I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Thirty days until the election and the presidential campaign is reaching new depths.

On Monday, the McCain campaign put out a television ad that is notable not just for calling Obama "dangerous" and "dishonorable" but for how badly it misrepresents the Illinois Democrat's words and votes. The spot, titled "Dangerous," plays off an already debunked attack that Obama, back in August 2007, said American troops in Afghanistan were "... just air-raiding villages and killing civilians."

"How dishonorable," says the narrator. "Congressional liberals voted repeatedly to cut off funding to our active troops. Increasing the risk on their lives. How dangerous. Obama and Congressional liberals. Too risky for America."

In actuality, Obama was calling for MORE funds for MORE troops to send to Afghanistan so that forces there could expand their operations beyond air raids that were killing innocent civilians. At the time, even President Bush was acknowledging such a problem.

And yet, McCain and his aides have returned to this charge repeatedly during the general election, starting in August. Each time, it has been dismissed. Sometimes, however, the squeaky wheel gets the oil. Combine this ad with the attacks the McCain campaign is launching on William Ayers and Obama's forthcoming assault on the Keating Five and the media should not be left wanting for copy this week.

McCain is a weak, sickly, old man who is trying to hold on to some past preceived glory. Goodbye John, the country neither needs nor wants you. Take palin with you.

McCain looks pathetic and weak -- what a horrible way for the former POW to end his twilight years -- in disgrace

Joe Lieberman has sunk to an new low, enthusiastically endorsing Palin and saying she'll win with God's help. She NEEDS God's help but NOT to win an election, more likely to have mercy on her soul for ALL the lies, smears and low tactics she is employing. This person gained this selection because Senator McCain did not vet her, the Republicans Party jumped on the bandwagon with a convention of the most dishonorable destructive politics I've ever seen and now they want to tear down our only chance to turn things around. I DON"T THINK SO. We are done with this partisan, US versus THEM mentality, religious hypocrisy, and no real solutions to anything - just more of the same. We've had it with the rich getting richer under 300 billion in tax cuts while you pretend to be concerned about 20 billion in earmarks. Gov.Palin has gained more earmarks-pork barrel per capita of any state in Alaska and failed at being a mayor and governor of the least populated state, why would we want her to represent the entire country? Senator McCain's economic policies have failed, why would we want more of the same? Come on Americans, 'you gotta' think of what they're trying to do to you' and they don't deserve your R-E-S-P-E-C-T

Palin is affiliated with the Alaska Independence Party which wants to secede from the US; now that's not what we call Patriotic. Didn't the former leader, Vogler state he wanted to nuke the glaciers, and died in a explosives deal gone bad.

Did anyone mention convicted felon Charles Keating who left people homeless and penniless with McCain's help? Topping off the Savings and Loan debacle, his family profited from the properties they bought back for pennies on the dollar after the banks collapsed. And thanks to McCain and his deceitful lies about regulating banks today, here we are again.

McCain the man who was absent, not just as a POW, but this past year in Congress, where he had the worst record of missing votes, surpassing even Sen Johnson, who had a massive brain hemorrhage.

I can't stand that ugly, condescending tone from the voice talent they're using. It really puts me on edge.

McCain blew it with his erratic behavior during this crisis... I am reminded of General Haige when Reagan was shot running into the White House pressroom declaring that he was in charge... Of course he was not, made a fool of himself and his politica; career was over... The economy was strong, well, not really, that isn't what he meant... Suspending his campain,, Well, not really... To rush back to Washington to deal with the crisis.. Well, not really.. It appeared that congress was in agreement, Mr Bi-partison made it worse... He wasn't going to show for the debate unless a deal was struck.... Well, not really... Though all of this Obama was cool and steady, the reassuring leadership we crave and need.....

McCain and Palin can hit the gutter if they want, and if these tactics work this time, the American people will have deserved the kind of leadership they end up with...

I like Obama but you cant spew nonsense in your immature gleefest for Senator Obama. We have four year terms for a reason. What if Obama really screws up . . . would you still be shouting "Next 8 Years!" thats almost as bad as "Drill,Baby, Drill!" Surely Obama will do much better than McCain but no one is perfect. Calm down and take a step back. Think for yourself and question things that may be represented as facts by either side.

Also, Obama was 8 when Ayers WAS a radical, McSame shares the same age as his convict friends, and knew and was part of their crimes, he did not meet them 40 years after their crime and subsequent rehabilitation.

Not supporting the war machine is not the same as supporting the troops!

Not supporting veterans and disabled veterans, now that is dishonorable, right Songbird!
