Why Is New York Times Ignoring McCain's Own Bill Ayers?

Media Matters:

On October 4, The New York Times published a 2,140-word front-page article about Sen. Barack Obama's association with former Weather Underground member William Ayers -- at least the 18th Times article this year mentioning that association. But the Times has yet to mention, let alone devote an entire article to, Sen. John McCain's relationship with radio host and convicted Watergate burglar G. Gordon Liddy. Indeed, in its October 4 article, the Times quoted Chicago Tribune columnist Steve Chapman denouncing Obama's association with Ayers but did not note that Chapman has described Liddy as McCain's "own Bill Ayers" and has written that "[i]f Obama needs to answer questions about Ayers, McCain has the same obligation regarding Liddy." The Times, moreover, quoted McCain criticizing Obama for his association with Ayers without noting that Chapman has faulted McCain for what Chapman described as McCain's "howling hypocrisy on the subject."

The link to the video of McCain's 11/07 appearance on G. Gordon Liddy's program appears to be be down. It would be most interesting to see a clip of McCain referring to Liddy as "a great American" (or some similar expression). Ergo if anyone has access to this video, in my opinion they would be doing the electorate a great service by reposting it for all to see.
I am old enough to remember Watergate, and was surprised at the time that the Republican party survived it intact. Let us not forget that the sitting Republican president, Richard Nixon, was forced to resign over Watergate. If he had not resigned, he would certainly have been impeached. It was an incredibly sleazy conspiracy involving incredibly sleazy people. That anyone in the Republican party (and especially a nominee for president) would associate with one of the surviving Watergate conspirators strikes me as truly incredible. Would John McCain call his friend G. Gordon the next time the White House needs a "plumber"?

Sen. Obama's supporters, PLEASE, PLEASE don't get complacent in thinking that the election has been won. Never accept victory before the time for victory has come. Remember, during the primaries, Sen. McCain's campaign was almost over, everybody thought he would not win the nomiation, and, he did.

This election is not yet over, Sen. Obama has not won, we don't know that he will. Therefore, Sen. Obama's campaign should fight with every breath. DO NOT watch the polls. People do lie to pollsters. They need to act is if they are the underdogs (in fact, they are the underdogs). The campaign should act as though they have everything working against them, not for them.

We are 29 days away. ANYTHING can happen during this time.

So this guy named G. Liddy bombed US buildings harming and killing Americans? Well if he has I admit I have never heard of him.

I think it is just plain ridiculous trying to justify the leftist terrorist BIll Ayers who has participated in the bombings of New York City Police Headquarters in 1970, the United States Capitol building in 1971, and The Pentagon in 1972.

Bill Ayers is a terrorist who has purposely chosen to attack and harm Americans. People who are trying to down play his terrorist attacks are just plain sick in the head.

You've never heard of G Gordon Libby? How old are you, 10? He was one of the criminals involved in the Nixon Administration.

Liddy did the same thing Ayers did, but Liddy is a good friend of McCain's and Ayers is an aquaintance of Obama's.

I think you need to educate yourself with some American history.

Bill Ayers was never charged with anything because he never participated in any act of terrorism and has led an exemplary life for many years. Liddy is a convicted felon who spent four years in jail and has never repudiated his psycho, domestic terrorist plans.
