Dnc Ad On Mccain Negative Ads

The DNC has released a new ad criticizing McCain for his aggressive turn towards negative campaigning. The spot ends with McCain, in a clip on the campaign trail from 2000, saying "if all you run is negative attack ads you don't have much of a vision for the future, or you're not ready to articulate it." As TPM notes, the McCain campaign's ad spending is now nearly 100 percent devoted to attack ads. Watch the DNC's new ad below.

My initial thought was that a lot of people will be confused by this ad.

My second thought was, wow John McCain is about 8 years past his "used by" date.

I agree.

I thought the start was a little "Helter Skelter."

They might have been better off going something like this:

Start with "is this the change you want?"

Then show Senator McCain speaking against negative campaigning with the date more prominently displayed.

Then show Senator McCain in the act of negative campaigning.

Finally show Senator Obama with the caption "Obama/Biden, change you can believe in" prominently displayed.

Just sayin

This ad moves too fast, I couldn't read it! They need to calm down and let people actually tell what is going on. One thought at a time, please!

Oh yeah, baby! It's about time. There is absolutely no better way to demonstrate the GOP's erratic message than to let them explain it themselves.

I'm Kimberly in Denver and I APPROVE THIS MESSAGE, Baby!

This Ad is ridiculous as it is not clear, I'm really starting to have serious concerns about the DNC, these are the same people who helped Kerry lose... maybe they have under cover repubs working there somethings not right!!

That's pretty good. It ties McBush's hypocrisy around his neck like a lump of concrete then pushes him off the bridge. Well done.

I think this ad could be effective because it taps into an undercurrent of growing voter dissatisfaction with the McCain/Palin ticket, a growing disapproval of the Republican brand, McCain's rising unfavorables ratings and it uses McCain's own words against him.

Oh McCain 2000, must you make McCain 2008 look so bad?

McCain only relies on the bad judgment of the voters.

MCCAIN: "Uh, I, I just have to rely on the good judgment of the voters not to buy into these negative attack ads. Sooner or later, people are going to figure out if all you run is negative attack ads you don't have much of a vision for the future or you're not ready to articulate it." Yeah, but there should be a positive assertion in this same ad.

We show he's not offering anything but negative. Because in his own words, he's got nothin'.

We've got something, which is why this is our economic plan...and then lay out a few high points.

Juxtaposed in the same ad it draws a greater contrast.

Because, as we know; if it's all negative, ya got nothin'
