It seems anxiety from the financial crisis is reaching new highs, but the tipping point for one individual came at the Lehman Brothers gym in the midst of the company's collapse.

While former Lehman CEO Richard Fuld was testifying before the House Oversight Committee Oct. 6, CNBC reported he had been punched in the face at the Lehman Brothers gym after it was announced the firm was going bankrupt. CNBC and Vanity Fair contributor Vicky Ward said Fuld was attacked at the gym on a Sunday following the bankruptcy.

Don't worry about the "big" guys, they will cover their ass. Oh, they may lose some money, but believe me they will stash plenty where the government can't get to it. They aren't stupid or honorable and that's why we're all in this position.

A prediction:

Americans own 200 million guns, and those ostentatious gated communities are going to feel more like Kabul than the United States if this turns into a depression and wipes millions of people into the street.

Unlike the sheeplike generation of the 1930s, the current occupants aren't going into that dark night whimpering and singing Woody Guthrie songs.

Personally, I would like to see more suicides. Maybe people were just more honorable in 29.

The difference in '29 and '08 "panics" is that EVERYONE went broke in '29 but it's the average person going broke in '08. The CEOs got theirs but cleaned everyone else out this time and the US Government helped them! Forget honor! It's all about what's it's always all about - the money!

Actually, that is WHY the average person/family is going to be bankrupt this time...

Let's not rush to bury the oh so un-contrite Mr. Fuld in the ground -- a simple naval burial in DE-NILE would be more apropos.

Someone give that pugilist a golden parachute. He earned one more than Fuld.

I like that spunky little Brit (or Aussie). These people had better run to their champagne stocked panic rooms. It's going to get worse.

Richard Fuld is going to get away with it...and so are scores of other CEOs, hedge fund managers, predatory lenders, and bankers who've bilked billions in bonuses from shareholders and ruined our economy. Richard Fuld might get decked in the gymn and grilled for one day before Congress, but he's going to keep all the money and sleep very well in his mansion after he is out of the spotlight.
Unfortunately, the American public loses big time. Investors lose. Our economy loses. Future generations will be punished with onerous tax burdens thanks to the bailout. As long as these elite corporate criminals are forgiven, the public will be abused.
Ralph Nader said that if elected, he would clear out the prisons of nonviolent drug users and fill them up with convicted corporate thieves. Whomever is elected, this should be the policy of a government of, by and for the people. In addition, there should be a 25 year retroactive tax on all estates and incomes in excess of $5 million to reclaim public money looted through pension defaults, outsourcing, offshore tax evasion havens, lending scams and the outright thievery and deception that has made our nation weaker and poorer courteousy of the Reagan deregulation mania. Without strict regulation, salary caps, and lifetime jail sentences for corporate criminals, there will yet be more corporate bailouts, more overall crime, more Wall Street corruption, and an ever weaker economy in the future.

According to Frank "Goebbels" Luntz , Richard Fuld just didn't get his story right. This kind of "let me explain why and how you got screwed" permeates this business all the way down to their lackey's talking to the plebes on the phone from India. That irresponsibility virus exploited by Luntz and the Republican mignons has slowly climbed the corporate ladder all the way to the top. A virus is a virus and Luntz and his kind are definitely viruses on the face of linguistic etymology. The only way you can keep such linguistic jingoism going is to revert to English idioms that glorify contradiction such as Texas or Alaskan "English". Put such thoughts in the mouth of a New Yorker and the result is perversion.

Regarding all of these greedy CEO's - I truly hope there is really such a thing as karma. And to the person that punched out Fuld from all of us - you are our hero.

Hard to feel any form of sympathy or empathy for this guy. Karma is a wonderful thing. I don't like to hear about physical violence; the only way to get to this guy (and others) is via their wallets. "Greed is Good" is their mantra....I just hope he sees the damage that he has done with his conduct and will be remorseful It appears that he is just angry; no thoughts about those he jilted or bilked out of their life savings...,OH, Let's blame it on the government...NOT WORKING!

Bummer, first Paulson (on behalf of his Goldman overlords) punches him and sends Lehman crashing (to the benefit of Goldman), and then an employee punches him.

Loser guy, if there ever was one.

Good. I want to see more of these criminals being treated this way. When the country goes bankrupt these guys are going to feel the heat.. for real. This is just an appetizer of what's to come. Soon people will start playing for keeps.
