Brigitte Bardot

French film legend-turned-activist Brigitte Bardot took a swipe at Sarah Palin on Tuesday, saying the US vice presidential candidate was a disgrace to women.

"I hope you lose these elections because that would be a victory for the world," Bardot wrote in an open letter to Republican John McCain's running mate in the November vote.

"By denying the responsibility of man in global warming, by advocating gun rights and making statements that are disconcertingly stupid, you are a disgrace to women and you alone represent a terrible threat, a true environmental catastrophe," wrote Bardot.

The screen icon from the 1960s, who now heads an animal rights foundation, went on to assail Palin for supporting Arctic oil exploration that could jeopardize delicate animal habitats and for dismissing measures to protect polar bears.

"This shows your total lack of responsibility, your inability to protect or simply respect animal life," Bardot wrote.

In a final salvo against Palin, the 74-year-old ex-star picked up on Palin's depiction of herself as a pitbull wearing lipstick and said she "implored" her not to compare herself to dogs.

"I know them well and I can assure you that no pitbull, no dog, nor any other animal for that matter is as dangerous as you are," Bardot wrote.

Kudos for Brigitte!!! I wish more women took the courage to voice their disgust with Palin!
She(Palin) is definitely not a 21 century woman. Old backward ideas of no choice, not environmental , shooting endangered animals , guns ,drilling, knows nothing about science so does not believe in global warming but believes in creation and all sorts of cultish voodoos, which were so popular in the past centuries.Yet she is a cruel and ambitious and power hungry woman! She truly is an insult to educated women!
When I was young, people always said I looked like Brigitte who was older. I remember she vacationed in Buzios, a beach resort in Brazil where I too had a house .A whole avenue there is still named after her Orla BARDOT and a bronze statue. I was later her fan since she became a spokesperson for animals.

Sarah Palin is a shrew, an airhead and knows nothing about politics. It's obvious that everything she said in the 'debate' was spoon-fed. They did admit that she had to go though a 'debate boot camp' so she'd have something to say other than 'can I call you Joe?' What a dingle berry!
Haven't we had enough of the right wing religious zealotry? By the way, thanks for the ad for the film 'The God Who wasn't There'. I watched it the other day, and you should see it if you haven't. I borrowed the DVD from my local public library. Mixing religion and politics is WRONG!
My latest beef against the right wingers is using Obama's middle name again in speeches, implying he is a Muslim and has a connection to Al Queda or whatever. How dare they? He has said again and again he is a Christian. Get over it already!

I am so angry. If Obama doesn't get elected, this country will fall into a much deeper hole than we are already in after 8 years of the criminals Bush & Cheney!

Oh, and it is nice to see/hear from Brigitte! Wow!

Oui, Oui! You go girl. I Love Brigette! I am glad that someone has put this Jezebel in her place. I cannot believe that this demon has the legion that she has following her. She is a disgrace to women. She needs to slide backunder the Yukon rock she crawled out of!

She is scary in terms of how she treats women too: By cutting funds for rape kits wanted to be sure nobody received emergency contraception under her watch. She belongs to Feminists For Life, a group that actively tries to deter women from taking Plan B, which is the best type of emergency contraception now available. In two easy links from Feminists for Life’s home page, one finds volumes of misleading information designed to scare women and convince them the drug induces abortion. (It does not.) Her whacko group opposes all hormonal methods!!! They are gunning for your pills girls!

Palin hedged Katie Couric’s query whether she condones or condemns Plan B: “Personally I would not choose to participate in that form of contraception.” This implies she thinks something is wrong or harmful about the drug, though it is simply a high dose of regular birth control pills.

It was downright irresponsible of her to stigmatize the drug. Many people do not know that Plan B is the safe, proven treatment for rape survivors and women who experience birth control failures. Thousands are buying Palin’s designer glasses and copying her hairstyle. Lord knows how many will shun this crucial treatment as a result of one sound bite alone.

Some women prefer women with balls. Hillary didn't get the nomination however. I prefer the pretty Christian women. Gotcha! Wink! She is not hard to look at either, unlike Briget Bardot and all those non women on The View!!! Woopie!!! Come on!!!

nobody wants a woman with balls, and not like palin anyway. we would like for our women to be bright and intelligent, if they are seeking a high office. that's the problem with some of you men,you are only looking at palin's looks, and they aren't that hot. i don't know who the christian you're refering to, I hope to god it is not palin

She may be pretty to look at, but maybe not to live with or....not for president or Vp, ok?
Lets not confuse the issues. She will probably take your viagra away too, since its unnatural and sinful...then you will cry too!

"Kinomd" - Wow, that's a great reason to vote for someone to run our country! You are clever enough to realize that is the only reason McCain picked Palin to be his running mate. He was also hoping he would get Hilary Clinton's supporters but their nasty campaign tactics are backfiring on them!

Bridget Bardot's politics lean to the extreme right.

It is always more impactful to hear someone of her own party express misgivings (to put it mildly) toward Palin.

The polical stunts P alin is pulling on the campain trail - trying to illicit fear and loathing toward Obama is unamerican. And people have been asking whether it is legal.

Everything Palin says about Obama is hogwash (with lipstick).

A woman degrading another woman who's competing in a man's world is a disgrace.
I guess women's lib only applies to successes for women in the same political party.

Try reading her statement again, only this time with your eyes open. It's not about women competing with women...jeesh what a dolt.

Just because someone is of the same gender, doesn't mean you support them, just like just because someone is a man, all men wouldn't support him. It's not about political parties, it's about someone (male or female) advocating policies or philosophies clearly not in keeping with peace, the health of our planet or the health of the world economy. Sarah Palin is not a friend to women, men or the earth in general.

Women's lib has never been about promoting ignorance, nor about extending preferential treatment to women. It is about a level playing field on which women should be treated as equal to men, not better nor worse than men. Ms. Bardot's concerns about Palin echo my own, and we should not be restrained from expressing those concerns simply because Palin is a woman. To suggest that Palin should escape all criticism because she's "competing in a man's world" flies in the face of reason and diminishes the accomplishments of the women's movement.

You must get all your insights from a Starbuck's coffee cup, too. Women and men should have the freedom and intelligence to make rational decisions about candidates, REGARDLESS of gender, not because of it.

Let John McCain know that you find this type of mudslinging campaign unacceptable.

Really? Have you ever run for mayor of your city? Have you become governor? What exactly are you doing to advance the cause of womanhood?

"What exactly are you doing to advance the cause of womanhood?"
Since when is advancing the cause of womanhood justification of putting another idiot in the executive branch? Supporting a woman just because she is a woman is sexist. She's an idiot.

I see no similarity between an intelligent Hillary and an ignorant woman like Palin. She does not stand for anything that Hillary stands for and is not even worthy to stand in her shadow!
Women who voted for Hillary would never vote for the exact opposite, just because she is a woman. We are not all BIMBOS! Bad choice, good only for the lunatic base!

Bardot is a monster. During each of her marriages, she had affairs with other men. And when she became pregnant by third husband, Jacques Charrier, she compared her unborn child to a tumor growing inside her. Eventually, she fobbed the raising of her son onto Charrier's family, and had little contact with him throughout his childhood. Why should we listen to an appraisal of another woman by somebody like Bardot, who can hardly relate to humans at all?

Palin had an affair with her husband's business partner so I guess Palin is a monster too? I think that is a rhetorical question

Palin didn't have an affair with her husband's business partner. That is a made-up story.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:52 PM on 10/09/2008

So what! That's her personal business and is irrelevant. We're talking about Palin, a women no where near ready to be vice president of the United States.

Having affairs does not make you a monster. It makes you al adulterer. Now, being a nepotist, inciting people into violence by stirring people's prejudices against a black candidate who bears a "different last name" and exaggerating his past associations with so called radicals, accepting the position of Vp knowing very well you lack the knowledge and experience to lead this nation if called upon to do so, disregarding the vastly proven evidence of man made climate change, failing to protect endangered species, etc etc in the cummulative will amount to a monster in the making.Bardot might have had many lovers but Palin's real affair is power at any cost and greed.

In Indiana we are boycotting all McCain that is Cindy McCain's family business products. Maybe this will give her even a colder chill down her back. At least temporarily BOYCOTT BUSCH BEER AND DRINK their competitors products which are: Molson, Miller, Heineken and Coors.

This stratedgy could score big because the (BUD) stock is a bit overinflated; possibly because of the InBev offer to buy Budweiser, possibly because rich republicans are buying (BUD) stock for reasons of personal pleasure.

Maybe you should take this idea back to the drawing board and come back when it's thoroughly, as opposed to half, baked.
