GOPers Attempting To Suppress Dem Vote In Indiana

It appears that Lake County, IN may be the latest arena in the GOP's effort to suppress the vote in swing states.

First some basics. Under Indiana election law, early voting can only take place in a county clerk's main office. This clearly could be problematic in areas where the county seat is far in distance from the most heavily populated parts of the county. Therefore, the law gives each board of elections the authority to approve early voting centers elsewhere in their county.

But on September 24, the two Republican members of the elections board voted against doing so. Their explanation is that Lake County Democratic chairman Rudy Clay made an agreement early in the year with GOP chairman John Corley to allow satellite voting during the state's presidential primary, but not during the general election. Why wouldn't the Republicans want residents of these three towns to have easier access to early voting in the weeks leading up to this historic election? Because they're heavily minority, heavily low-income, and heavily Democratic.

The thing that worries me about Obama is that he may not be fully committed to going after election fraud and the officials who perpetrate it. Assuming we do not degenerate into anarchy (possible given the size and eminenece of our economic quandry), then election reform must be high on his list of priorities. Otherwise, every election will remain an opportunity for serious mischief.

I remember the primary in Indiana well. Apparently, LAKE COUNTY was THE LAST to release their results. As with the PRIMARY, SO WITH THE ELECTION. THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING! It shouldn't be a surprise that they want to dampen the vote in that county. Gary IN area went BIG for Obama in the primary. If they can get rid of Lake County then they have a chance to hold on to the state.

They tried to suppress the vote in some Ohio counties in 2004 for the same reasons - Cleveland area most visibly.

This is just another tactic that the GOP is using to distract people from their fail economic policy that almost brought down America. They know they can not win on the issues, so they will check into Obama donors. Obama can not review evey single person who donate becasue most people donate by check and visa. A Republican can not clean up Republican mess, only a Democrate can do that.
