New York Daily News:

It's getting McNasty again.

...

McCain's course correction reflects a growing case of nerves within his high command as the electoral map has shifted significantly in Obama's favor in the past two weeks.

"It's a dangerous road, but we have no choice," a top McCain strategist told the Daily News. "If we keep talking about the economic crisis, we're going to lose."

McCain relying on smear type tactics as a strategy this late in the campaign is a guaranteed loser. It has to be the mother of all long shot political gambles in political history. Does McCain really believe that he can reverse an 8 point Obama lead and then pick up 4 or 5 more points to gain a reasonable lead? You are talking about a 12 or 13 point reversal in less than 30 days just based on dirty politics. Not going to happen.

If John says he was cleared of the Keating 5 accusations, I want to know what Barack was ever charg.ed with, ac.cused of or convi.cted of? Barack has never had to be cleared because he has never been charged with anything.

The Republicans and their economic disinterest, their nonsensical hatred of regulation and its resulting financial are three reasons the Republicans will lose in November.I doubt if there is anyone on this site (and hardly anyone in the US) that thinks that they deserve to win?

August 18th, 2002

WASHINGTON, DC — President George W. Bush has announced a new plan to help increase the number of minority homeowners by at least 5.5 million before the end of the decade.
The president’s housing agenda is designed to help dismantle barriers to homeownership by providing down payment assistance, increasing the supply of affordable homes, increasing support for self-help homeownership programs, and simplifying and increasing education on the home buying process.

In last Saturday’s radio address, the president said, “Owning a home lies at the heart of the American dream. A home is a foundation for families and a source of stability for communities. It serves as the foundation of many Americans’ financial security. Yet today, while nearly three-quarters of all white Americans own their homes, less than half of all African Americans and Hispanic Americans are homeowners.

“We must begin to close this homeownership gap by dismantling the barriers that prevent minorities from owning a piece of the American dream.”

He continued, “The single greatest hurdle to first time homeownership is a high down payment requirement that can put a home out of reach. So my administration is proposing the American Dream Down Payment Fund. When a low-income family is qualified to buy a home, but comes up short on the down payment, the American Dream Down Payment Fund will help provide the needed funds. We estimate that this fund will open the door to homeownership for 40,000 low-income families annually.

My father had some pretty sad stories about the great depression. He spent most of his childhood shining shoes, and selling newspapers instead of going to school. No thanks Mccain. If you can't talk about the economic woes of our country then get out of the race.

Ya know HumeSkeptic, there was an American born member of Al-Queda who was just on television, speaking in English, about how ecstatic he was about our economic crisis. Right now, with Republicans at the helm, the terrorists are winning. We've lost some of our civil liberties, our economy is in the toilet, and we still haven't found Osama bin Laden. Now we're also bogged down in a debacle in Iraq which has ruined our credibility abroad. Looks like the terrorists have gotten what they want. I feel so safe now, thanks to the GOP.

Oh, I think Bushie knows where he is - at least the vicinity where he is.

If he catches him, he can't use the threat to keep us in fear.

Hopefully, we are getting wise to that tactic.

thanks for bringing up that little nugget, i.e., that everything you see in front of you today in the news is either the republicans' doing or the dems' attempts to fix it. They have f***** up so bad they are DESPERATE to hang it on the dems--ANY dem--includiing Obama, who, when these days they're not blaming for "not doing enough" in past or currently to remedy the fiscal crisis, are making fun of for having experience only in community organizations. They want it both ways--they want to blame him for doing and for not doing. They're desperate. But it's so typical of republicans. Accountability is not only not their strong suit--they dont' even keep it in the closet.

DeeDee (PalinIsAHottie) seems to like using the Paris Hilton "hot" as a descriptive.

Commenting on the page in the Mark Foley scandal:

More good news for Obama!

"Keating economics" the second-most-popular search term right now. Numbers 8, 11, 12, and 21 are terms like "keating five" and "charles keating."

Bill Ayers shows up at 36, just after "mccain keating."

Actually, who was not tagged "radical" in the 60s ... geez, with what was going on back then, vehement Nam protesting, people being arrested justly and unjustly, people fleeing to Canada to avoid going to war! I think most of our professionals, including politicians were part of the 60s unrest!!!

Bill Ayers was never convicted of a crime. Bill Ayers has never served a day in jail. Sarah Palin was treasurer for the Ted Stevens campaign. He is an indicted felon. Sarah Palin is the subject of improper use of political power in the troopergate investigation, a criminal offense. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

Maybe someone should remind Sarah Plain that she was sitting in church when a pastor said that the terrorist attacks committed by the palestinians against Israel were the judgement of God against Israel because Jews had not accepted Jesus. Sarah Palin was sitting in church when this was said, and her pastor said that he had no problem at all with these types of preaching.

Question for Dems:

Are you secretly, inside yourself, glad the markets are tanking right before the election and hope they stay down to give Ob.a.ma a better chance?

Yes or no?

Please explain why you are so unpatriotic.
