Palin Calls Afghanistan "Our Neighboring Country"

Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin called Afghanistan "our neighboring country" on Sunday in a speech that could revive questions over her tendency to stumble into linguistic knots.

Three days after a mostly gaffe-free debate performance, the Alaska governor fumbled during a speech in which she praised U.S. soldiers for "fighting terrorism and protecting us and our democratic values".

While my 4th-grader son may not able to point out Afghanistan on the map, but he sure knows it is not next to the U.S. and wouldn't make a gaff about it.

This is a minor Biden-style gaff. Nobody thinks she thinks Afghanistan abuts the U.S.A. There are much much worse things to focus on in the campaign. This is equivalent to commenting on mismatched china placesetting aboard the Titanic.

Just wondering - which VP candidate talk about FDR speaking on the TV to the nation in 1929? I thought so. These meaningless smears may be humorous but only a fool would suggest they go to one's intellect. It would be best that until Obama and Biden shows linguistic perfection I'd kind of lay off this fluff.
