Wolfson: The Race Is Over; Ayers Can't Save McCain

Perpetually fretting Democrats will not want to accept it. The campaigns themselves can't afford to believe it. Many journalists know it but can't say it. And there will certainly be some twists and turns along the way. But take it to a well capitalized bank: Bill Ayers isn't going to save John McCain. The race is over.

John McCain's candidacy is as much a casualty of Wall Street as Lehman or Merrill. Like those once vibrant institutions, McCain's collapse was stunning and quick. One minute you are a well-respected brand. The next you are yelling at the messengers of your demise as all around you the numbers start blinking red and stop adding up.

While I sure hope Wolfson is right, I take nothing for granted when it comes to Republican smear tactics. I live in Virginia and will be spending my weekend volunteering for Dems...kno­cking on doors.

There is a lot of fear that the election of Obama will end the current power structure of the U.S.
Regardless of how much people say they are ready for change, fear tends to bring them back to what they know even if evidence shows it is not working. That is what Republicans are banking on...insec­urity and fear. It worked quite well in 2004.

This obsession of McCain to win the Presidency seems to be an extension of his life's perils. His grandfather was a Navy Admiral, and his father also was an Admiral. However, after his goofs as a POW, his hopes of becoming an Admiral were pretty much knocked out of the picture. So, he covets the Presidency to try and prove he is as good as his father and grandfather. Could be.

Utilites are being turned off for non-paying customers who have a choice of eating or staying warm/cool. This is the land of riches? Something is very wrong.

John McCain is resorting to smears instead of tackling the real issues, like how partially-disabled war veterans can't send emails, or decades-old banking scandals where Democratic counsels said McCain should not have been investigated in the first place.

I've heard a lot of people pointing out the hypocrisies on the right (protecting pro-life terrorists, palling up with the likes of G. Gordon Liddy, Palin being connected to the Alaska Independence Party, Palin's witch-hunter Pastor Muthee, etc.) in the William Ayers smears, but I have one more to add. I was just on a different message board where a right-winger was posting an article trying to link Obama and Ayers. The right-wing website just happens to have a writer named David Horowitz, who runs FrontPage Magazine (with guest writers like Ann Coulter and Charles Krauthammer), writes for right-wing publications like Newsmax, and appears on countless right-wing radio shows. Guess what David Horowitz was in the past? That's right, a left-wing radical tied to the Black Panthers. Horowitz was an admitted Marxist whose parents were both members of the Communist Party. Horowitz worked for socialist/marxist Bertrand Russell, who at the time said Americans were "imperialists" committing "war crimes" in Vietnam.

Now, would right-wingers make the logical leap that anybody associated with David Horowitz in modern times is "tied" to "radical left-wing terrorists" because of Horowitz's past associations?

Well, the fat lady is singing. When McCain mess us up with our health care plan, then I want to see who we will cry for Obama then? We were not on the board with Obama and Ayers, so what is it that we the American people can say? I don't remember seeing any of us living next door to Obama or Ayers. So how can we say what is scary or not. I guess we all forgot that it was said when CNN went over the history of McCain's and Obama's. It stated that McCain wanted to commit suicide when he was in the war. So if McCain could not take pressure then that means that he can't take it now. So would we rather have someone in the White House who may commit suicide under pressure with a pain killer medication addicted wife or someone who knows how to let the pressure roll off their back?

John McCain has absolutely sold out to the dark side. He wants to be President so badly he doesn't care what trash he throws out there. Do you see this guy as an honorable POW, a strong citizen?
