McCain lobbed attacks on Obama today as the markets were in freefall.

Republican John McCain is calling Democratic rival Barack Obama a liar.

The GOP presidential candidate told a campaign rally: "Sen. Obama has accused me of opposing regulation to avert this crisis. I guess he believes if a lie is big enough and repeated often enough it will be believed."

Read more about the turmoil in the markets today.

It has been another extraordinary and traumatic day on Wall Street, with the Dow Jones industrials plunging as much as 800 points before closing with a loss of about 350.

The catalyst for the frantic selling was investors' growing realization that the credit crisis is likely to take a heavy toll around the world. And while the Bush administration is starting to implement its $700 billion financial rescue plan, that and steps taken by other governments won't be enough to stop the global spread of credit troubles.

Barack Husein Obama declared the end to failed trickle-down economics in favor of "trickle-up" economics. But "trickle-up" economics is what has destroyed your 401k and the world"s economy. When Democrats started forcing banks to mortgage homes for individuals who could not afford them, it became a major leap for "trickle-up" economics. It brought millions of unqualified borrowers into the mortgage market which limited housing supply and artificially inflated housing prices giving every homeowner new artificial wealth; inspired new housing construction creating jobs for Americans and illegals; inspired sub-prime mortgage securities adding wealth to Wall Street and the world's captains and kings; inflated balance sheets for banks, Freddie and Fannie giving executives millions in bonuses and salaries. Yes, "trickle-up economics" works like an "enthusiastic drug habit," getting off it is a real downer. Give me good old trickle-down economics which may give me a mild headache on those overindulgent occasions.

1stThron, you've mastered rovian doublespeak!

Let's practice;

"Good is bad," "Up is down," "Fear is comforting," "Right is left," "Lying is truth," "Backward is forward."

1stThron could find employment with the RNC/GOP or the Pailn-McSame campaign.

No, let's practice this: Good that low income citizens got a home. Bad they could not afford it. Fear is for those that followed the rules being forced being by government to help those that don't so they can remain comfortable. Right is always right and left is never right. Lying is the lefts perception of the truth through filtered facts. Truth is unfiltered facts. Backward is government regulating behavior by rewarding failure. Forward is government being a facilitator in evolving individual behavior so communities can collectively evolve towards success. Barry has nothing under the hood, no matter how much you polish him. Nov 4th may give Barry the opportunity to prove me right.

Face it: Republicans accusing others of lying is just a tactic. They obviously DON'T CARE a whit for the truth themselves. They just know (through osmosis, maybe?) that progressives DO CARE about honesty, so they're using the accusation of dishonesty as a dishonest tool of argument.

Don't feel alone, if following such "logic" doesn't come naturally to you -- just use the shorthand: Republican are serial, non-repentant liars, when they see benefit in it. Indeed, they see a preference for honesty as a weakness to be exploited. They were born with severely compartmentalized minds, that can't see the benefit in being truthful, if you have something to gain by not being truthful. That's the only explanation I can think of, of how they can be so "religious," and yet so readily blow off the obvious tenets of their avowed faith.

According to the Christianity so many of them espouse, Gad frowns on deceptive representations (lying), on using others' resources (stealing), AND on being rich in the first place. Yet their entire lives are posters of using the first two of those, to achieve the last; and this election season is no exception. Their base cheers on such behavior by their candidates. They seem to have no moral qualms against cheating however they "must" to accomplish their aims.

Is his entire strategy to repeat everything that Sen. Obama has said in the past about himself & his awful campaign? I mean, am I the only person here having a WTF moment?
