Florida Palin Rally's Introductory Speaker Drops A "Hussein" Bomb

Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott took the stage moments ago as one of the introductory speakers at a rally here for Sarah Palin. After delivering brief remarks in support of Palin, Sheriff Scott flipped the switch and used Barack Obama's middle name in order to incite the crowd of thousands of people who have already gathered here.

"On Nov. 4, let's leave Barack Hussein Obama wondering what happened," the law enforcement officer said.

For me, there's nothing wrong with the sheriff's saying 'Hussein": that's Barack's middle name. Unless, of course, in pronouncing the word, he snarled or otherwise derogatively emphasized on it.

What I find offensive is what the next speaker said; and the Pal in camp could spin as much as they want, if Say rah was disgusted, she ought to have shown that disgust by cutting him short, or even abruptly leaving the stage.

Here's the problem I have with this! They use his middle name to try to link him to Mus lim terr orists. Yet on the other hand they link him to a pas tor of a Chri stian chu rch that he went to for 20 years. Shouldn't they make up their mind on whether he is a Mus lim or a Chri stian?

Just a thought! And as far as his pas tor, my husband and I attended a chu rch for 5 years. The pas tor at this chur ch made comments we didn't necessarily agree with but we kept going because the main message was wonderful, and we had made friends there, good Chri stian friends. We only left there because we moved. Their comments were not our beliefs. We are no less Chri stians because of our pas tor's comments.

You can call the sheriff's office:

The sheriff also had this to say:

“I absolutely, unequivocally don’t regret saying it,” Scott said. “In order to be a speaker at this event, I had to give my full name — Michael Joseph Scott — to the Secret Service, even though I’m the sheriff of Lee County. So why would I apologize? Is there some kind of double standard here where I have to give my full name, but I can’t use his?”

and this:

“I just wanted to use his full name,” Scott said. “And frankly, if this is such a hot-button issue, he, as a Harvard lawyer, could have changed it if he didn’t like it.”

Most police officers don't even have to have a college degree.
I am amazed that this country allows some of the most ignorant people with the littlest of education carry guns and enforce the laws.
How can you go to an academy for a few weeks or months and claim to be an expert on the law?

Sounds life "Sheriff Boy" needs disciplinary hearing and non-paid suspension. I don't give a crap whether elected or not. Better yet, if elected -- don't vote for him next time. Probably wore Sheriff Uniform. Involement in political rallies allowed? Not where I live. Sounds like a member playing in the "Old Boys Club". I'm sure there are some skeletons in the closet as it reeks of a character trait that when something isn't right on the force, they cover up for each other. Been there before-- and took the old boy down -- legally. Never did he work in enforcement again. 2 years in the slammer was such a good feeling. This old boy reeks of the same. I saw the video. The cop was in uniform and should be suspended or dismissed. Not for using Hussein but for taking an active part in a political rally. I'd say the same thing if a cop was participating in an Obama rally.

Over the weekend I have been disgusted by the vile attacks by the Republican candidates and their followers. In response to these incitements, Until November 4, I am adopting the middle name Hussein and will proudly use it wherever I happen to be.

I'm so tired of all of this. I don't know how to make things better and most days now I despair the species if you know what I mean. I saw all of this today and then I donated, once to the Obama campaign and then later to the DNC. Still wasn't enough, I've worked the phones in the past but I wanted to try something different today. So I wrote a letter.
