Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton has raised more than $8 million for former rival Barack Obama's presidential campaign since July and plans to barnstorm the country for even more cash, as the New York senator works to show she is aggressively helping the candidate who cut short her White House bid.

"I am using every tool that I have to help Democrats win," Clinton told USA TODAY. She was between fundraising events in Texas and California that brought in another $1.5 million for Obama and congressional candidates on Friday and Saturday.

This is a very misleading article and headline. When Hillary Clinton shows up at an Obama fundraiser, she is credited for "raising" all the contributions made for that event? That is laughable. Most Democrats and Independents I know no longer have any respect for Bill or Hillary Clinton. They waged an un-Democrative, Rovian, negative, divisive, dishonest primary campaign, give McCain fuel and quotes to take it into the general election campaign, and have fumed, bitter and unhelpful on the sidelines throughout the months since June. They moved their super-sixed egos into the Convention spoltight, providing needless, useless distraction, and have continued a whisper campaign that "Obey Can't Win" and "isn't McCain impressive" since August.

I am sure when Obama wins, the Clintons will step up and claim credit, but NONE of it will be theirs. Obama will have one against the Clintons, not with their support.

LOL. That's because the name Obama sells much better than the name Clinton Inc. What has happened this election cycle is how cynically so many people look at everything they say. You know she would just like to siphon some of that money off but she can't. Lol. Isn't it glaring the difference between the kind of money she elicits from people when she mentions his name, but when it's her own name it's a few hundred thousand, from her supposed legions of supporters.

And, the Chosen One has done squat for her.

He only has one month to pull this election off. Once he does that, he can start thinking of favors. His chance to become president is now. She has time to pay off her debt.

According to whom? Hillary as backed up by Bill. Too funny. The Clintons have done nothing for Obama but try to hedge their bets.

Sen. Clinton is doing a great thing for democrats. I am proud of her. I hope she becomes the head of health care reform in the new Obama administration.

She will!

And what an abosolute disaster that would be. She remains the most divsive person in American politics. You need someone to champion healthcare reform with vision, good judgment and the diplomatic skills to build coaltions, not a failed president candidate who continues to ride of the back of her husband.

Although her appointment would give New Yorkers a break, and two full time Senators in instead of just one.

Thanks, Hillary. Now then, anything you can do about Bill? He was looking so forward to being in the White House again.

If Obama loses, Hillary will expect him to tap into his donor base when she runs again in 2012. She isn't out there working hard for nothing. http://mespace.wordpress.com

I don't think that any of us work for "nothing." How much have you raised for BO anyway? Just asking.

Not if you count those who have "loved" Hill by proxy. I'd ask Bill about this one.

8 million makes Hillary Clinton the most successful Obama Surrogate TO DATE.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:27 PM on 10/06/2008

Really? I haven't seen the fundraising totals of other surrogates... If that's true, any detractors should shut-up or start yelling at Sebelius, Richardson, or whoever.

lol, come on. truth now, there is nothing the clintons could do no matter how great that you wouldn't criticize.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:05 PM on 10/06/2008

That's what I was thinking too. 8 million in three months really isn't that much money considering the monthly donations though the website have reaches over 60 million per month.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:06 PM on 10/06/2008

What?! 8 million isn't that much? How much has Kerry, gore, or a Kennedy raised through their own fundraisers for BO? How much have you personally raised for BO?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 04:18 PM on 10/06/2008

How much has she raised for herself again? ... Oh right.

RIPRNC,GRUNTY1:

You are right Hill is clearly looking to provide political cover for herself for her next run for the presidency all of her communications if you pay attention to her language indicates her support for the party and almost never mentions Obama's name. Bill does the same thing. I am not sure they realize that this approach is transparent. The sour grapes they both have shown has diminished their brand.

I'm very supportive of Obama... I live in MA, which is a through and through blue state, but I actually have made a lot of calls to NH voters and I'm glad to say that I have persuaded many of them to vote for Obama.

I hope that I didn't offend you with my comments. I think that I've been on guard since the 2004 "election", so I can be overly critical and air on the side of caution. I tend to be a little cynical sometimes, but I hope that you can see that I have good intentions.
