Nicole Kidman Elle

New mom Nicole Kidman talked to the November issue of Elle magazine as she gets ready to promote "Australia." Divorced from Tom Cruise, she is now married to country singer Keith Urban and had daughter Sunday Rose in July.

On marriage to Keith vs. Tom:
"I didn't foresee it, that you can meet somebody who you have a deep and more profound love with... I don't mean to take away anything with Tom, but I would hope that he has the same thing - I know he has the same thing with Katie. You move into a stage where you're able to be a more fuller person in your relationship...

"I want to be really careful with that because I don't want to take away from 11 years with that man that were really important. Really, for our kids -- they were amidst a lot of love. It wasn't bad. And now we're amidst a more evolved love."

On whether or not she felt she married Tom Cruise too young:

"Would I want my kids to get married at that age? No! But that was an extraordinary thing for me. [Tom] taught me an enormous amount - as a girl into a woman. Absolutely, I would do it again."

On becoming a mother later in life:

"At 41, it's a more painful love. I look at that little girl, and I'm, like, Oh, no, what's going to happen? It's almost like my heart is stretching; I'm feeling all these muscles stretch with emotion. It's a beautiful love but there's a lot of fear and pain for her life, and for Bella's and Connor's life. I like to believe that nothing was stopping Sunday from coming into the world."

On natural childbirth:

"It was the most beautiful thing to go through with him [husband Keith Urban]. I had a great team of women, too. At one point there were nine women in the room and Keith."

On husband Keith Urban:

"He's the greatest man besides my dad I've ever met. He's loyal and he's a soul searcher. He'll kill me for...He's very very private."

On living in Tennessee:
"There's something to be said for going back to a simple form of living - nature and family. There's something very...there's safety in that."

I'm surprised, but she doesn't sound very bright.

I think she said "he will kill me for.." referring to her spilling th beans on his soul trapping. It does not say "he will kill for me"

Did she say Keith would "kill for her"? Or did she say: "He's the greatest man besides my dad I've ever met. He's loyal and he's a soul searcher. He'll kill me for...He's very very private."

This looks like the headline writer got it mixed up (maybe unintentionally...or maybe to draw in more readers). She didn't say he'd kill FOR her. She said her husband would kill HER (for talking about him in an interview, when he's a private person).

"He'll kill for me." Huh? "He WILL kill for me." Not 'He WOULD kill for me", as in, IF NECESSARY, but he WILL kill for me. Who is going to kill? I think Urban is pretty hot, but I didn't know he was a killer. Weird.

She divorced Tom Cruise about seven or eight years ago, and she still backtracks like crazy every time she comes close to criticizing him. You have to wonder what he's still holding over her head. She's won an Oscar, and has as much star status as he does these days, so I don't think she's worried about him destroying her career. She still seems scared to death of something he could do. I smell a great tell-all auto-biography!

Yes, really. In every interview I've read she swears she still loves the guy too. there comes a time to move in life. After it appeared that he dumped her after 10 yrs of marriage, Nicole said "I don't know what happened" yet Tom said "Nicole knows why I divorced her." Something is deep there. The children call Katie mom and we rarely ever see them with Nicole. Hmmmmm......

I think there must be some cultural differences in the English language between Australian and American English. I think that what she meant by "He would kill for me..." might be better expressed here in the states by saying that she feels safe because of him.

Obviously, here in the States the literal meaning of what she said means something rather tawdry, and I do not think that a class act like Nicole intended to say that.

What is the big deal with Nicole Kidman - her claim to fame was marrying Tom Cruise and basically has never made a box office hit. Good luck to her, though move on.

Nicole Kidman is an extraordinary actress. Haven't you seen her work?

She's a great actress but I'm tired of the MSM saying she's beautiful. The woman is stick straight, no curves and is pale as a glass of milk.

Have you seen her movies or heard her interviewed? She is a wonderful actress, and an astoundlngly intelligent woman. Tom Cruise really lost out.

She won an Oscar - her ex-husband didn't.

I sure hope not. I wouldn't want my spouse to be an animal abuser - nothing is less sexy than killing sentient, feeling beings and stuffing them in your mouth, when there are so many cruelty-free choices

O, lighten up.

She is just using an old saying .. to mean ... he would do anything for me ... as in... he would protect me and my family ... he loves me to death ... etc...

I agree with you 100%. I do believe that she means he would do anything to protect her. I'm not sure what she means. But I agree, people who hunt are missing some basic humanity and are very unappealing.

I'm sorry, but if animals were not meant to be eaten...they would probably taste bad. Remember, that powerful brain of yours was evovlved from the high protien diet of our ancestors. Let not be so sensitive and let other humans eat what they want...which is usually a mix of animal and plant life. As a side note...I'd kill for Nicole....she's great.

I hope someday she writes a good book about her encounters with Stanley Kubrick, "The Stanley Kubrick Archives" are available this month at Taschen books. I wonder if Ziegler inherited the door-to-door baking powder fortune.

Kidman is an inspiration, even for one that hasn't gone through a painful divorce. I could be very wrong, but most marriages I believe, start with the premise of loving your spouse forever. Sometimes, like hers, doesn't work. But 11 years, is a very long time. Her message is that love evolves, and even if her marriage to Tom ended, she does cherished those happy years. I am happy for her and Keith - for her 3 children. That she is not bitter, take the good with the bad, is a message in and of itself.

I guess for others who has the same circumstances, maybe it's time to let go bitterness, and move on.

God Bless !

It's odd that she would mention the comment that Keith would kill for her. I'm sure Tom would have done the same... or at least had a low-ranking Scientolologist do it if she only joined the group.

There are some of us whose pettiness is so much ingrained in their character, that at the very least, will look for flaws of another human being, just to make them feel good and sleep at night.

And there are those who can appreciate that a man will protect his family against all perils. I don't take Kidman's comment as odd - my Dad would protect his family no matter what. I know my Dad will die for his family.

I'm not saying anything is wrong with wanting to protect your family to the death. I'm just pointing out that is NOT what she said. She's totally being misquoted in the headline.

The headline is wrong. In the text she implied that he would kill HER for revealing things about him. "He would kill me for...... He's very private."

The touching passage about "the simple form of living" reminds me of Marie Antoinette and her female attendants who, for fun, use to dress up as lowly shepherdesses. Ah, well. A kazillion dollars can't guarantee happiness, I suppose. Wishing her well.

I think this headline might be misleading... I believe she meant that he'd "kill" her for speaking about their relationship because he's "very, very private." I don't think she is saying that he would "kill for" her, as the headline implies.

Enough about the title. I'm concerned about a husband who lands in rehab before the ink is dry on his marriage license.

After reading what she had to say about Cruise, I am struck by what a class act Kidman seems to be. Best of luck to her and her family.

I thought the same thing, you don't hear that many divorced people talk like that, and all divorced parents seem to forget about the kids when they trash one another. I think she's beautiful, talented and classy. A great combination!
