Dnc Ad On Mccain Negative Ads

The DNC has released a new ad criticizing McCain for his aggressive turn towards negative campaigning. The spot ends with McCain, in a clip on the campaign trail from 2000, saying "if all you run is negative attack ads you don't have much of a vision for the future, or you're not ready to articulate it." As TPM notes, the McCain campaign's ad spending is now nearly 100 percent devoted to attack ads. Watch the DNC's new ad below.

Sooner or later, people are going to figure out if all you run is negative attack ads you don't have much of a vision for the future or you're not ready to articulate it." MCCAINMAKESBERRIES is a paid tr0ll who throws word bombs, then sits back to see how many people respond.

They get paid according to the number of responses. That's why their words are so outrageous and incongruous with what else is going on.

Tr0lls are like Sarah Palin. People know better than to pay them any attention/respond, but they're drawn like moths to a flame. And get burned every time.

BO needs to do an ad (and emphasize in the debate) that McCain gave a whopping ONE WEEK'S worth of attention to the financial crisis before he felt it was "time to turn the page" and "to change the subject" and "to start talking about something else". We're told that the rescue plan is just the beginning and a lot of work needs to be done before we get out of this financial crisis, yet while Obama says "we're not going to stop talking about it until the crisis is solved", McCain believes ONE WEEK is enough time to address the issue. Is this how he deals with a crisis? He gives it minimal amount of attention, and then changes the subject? Another example of complete lack of judgment on how dire this financial situation is. I think BO needs an ad to hammer this one.

This ad needs serious editing As others have said, if you don't actually read the text it sounds like a McCain ad. The text that you MUST read is long and flashed on the screen very quickly. I am a very fast reader and even I couldn't read the text that fast.

Maybe it even more than editing - the creators need to go BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD.

If you don't get the point by what McCain is saying at the end of the commercial all the reading in the world won't help you.

This ad needs changes/re-edit. As the poster below says, drop the Obama chant - it's too loud. Place the McCain segment UP FRONT. And then go into his negative ads. And then the rebuttal.

I am not sure about this ad. For someone not paying too much attention to the campaign might just see the end of this ad and think it is Obama who is the attack man.

I do believe it says at the end as most adds do that it is approved by Barack Obama.

No it doesn't. It was put out by the DNC, not Obama's people.

No it doesn't. It says "paid for by the Democratic National Convention".

i have to agree with the people who have posted here about the editing of this spot... if you're not actually reading the commercial, and i would guess that many people aren't 100% paying attention when the tv's on, all you hear is the scary voice saying "senator obama" over and over... then you hear john mccain talking about negative ads... if you don't read the stuff in between, you could easily believe that this is a mccain ad criticizing obama going negative.

better to have a very clear ad that gets the point across quickly and simply, even if people aren't completely paying attention.

What struck me about this ad is not only how much John McCain has changed the way he articulates his position on attack ads, but how he has physically changed. Now I am REALLY concerned about that growing bulge on his jaw. Like others, I think the beginning of the ad could be polished.

The idea to criticize MC for the "decision to go negative for the purpose of to avoid talking about the economy".

This is the main point.

This ad is not clear.
It should be simpler.
We are not in an video art context

Dear Friend:

Are you ready yet for the November 4th Elections? How about your friends, family, and neighbors?
More Americans are expected to vote this year than ever before in history, so don’t be left out! Be sure to ask everyone you know the following questions:
• Are you registered to vote? If you moved recently, have you updated your voter registration?
• Did you apply for an Absentee Ballot? Do you know your state may not require any reason?
• Can you find your local Polling Place? Do you know it may have changed from last time?
The answers to these questions -- and all your voting needs -- can be found at www.StateDemocracy.org
