of YouTube, the entire country finally gets to hear from Richard Trumka, and he now gets to spread his positive message against racism to new audiences.
post this as a huffpo headline
But correct the headline, because he was a union president until 1995. NOW, and since his 1995 election with a progressive leadership slate, Secretary-Treasurer Richard Trumka and President John Sweeney have led this largest federation of American labor unions--the AFL-CIO (American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations). In the video, Mr. Trumka gives a shout out to the work of the CIO, which believed in wall-to-wall organizing of all the different trades within a factory, instead of separate, rival unions for each specialty. When the AFL and the CIO merged, it finally brought unity to this vast movement of American labor.
This guy is amazing! And HE is the real Joe Sixpack. Apparently he wasn't impressed with all of Sarah Palin's winking and flirting--he's actually planning to vote on the issues.
