Palin Calls Afghanistan "Our Neighboring Country"

Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin called Afghanistan "our neighboring country" on Sunday in a speech that could revive questions over her tendency to stumble into linguistic knots.

Three days after a mostly gaffe-free debate performance, the Alaska governor fumbled during a speech in which she praised U.S. soldiers for "fighting terrorism and protecting us and our democratic values".

A mild Freudian slip... ever since invading and occupying Iraq (and whipping up an insurgency and bloodbath that previously didn't exist there), we have -- kinda, sorta -- made Afghanistan our "neighbor".

... and, turning an old truism on its head, bad fences make bad neighbors. Invading next door doesn't earn you a warm welcome to the new neighborhood.

On Sept.11 when the first tower was hit and America didn't know what was happening.­..the President wasn't allowed to land...Che­ney was our President for those early terrifiying moments. It makes me shudder to think that we could be in that position again with Sarah, Joe Six Pack,hockey mom, winking Palin making executive decisions. If that alone isn't enough to choose Obama, I don't know what is. I am a registered Republican turned Democrat since McCain made this ridiculous choice for his running mate. I don't know what Palin finds so funny...bu­t every speech she makes she looks like she's trying out to be a host of a game show, not the second highest job in our land.
