It seems anxiety from the financial crisis is reaching new highs, but the tipping point for one individual came at the Lehman Brothers gym in the midst of the company's collapse.

While former Lehman CEO Richard Fuld was testifying before the House Oversight Committee Oct. 6, CNBC reported he had been punched in the face at the Lehman Brothers gym after it was announced the firm was going bankrupt. CNBC and Vanity Fair contributor Vicky Ward said Fuld was attacked at the gym on a Sunday following the bankruptcy.

I would like to know who orchestrated the weekend deals and how they were brokered. Paulson and Bernanke don't have the pull .

And if these politicians don't get to the bottom of it, and people don't go to jail, this mess will go on for a very long time.

If Fuld had no idea and was not at the table, how can anyone pull the rug from under him , the board and most importantly, shareholders ?????

Why is that JPM escapes and GS sits quietly on the sidelines ?

You can';t have a Free and open market with weekend deals being cut without shareholder input....its just not....American.

I realize that a lot of folks on this mega-blog came to vent---lord knows I do---but I wonder when we will see a real a real tipping point. The Republican party still tosses out 'socialism' like it's a dirty word but in all seriousness---Golden Parachutes condone criminal behaviour and if things really head south the popularity level of these career criminals will take a turn for the worse. Admit it folks---Socialism sounds better every day, doesn't it?

We will see more of this in the future. When a CEO tanks his company and gets a 20 million dollar goodbye gift while everyone else gets a pink slip; there will be consequences. Personal consequences.

Totally agree. Can you believe what these dirtbags make for running a company into the ground? But then again I can't get over how much money these people make anyway. NO ONE IS WORTH MILLIONS OF DOLLARS a year----for ANYTHING---except maybe the scientist who comes up with a cure for a deadly disease & saves lives; or the inventor of a useful technology; or an incredible teacher....but someone who buys & sells derivatives? or swaps? That's absolutely wrong on so many levels.

If Richard Fuld had been out-sourced to India it would have been more than a punch.

Boo Hoo to the guy that pillaged the company until it fell apart. The tax breaks and stock money should have been used for investment to make the company stronger and more diverse; to hire more people at accountable salaries. Companies who play this game of overspending without reserves either assets or cash, should not be in business. I hope corporate bankruptcy laws are similar to the individual bankruptcy laws. No one is allowed to drain their accounts of cash and then declare, bankruptcy. They should all have to give every dime back to that company until all employees, and creditors are paid.
I do support the rescue plan, as long as we the people are actually buying assets or debts that may be sold later, hopefully at a profit or at least break even. These corporate raiders should have all their assets frozen until each company is resolved.

Any bets on what ridiculous explanation is offered up by Paulson & crew to explain why it was acceptable to let Lehman fail and yet, somehow, every other company & their shareholders were salvaged in some form or another.

Lehman was no different than any of the rest, they were and are all overexposed to the mortgage market, So, Dick is not the only Lehman employee who would like that answered!

The employees owned 25% of Lehman at the end, it had been as high as 30%. Funny how they're all raking Dick over the coals (not that he doesn't deserve it) but nobody is that concerned about the LEH rank & file who took a 10 billion dollar hit to their savings & retirements and to add insult to injury, lost their jobs too.

#$%@#%$/ We're supposed to feel sorry for Lehman employees who have had is so *fantastically* well for the past 15 years??!?! Why couldn't they get a bail out too?!?!? Are you kidding me? You think getting bailed out because your company went under is an entitlement?

J.F.C. I can think of about 6 billion other people to feel more sorry for!

I don't think thats the point he's making. LEH employees made a direct investment in their company. That is the American way.

His point is well worth the discussion. How were these deals brokered without the "owners " - aka shareholders appraised of any offers that were ont he table.

These were coups. These were not better then nationalization schemes perpetuated by communist and despots you Americans seem to always be fighting. Is there no law of the land.

Be careful, next thing you know they'll be at your door to take you away. These actions were frightening in their scope and secrecy.

Personally I would want a full explanation and if laws were broken then the courts are required to deal with it. OBAMA and McCain are glossing over this but make no mistake, a terrorist attack took place , who are the terrorists.
