I Like ItI Don’t Like It

On "Meet the Press" Sunday morning, vice presidential debate moderator Gwen Ifill said Palin "more than ignored" some of her questions -- she "blew me off." She added that Palin decided to "give a stump speech" instead of a debate, and that there's "little a moderator can do" to stop that. Watch:

I like Gwen Ifill, but the VP debate should have been moderated by Katie Couric or Campbell Brown.

It's sad to say, but maybe you are correct, a white moderator would not have been seen as being biased or racist. Gwen was in a lose lose situation before the debate began. It's sad in this day and age that the color of ones skin still matters in this society.

The politics of arrogance as practiced by Sara Palin and John McCain is not what we need now--our partisanship has split this country down the middle--we are fighting and demonizing each other. Negative campaigning is overtaking thoughtful discourse...it is time to change course...

You are right. They just quoted McCain as saying "All Democrats are poop-poop heads." Very negative.

So let's have another debate and stress that, oh yes you will answer those tough questions, Sarah!

The intelligent people saw how she could not answer the questions Gwen! Heck she did not even answer Katie's questions so it shows she lacks comprehension skills. Talking points is all she knows and to attack with bogus information.

You betcha. He wouldn't have put up with Palin's nonsense. THAT would have made it a debate worth watching.

Palin did blow her off; however, why didn't Ifill say to her that debates have rules and Palin needs to abide by those rules? I don't know why she rolled over so quickly and let Palin do her own thing without even the politest of reminders or a reprimand. I don't think it was only Biden's responsibility to do that, as Ifill suggests.

True. I think, though, Ifill was, in effect, neu.tered a bit by the McSmirky campaign, which was the goal of all that kerfuffle leading up to the debate. That being said, I wish she was a little more forceful in pursuing an actual "debate".

McCain has nowhere to go now but down. He can run away from President Bush, but he can't run away from the Republican Party. The Republicans will be regarded from now on as "the party that wrecked America." Over the weeks ahead, as carnage in the economy and the financial markets ramps up, it will become increasingly clear. It is important that this meme be spread through the internet. I urge all commentators to adopt and spread the idea that the Republicans are "the party that wrecked America." It will work because it is the truth. Use it freely. Just spread the word.

Yes, she did blow her off. But it was her job as moderator to reel her back in and she didn't...

It was the job of the rest of the press and media to comment on the refusal to answer and they really havent. this refusal to answer is an ongoing theme and is unprecedented in my recollection. A VP choice who did not and never has run for national office with around a year as governor--- a month to go before the election and she is still not answering questions. We are being told to buy a car without kicking the tires. The press and media should be screaming about this.

Just as the press has given the current disasterous administration a pass on anything they've said or done, they are afraid to touch the clown in pumps.
