New York Daily News:

It's getting McNasty again.

...

McCain's course correction reflects a growing case of nerves within his high command as the electoral map has shifted significantly in Obama's favor in the past two weeks.

"It's a dangerous road, but we have no choice," a top McCain strategist told the Daily News. "If we keep talking about the economic crisis, we're going to lose."

When you hear about the world economy having to go through painful deleveraging, remember that with the blessing of the Democratic party, Fannie and Freddie kept pushing the leveraging envelope further and further until by 2008 they were operating at 65 to 1 leverage.

65 to 1.

That would be stunningly reckless by any private entity. Investors wouldn't touch such a reckless portfolio with a 10 foot pole. But the Dems had no qualms about Fannie and Freddie doing so, backstopped by taxpayer dollars.

It's shocking for a private entity like Enron to behave like this. For a government entity backed by an entire political party, it's utterly unconscionable.

Loan Titans Paid McCain Adviser Nearly $2 Million

Senator John McCain’s campaign manager was paid more than $30,000 a month for five years as president of an advocacy group set up by the mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to defend them against stricter regulations, current and former officials say.

I don't see how Dems get the blame when for the last 8 years, Bush (GOP) was in-charge of the Executive branch. and 6 of the last eight, the GOP controlled both houses. In fact, even in the last two, the GOP essentially held the DNC hostage with their filibuster powers.

When candidates start "slinging mud" as Palin and McCain are now doing toward Obama/Biden, they know they have nothing more of substance to convince us that they should lead our country for the next four years. To put it in terms of a football metaphor, they have no more time outs left remaining, the clock has 30 seconds on it, and they are losing by 2 touchdowns!

McCain has no strategy, no ideas to help the economy or the American people. People are tired of hearing lie after lie with no substance to create jobs or fix the situation we're in. The Dow is in the toilet, people are losing life savings today and all McCain/Palin wants to do is talk trash about nonsense. This country needs to be built up to be strong again, to be the world leader it was, because obviously now we are a joke, thanks to Bush policies and McCain wanting to tank us even more.

We need to be brought together and with John McCain and Sarah Palin spewing garbage that no one is trying to hear except racists and some Republicans, John McCain has more than proven he's living in a time from the past where the good ole boys ruled. This is the dismal present we live in now, where people like McCain/Palin can even be considerd for office. Our present must change for the future of our children and grandchildren or there will be no future.

I don't think they're staged. When people have been oppressed for as long as we all have they celebrate the possibility of hope through regimented commitments to their futures (don't forget Obama' calling upon AA fathers to man up and take responsibility), or art in whatever form. One would have to be mildly paranoid to project something bad onto either of these videos.

I looked at them both and find no problem with them. Some people will take offense at almost anything, but, personally they gave me chills.

About twenty years ago people got all bent out of shape at "Lift Every Heart and Sing" because many predominately A-A schools were using it along with the National Anthem. No disrespect was intended...it was an effort to bring a sense of unity and empowerment to a community that before then had little.

I thought the boys declaring their determination to make something of themselves and to take control of their own lives through the pride of shared hopes and goals to be inspiring.

In Philadelphia we have many "military academys...public schools... whose enrollment it sky-rocketing because of the pride they instill in their students and the sense of purpose and self-determination that permeates their program.

You can tell critics to be proud... or other wise just be still.

(She said sweetly )

I don't necessarily agree with this comment. McCain and Palin are going to lose, regardless of what they actually talk about.

World Markets Collapsing and McCain wants to talk about Reverand Wright and Bill Ayers. I said all along this race will be a landslide!!!

What happened to putting your country first? I thought he would rather lose an election rather than lose a war. Well this is an economic war produced by his buddies and if they think that they're going to make a remote association like Ayers stick, well just you think about Phil Gramm calling us all whiners.

McCain, I like your idea of losing an election in order to win a war. I think the stock market would like saying bye-bye to you and your greedy friends. Be a true patriot--LOSE.

Y'betcha!!

With Michigan and Pennsylvania now essentially solid blue, McCain cannot mathematically win unless he wins ALL of the following:

Virginia [Obama up by 10]
North Carolina [statistical dead heat]
Florida [Obama up by 4]
Ohio [Obama up by 7]
Colorado [Obama up by 3]

Winning all 5 of these [very improbable] would bring the electoral map to a 269-269 tie. In order to win outright, McCain would have to also pick off New Mexico or New Hampshire, where Obama currently holds double-digit leads.

Nobody since Sisyphus has faced this difficult of an uphill battle.

No accountability left in our 'big business' leaders. In other countries, especially Japan, and even China, people who screw up this way either resign or are fired outright. They are also sometimes imprisoned. Look - we even recently ponied up $25bn for the auto industry whose execs have been mismanaging for years and pocketing huge salaries and bonuses.

What the McCain campaign needs to do to be competive is to keep John under wraps so the public doesn't get exposure to his erratic and confused state of mind. They already have the religious wackos convinced Palin is their salvation to take over the world with their intolerant views so they'll back McCain now no matter what happens.

It would also help if they kept Tucker Bounds out of the public eye as he just can't cut it as a compaign spokesperson...............too wimpy and weak with no real answers to questions just gobbly goop.

Don't want to talk about the economy? Fine. It's in people's face already. So let's talk about sanctimonius religious views, the war, education and the draft...
