Reuters :

Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin called Afghanistan "our neighboring country" on Sunday in a speech that could revive questions over her tendency to stumble into linguistic knots.

Three days after a mostly gaffe-free debate performance, the Alaska governor fumbled during a speech in which she praised U.S. soldiers for "fighting terrorism and protecting us and our democratic values".

she's absoluely right. all we have to do is make Iraq the 51 st state, so she can impose a windfall profits tax on Iraqi oil producers, and then it's just a short McCain hop, skip, and jump over Iran to the Iraqi Afghanistan border. Wendell Wilkie said it first : One World.

Geography was never a strong point with Palin, she thinks Russia is just up the Yellow Brick Road.

The one thing Sarah Icurus has right is that she is in many ways an "average joe six pack," that is, like many Americans she walks around with a sense of confidence and entitlement that far exceeds her accomplishments or abilities. Like contestants on a reality show who see eating worms in front of millions of people as "their big break," she seeks the fame and fortune without the discipline or character it takes to actually earn such recognition. Once upon a time, telling your child they could grow up to be president was an encouragement toward meritocracy, that it would inspire them to study hard and develop their character. Now apparently all it takes is being the ninth caller.

Well said. Everytime I listen to Palin talk spontaneously about anything important, I have a flashback to junior high (all the way through college) when the arrogant but lazy kids didn't bother to do homework on the theory that if they talked generically enough about anything, the teacher would give them a gentlemen's C-....that is how both GWB and McCain got through school. When I was a kid, it was pretty funny, especially when the kids aspired to get into the arts college of our fine state university and ended up in the repository for the terminally dumb in which nobody ever emerged with any kind of degree. But the idea that one of those anti-intellectual lazy louts could wind up president is pretty alarming.

Palin talks a lot about when she was in second grade -- did she learn anything beyond second grade?

Palin's grammer and world knowledge is that of a second grader.

It is very clear that she knows nothing about the constitution and the separation of powers. If she knew about it and respected it, she would hardly use her powers as a high state official as a vehicle for acting out personal grudges. And that bit about how she wants to enhance (what was the word she used) the powers of the VP...what could be scarier than that. Either the schools in Alaska really suck or Palin is a disinterested student (or both).

Funnies from the debate.
From WSJ:

[ Biden ] also invited Americans to join him at "Katie's restaurant" in Wilmington to witness middle-class struggles. Just one problem: Katie's closed in the 1980s. The mistake is more than a memory lapse because it exposes how phony is Mr. Biden's attempt to pose for this campaign as Lunchbucket Joe.

A little self-deprecation is much nicer to see than the overweening hubris of Palin, Bush and the rest of the clueless the Republicans put out in front of the ones really running this country.

I do beleiev the media is more ignorant then Palin, I wish they would stop to think about what this would do to them, their children and their grandchildren!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This woman is only attractive to low information voters who do not even think about politics in any given day, they have no idea what or who they are voting for................ God help us all if these two menaces get into the WH.

I agree. The members of the media are human beings of course. Why are they letting McCain and Palin roll over them when our country's future will be in doubt if they are elected.

Here is how Sarah Palin has affected McCain's campaign ( in terms that even she can understand):... She should have been not so pretty and more smarter..
