By suggesting that Barack Obama's relationship with Rev. Jeremiah Wright is a legitimate campaign issue, Sarah Palin appears to have sunk below the standard espoused by John McCain himself earlier this year.

In an interview with neoconservative columnist Bill Kristol, Palin said: "To tell you the truth, Bill, I don't know why that association isn't discussed more, because those were appalling things that that pastor had said about our great country, and to have sat in the pews for 20 years and listened to that -- with, I don't know, a sense of condoning it, I guess, because he didn't get up and leave -- to me, that does say something about character. But, you know, I guess that would be a John McCain call on whether he wants to bring that up."

But the fact is, McCain has already made his call on whether he wants to "bring that up" fairly clear. Beyond deciding not to do so himself, he offered some implicit criticism for anyone else who would.

In March, after being given the opportunity by Fox News' Sean Hannity to hit his opponent on Wright, McCain refused.

"I think that when people support you, it doesn't mean you support everything they say. Obviously, those statements are things none of us would associate ourselves with," McCain said.

After Hannity listed more potential reasons to make Wright an issue, McCain drew a deep breath and decided not to go there. "I do know Sen. Obama, he does not share those views."

In April, after the North Carolina Republican Party uncorked an attack ad linking Obama and Wright in April, McCain asked that they put it back in the box. While candidates often distance themselves from the tougher party-issued ads, McCain went further than that. As the Associated Press reported at the time:

"We asked them not to run it," McCain told reporters on his campaign bus in Kentucky Wednesday. "I'm sending them an e-mail as we speak asking them to take it down.

"I don't know why they do it. Obviously, I don't control them, but I'm making it very clear, as I have a couple of times in the past, that there's no place for that kind of campaigning, and the American people don't want it," McCain said.

McCain said the ad was described to him: "I didn't see it, and I hope that I don't see it."

Does McCain now think the American people want a discussion of Wright from his running mate? The Huffington Post has asked a McCain campaign spokesperson for an update.

As Americans all we have to do is go back to the very first primary. Iowa showed us the way, the truth and gave us the light to walk down the right path this election campaign. It was not about race, Rev. Wright or Bill Ayers. It was about the best candidate with new and different ideas of leadership, to lead America for such a time as this. America will not survive with the same old racist politics. It really is time for “real change. “

We must all realize that Sarah Palin is the one that the media cannot ask any questions because then it will be sexist. So for her to go back into the Rev. Wright and Bill Ayers saga is a desperate tactic to once again segregate the vote. Americans should ask themselves, “Why aren’t you talking about the issues? Better yet still, let’s really talk about your character?

If America get caught up in the Rev. Wright and Bill Ayers saga again, we are in worst shape then we were before. The whole wide world gets to see how racist America is in this election campaign, to allow the power elite and money brokers to manipulate this election campaign for the “good old boys” to reclaim the White House by using a woman

Jeez, Palin makes Rev. Wright look like a putty cat. She and Hubby want Alaska to secede from our U.S.A.... that makes her look like a gal who doesn't think America is such a great country!

When she gets all the power to control our Senate as she's says Cheney says she can do, and she wants to do, will she secede us from the US and take our taxes and create some freaky Patriot cult like Tim McVeigh embraced?

Sarah, you aren't looking good.

Let's not forget Sarah's own preacher problems...protecting against witchcraft and driving out witches??? Scary

With a video of a preacher attempting to exorcize witches from her, Gov. Palin would be wise to steer clear of smearing another's preacher. Poor judgment.

"Palin Goes Against McCain In Bringing Up Wright"? Please. I don't believe that for a second. McCain put her out there to say it because he wanted it out there, without looking like he's breaking his own campaign promise.

Just like "suspending his campaign" when the ads ran anyway.

Either way, it looks bad for McCain. If he cannot control the agenda of his campaign, how can he control the agenda of ruling the United States if he wins (God forbid)?

Palin actually said "because he didn't get up and leave." Um... Senator Obama was not even THERE during those sermons where Rev. Wright went bat-crazy with his words. I personally agreed with what Wright was saying, though I found it inflammatory, but Palin is straight up lying by saying Obama was at the sermons and therefore silently agreed with them by not "getting up and leave(ing)."

This next month is going to be the most negative campaign ever constructed. The question is: is it going to work? Is pushing aside all the issues and real concerns of the American public the best way to become our leader?

Did anyone notice that in the article above regarding McC's earlier insistence on pulling an ad that brought up negatives about Obama that he was quoted as saying "I'm sending them an email right now"...............Would he lie about not knowing how to send email? I wouldn't doubt it after all the other lies he's told. Anyway, I thought that was interesting but in a very small way. inconsequential way.

Perhaps the Maverick has been harnessed to a "loose cannon". Hard to believe she would say that stuff with out him consenting though.

Definitely time for the Obama campaign to unleash the Democratic 527 groups. Palin obviously really enjoys sticking in the knife and it's time for her to get a dose of the same.

Gosh darnit! Gov. Palin is treading on thin ice here. Golly! She is, after all, the woman who said that war was a "task from God" (part of a "plan" that she hopes is "God's plan.") (Forget neocon labels. How about "Neo-Crusader?" Better yet, Sarah. Just wave a red flag at those darn jihadis.)

And then, my goodness! There's her church's controversial views on "deprogramming" gay folks, coupled with her own views on banning books. How have those folks influenced her?

I think we need a little less "my church is more rightous than your church" and a little more of the "tolerance" that she claims to have. Dagnabbit!

I read somewhere that Sarah Palin was in an organization that wanted Alaska to be independent from the United States. If this is true, can't we assume she is unamerican. Her critizing Senator Obama for sitting in Rev. Wrights church for 20 years is no different then catholics staying at a church where pedophiles worshiped. Since the Mccain camp want to play dirty by bringing up William Ayers, the Obama camp should give it right back to them. They should make an ad showing that picture of William Ayers from the 60's when he was causing chaos and mayhem and put a picture of Senator Obama from the 60's and let the voters see how stupid McCain and his camp look l blaming a child for associating with a terrorist, whom he didn't know at that time. In the same ad they should show McCain and the Keating Five mess so voters can see McCain was of age during that debacle. Matter of fact he wasn't just associated with that debacle, he was in it. Senator Obama and his camp doesn't have to get back at the Mccain camp in a offense way, they can do things in a way that is truthful. As for Rezco, he should be able to sell any house or land to Senator Obama at any price if the house and land is his.

Sarah Palin has a lot of nerve. She lives in a glass house with cracks and one stone would send it crashing into teeny weeny pieces. She is a virtual unknown ...except to those of the James Dobson mindset (and that should be warning enough) for I find him to be very hypocritical that he embrace this woman who lies and lies and lies all the day long and still consider her a person with family values...as her baby is trotting all over town and attending functions way pass his bedtime. She openly flirts...(but keep in mind this is a "Godly" woman) and she uses her sexuality to engage the public...and on top of this..she flutter her eyes and occasionally wink at the camera. This is an epitome of a Jezebel that has all the trimmings of a ruthless woman that ultimately (according to the Bible) were eaten up by dogs. And yet she calls herself a ptibull with lipstick. Go figure
