The three best journalists in the country are Keith Olbermann, Bill Moyer, and Amy Goodman. Each has a different style, but each is scrupulously honest and fact-oriented. Were it not for them -- well, I shudder to think what. Many of the big names in network news claim to be even handed politically, but they pose their questions in so skewed a way that the answers, by necessity, are slanted. It's a old trick, and it seems to work with listeners who don't have a keen ear for manipulation.

While we're on the subject of excellence, let's not overlook Jon Stewart and Steven (Stephen?) Colbert. When Ike was running for president, I had a professor at Washington U in St. Louis who opined that what the country needed desperately was ten good satirists. We have two, at least, and they're humdingers.

McCain and Palin can't sell their platform because even they realize that they have no substantive policies to present which differ significantly from those of the Bush years.

So instead they rely on instilling fear and hatred of somebody who is "different", a philosophy that is consistent with the history of the extreme right of the GOP.  They are all about morality, but care nothing about ethics.

I couldn't have agreed with you more last night Keith. I am so glad you brought up Palin's husband and him being a terriorist and actually doing terriorist activities. Obama has not done such a thing, he worked on a committee. I with this were talked about more often and shut them down. Most people don't know that about her husband or the radical group John McCain has been palling around with.
