A new SurveyUSA poll finds John McCain's chances of winning Virginia slipping away. Barack Obama is ahead in the state by ten points, 53% to 43%. The full results:

As McCain's Lead Among White Virginians Shrinks, So Too His Chances of Holding The State's 13 Electoral Votes: 29 days until votes are counted in Virginia, Democrat Barack Obama is ahead 53% to 43%, according to this SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for WDBJ-TV in Roanoke, WJLA-TV in Washington DC, WTVR-TV in Richmond, and WJHL-TV in the Tri-Cities. In 4 tracking polls conducted since the Republican Convention, McCain has gone from up by 2 to down by 10.

There is movement among men, where immediately after the GOP convention, McCain led by 10, and where today Obama leads by 11.

There is movement among whites, where McCain's once 22-point lead is today reduced to single digits.

There is movement among the well-to-do, where today for the first time Obama leads.

There is movement among pro-choice voters, where Obama's lead has doubled since August.

McCain no longer leads in any region of the state. In Northeastern VA, which includes the DC suburbs, Obama leads by 24 points. In Central Virginia, home of the Confederate White House, the Museum of the Confederacy and Appomattox, Obama today leads by 8. In Southeastern Virginia, Obama leads by 11. In the Shenandoah, where John McCain led by 24 points one month ago, Obama and McCain today tie.

Filtering: SurveyUSA interviewed 900 Virginia adults 10/04/08 and 10/05/08. Of the adults, 832 were registered to vote. Of the registered voters, 666 were determined by SurveyUSA to be likely voters in the 11/04/08 general election. Virginia has 13 Electoral College votes. George W. Bush carried Virginia by 8 points in both 2004 and 2000. Virginia last cast its Electoral College votes for a Democratic Presidential candidate in 1964, when Lyndon Johnson defeated Barry Goldwater.

A Suffolk Poll shows Obama with a similarly commanding lead in the state, 51% to 39%.

On OffTheBus, Diane Tucker reports that new voter registration in Virginia has far exceeded the Obama campaign's goals. The Politico adds that Virginia Republicans are warning McCain that he could lose the state, which has gone Republican in every presidential election since 1964.

John McCain has pulled the ultimate low. Just saw one of his ads here in Ohio. The ad shows a picture of Barack Obama. The picture has been darkened to show Obama as a very dark black man. This is another racist move to scare white people. To feed to their perception that darker blacks are worse than lighter blacks. I want to hit McCain with everything that we can muster. He never should have started this because he has not been fully vetted. I think that Obama was totally vetted during the primary season. Now the RNC wants to audit Obama's campaign donors. These people won't stop because they know that they have been beaten. Obama needs extra security because of these haters.

The shame is not just how we feel about him presently. History is won't be so kind to this impostor of the so called "Country First" senator. This man went from sugar to s**t in a matter of weeks. Getting slaughtered at the polls in November will put an exclamation point on his loss. Especially, if he is massacred in Republican states. Seems as though McCain ran his campaign as he flew his planes, three crash & burns. So sad.

This is why I'm "Soon to be Blue Virginia"!

People I never would have thought would even consider voting for Obama/Biden have come up to me and whispered that they are going to vote for the thicket!

Saw The Man on Saturday--20,000+

and the local Obama office registered over 400+ new voters!

It's going to be beautiful!

Go O!

There are a LOT of dirty tricks going on in Virginia to try and supress the Obama vote. In my hometown of Blacksburg, home of Virginia Tech, students are being told they will not be claimable on their parents taxes if they vote Obama. They are being told they will lose their independent student status...they are being threatened with losing their financial aid. And a brick was thrown through Obama headquarter windows last week. They are really really worried about losing Virginia. And they are doing everything they can to assure it stays a red state. Why isn't the main stream media covering this?

Fantastic news! I'm proud of my native state for the 1st time! opps...guess I'd better not plan to run for office after making a statement like that! haha Actually, with guys in there like Tim Kaine and Mark Warner, I'm not surprised this once scarlet red state is turning cool blue. Cautiously optimistic!

YEAH! The more McCain attacks Obama, the more he will sink in the polls. Just watch. Americans are tired of this game and it is growing more obvious each day, even in Republican states!! Yes, Troopergate-there is no doubt she interfered with a workmans comp case, forget the interference in his firing! Trying to influence someones workmans comp payments is serious business. Palin is a scary power freak. Scary because of power hungry she is, yet SO dumb and so extremely right wing.......
