NY Times:

Sarah Palin's post-Couric/Fey comeback at last week's vice presidential debate was a turning point in the campaign. But if she "won," as her indulgent partisans and press claque would have it, the loser was not Joe Biden. It was her running mate. With a month to go, the 2008 election is now an Obama-Palin race -- about "the future," as Palin kept saying Thursday night -- and the only person who doesn't seem to know it is Mr. Past, poor old John McCain.

To understand the meaning of Palin's "victory," it must be seen in the context of two ominous developments that directly preceded it. Just hours before the debate began, the McCain campaign pulled out of Michigan. That state is ground zero for the collapsed Main Street economy and for so-called Reagan Democrats, those white working-class voters who keep being told by the right that Barack Obama is a Muslim who hung with bomb-throwing radicals during his childhood in the late 1960s.

This is of course the logical progression of Republican alz heimers.

You start with the delusional ideology - more of less expressed in a coherent form.

Then you lapse into de men tia and incoherence.

"She has more testosterone than anyone else at the top of her party."

Please, Frank! She's all female! Don't try to lay this turkey, or any of her attributes, on men.

Leave it to the Brits to spell it out for what it really is. I sent this link to Christiane Amanpour after listening to her praise Palin's debate performance on Real Time. Bill Maher's rebuttal to Amanpour was weak. So I tossed this link into the CNN contact page for the famous journalist to read -- doubt she'll get it. None the less if you feel ambitious send it off to as many TV journalists as you can. It's VERY sobering.

Sung to the Addams Family theme song:

He's spooky and She's kooky
Their politics are dookie
The old man and the rookie
The McPalin tragedy (snap, snap)

She stupid, He's erractic
They hate those democratic
Their supporters are fanatics
The McPalin Calamity. (snap, snap)

They lost this years election
To Obama, He's perfection
Their lies caused ear infections
The McPalin fallacy (snap, snap)

Now comes the real test for Americans. As the negative campaigning goes into high gear and Palin bares her fangs like a cornered animal, how many will succumb to the lies? How many will be carried away by the sick innuendos? How many will forget what's truly at stake in this election?

Irrelevance and Incoherence are exactly what the GOP want in a president, so the nation can continue in partisan warfare, legislative and judicial gridlock, outsourcing of government functions and politicizing of the process, and greedy, so that dishonest greedy corporate profiteering can continue unchecked.

it is clear that the cynical, reckless, and politics-over-country choice of a running mate who is dangerously unprepared to step into the presidency WAS NOT MCCAIN'S CHOICE ---

palin was chosen by the same cheney/rove neocons that engineered the bush agenda, the people behind the curtains, the staff and advisors running the campaign --- after being told he was a sure loser in this campaign, mccain was given the courtesy of a phone call with palin before being forced to announce her as his VP pick ---

this speaks volumes about just how much of a "MAVERICK" mccain has become --- sadly, for a once respected and powerful political maverick, mccain has now devolved into a mere distraction from the real neocon candidate, sarah sixpack, being brought in through the back door --- by now, mccain must surely have grown to hate his own party, first for rejecting him, then for embracing him reluctantly and exacting the price of his own desperately shoddy soul .........

Yep, no primaries, no nothing. Just a backdoor and totally engineered entrance for Palin, a front stage humiliation for McCain and we all lose due to the complete bypass of anything remotely resembling democracy (at least in our world). I've stopped asking how low these neocons can go because I don't want to know anymore. It just gets more and more stomach-heaving by the minute.

I think just like Bush, McCain does make the decisions, but the powers behind the throne know how to push his buttons. With Palin, they appealed to his political desperation, penchant for gambling, and eye for a pretty girl. In Palin, they have the female version of Bush's cowboy persona, who panders to Americans who think colloquealisms and poor grammar = authentic. She will do and say what she is told, blinded by ambition and extremely, independently uninformed.

The only thing McCain is going to be changing after this election are his Depends.

With all due respect, and a bow to your greater knowledge, I think it's preposterous to suppose that mccain would ever agree to step down from the top of the ticket. He wants to be president more than he wants to breathe. His ambition for the job is all-consuming. I don't believe anything could persuade him to give it up. I have wondered lately if he knows that he is sicker than we suppose, but I don't detect it in his attitude or demeanor.

if people start using their intelligence and get off this emotional soap box... we would realize that Sarah Palin is a fraud.

I just watched Huckabee show. They interviewed NH Hockey Mom... they said they were happy to see a woman, but will not vote as they do not trust Palin to lead... complicated... McCain's mis-calculation of women. I am woman and was happy to see a woman, but... was disappointed as I like to see a QUALIFIED woman. Must admit, Palin taught us a lesson... get facts straight...

Do not act like a small town mayor, mom, but as a QUALIFIED WOMAN to run in executive branch... be like Hillary... and speak like Hillary - the speech she gave at Democrat Convention... that was awesome...

Palin CANNOT speak like Hillary, since Palin is a complete polar opposite of what Hillary stands for.

Which makes it all the more ridiculous that John McCain thought he could get the Hillary supporters over to his side by adding Palin to the ticket. The only thing those two have in common is that they are both women and that's where the similarities stop. Did McCain think women voters are that stupid/vacuous?
