SEDONA, Ariz. — Republican presidential candidate John McCain is spending Saturday at a resort hotel in Sedona, Ariz., preparing for his second debate with Democratic nominee Barack Obama.

The Arizona senator plans to stay for the weekend at his family retreat outside Sedona. He took a motorcade to town and is devoting most of the day to preparing responses to possible questions at the debate and polishing his message.

Obama and McCain are scheduled to meet Tuesday at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn., for the second of three debates.

The televised debate moderated by NBC's Tom Brokaw will feature issues raised by audience members and submitted by Internet participants in a town-hall format.

Tim "the tool" Brokaw will ask Mr O. all those questions about Ayers and Rev Wright, I'm pretty sure Mr O will be ready to attack McCane with his own Rev Hagee and John Singlaub and his erratic behavior and the Big One "Keating V"

Bring it on!!

Pour all the data in and it all leaks out before he leaves the room!

It will be another farce with McCain reading from prepared crib sheets, they should be banned.

People want a proper debate not mini punchline speeches!

McCain knows he has Brokaw on his side. Obama is going to have to really connect with the citizens asking questions in order for this to work in his favor.

With McCain being so far down in EVERY poll I find it interesting that he takes a whole weekend to prepare for a debate in which the format is suited to his supposed strength.

If I were in his shoes, common sense would tell me to be out campaigning every chance I got to get those numbers up, but I guess common sense just ain't common.

These people have NO strategy to win this election. You got Palin campaigning in Cali of all places that won't even go his way. McCain taking a whole weekend off to 'prepare' while he's pulling out of states he could have had a chance with and losing ground in every state that Bush won in 2004.....I just don't get his approach to this election.

I pray that Obama wins in a landside which will be a definitive victory so there are no recounts. The shear thought of McCain running this country the way he's ran his campaign makes me ill.

opps...I meant McCain is losing ground in every battleground state that Bush won in 2004 and some states that are realiably repub (ie. Virginia, NC)

McC ain can prep for the debate all he wants...but the more I read about him, the less I listen to him - in my opinion, just not worth listening to! Biggest reason why? This article! A MUST read for anyone wanting to get to know the real McC ain...

Wait... he's "practicing" for something he's been begging to do for months? Talk about not being prepared.

Hope McCain is prepping for this voter based issue. Someone's bound to ask about it. (if the media allows it)

++ By March 1987, Keating was asking McCain to travel to meet with regulators regarding Lincoln Savings; McCain refused. Keating called McCain a "wimp" behind his back, and on March 24 the two had a heated, contentious meeting. On April 2 and April 9, 1987, McCain and the other senators met at the Capitol with regulators, first with Edwin J. Gray, chairman of the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, and then members of the FHLBB San Francisco branch, to discuss the government's investigation of Lincoln. McCain would write in 2002 that attending the two meetings was "the worst mistake of my life".

Where is the media? Why isn't this an issue, especially NOW? John McCain involved in trying to persuade federal regulators to overlook corruption and crooked dealings within Wall Street and federal Savings and Loan institutions isn't worthy of prime time coverage in the middle of this great economic meltdown ??

That's how the campaign donations are spent, on resort hotels. Imagine how's he gonna spend the money of the people, the bottom 99 percent tax paying, people, if he were president.

NO...This is just trickle down... You See He pays for the ritzy hotel so that us little jerks can leach off of his scraps. Kinda like birds flying into a hippo's mouth.

I guess McCain's prepping/gambling at a Resort Hotel is his way of learning about the economy.

If I gamble $100,000 on the craps table and I win $50,000, this is the economy of the Country is fundamentally sound.

If I gamble $100,000 on the craps table and I loose $50,000, this is a downturn in the economy.

If I gamble $100,000 on the craps table and I loose $100,000, we are in a recession.

The town hall format might be Johnny's type, but this is about the economy. When he said that the fundamental of the economy are strong and then went on to say that he meant the workers, well, why didn't he say the workers are strong. Just another coverup of your inability to deal with our national crisis.

An Arizona resort hall, huh? That's where McCain belongs--in an old folks home in AZ, babbling to the desert iguanas!
