Brigitte Bardot

French film legend-turned-activist Brigitte Bardot took a swipe at Sarah Palin on Tuesday, saying the US vice presidential candidate was a disgrace to women.

"I hope you lose these elections because that would be a victory for the world," Bardot wrote in an open letter to Republican John McCain's running mate in the November vote.

"By denying the responsibility of man in global warming, by advocating gun rights and making statements that are disconcertingly stupid, you are a disgrace to women and you alone represent a terrible threat, a true environmental catastrophe," wrote Bardot.

The screen icon from the 1960s, who now heads an animal rights foundation, went on to assail Palin for supporting Arctic oil exploration that could jeopardize delicate animal habitats and for dismissing measures to protect polar bears.

"This shows your total lack of responsibility, your inability to protect or simply respect animal life," Bardot wrote.

In a final salvo against Palin, the 74-year-old ex-star picked up on Palin's depiction of herself as a pitbull wearing lipstick and said she "implored" her not to compare herself to dogs.

"I know them well and I can assure you that no pitbull, no dog, nor any other animal for that matter is as dangerous as you are," Bardot wrote.

From Michelle Obama on Larry King reference Sarah Palin:

"I think she provides an excellent of example of all the different roles that women can and should play," Michelle Obama responded. "I'm a mother with kids and I've had a career and I've had to juggle. She's doing publicly what so many women are doing on their own privately. What we're fighting for is to make sure that all women have the choices that Sarah Palin and I have."

This quote does nothing to bolster an opposing viewpoint. All Michelle Obama says in this quote is that she's a successful lady, and that women like she and Palin should fight to make sure women can be successful. Palin is still atrocious in every way.

Bardot, like a fine wine, improves with age. That was a very good year.

Puller58, what a superficial comment! The French are not so hung up on superficiallity as are most American women.

I'm sorry -but you would have to know all French people to make this statement legitimate, and you do not.

Sarah Palin's campaign is a farce. Everyone knows it but her. Bridget Bardot is gorgeous inside and out. I applaud her for speaking out for animal rights before it was popular. You go girl!

I hate it when celebrities speak as though they are representing alot of other people such as what Bardot is doing. Who died and made her the person that should speak up for women or animals or whatever else. She should go to France and hide and stay there with her opinions. I couldn't disagree with her more and think all you Palin slammers should lay off her a while. Palin is far more successful than any of you all will ever be and she didn't get to where she is by being stupid and all those other nasty words that most of you readers call her.

Well, naturally you have the right to your opinion, but Brigitte Bardot was very successful in her own right, and has championed animals' rights long before it was a very popular cause. Even 25 years ago, she was protesting the clubbing of baby seals. So yes, I believe she does have a right to speak out against Palin, as you have the right to speak in support of her.

Who died and left you the sole arbiter of who has the right to speak up? At least Bardot is smart enough to know an idiot when she sees one.

Once again we see Palin supporters telling not only Americans but every human being in every country on earth to stop saying "nasty words" about her. Ridiculous.

Oh no, she got "there" by firing good people to put in her croonies and hugely abusing her powers. She got there by never being at work but at home instead. She got there by flip flopping all over and she got there thanks to a witch doctor! She was NOT chosen for her "accomplishments" because she has none. She was chosen ro rally the base of crazies and that she has done! If you call that being successful, so be it.

Well, it didn't take me 5 colleges and 6 years to get a degree, I did it in 3 1/2 and it wasn't journalism either.

No, she didn't get where she is by being stupid, she got there by McCain being stupid and picking her!

Some people have all the stupid luck!

Brigitte Bardot was beautiful, and naturally beautiful. No surgeon was involved.

At the time when my Mom and her generation of women were stuck in the role of the perfect housewife, who was not allowed neither to have any opinion of her own nor to have any life of her own outside the well-being of her admired king-husband, Brigitte Bardot in her movies as in real life danced barefoot on tables and openly changed from one lover to the next one.

Though disabled, Brigitte Bardot flew to Canada two years ago to ask Ben Harper to stop the cruel bloodshed of baby seals.

Now Brigitte Bardot slams this joke of a VP wannabe.

U rock, Brigitte !

FIRST SHIRT or is it BROWN SHIRT: What is your point? Michelle Obama is a diplomat. She had no intention of getting into the gutter with Gov. Palin.

given all the magazines and newspapers that palin reads, and all the world journey's she has made - including stops to refuel - she still wouldn't know who brigitte bardot is.

If the headline read "Demented old French Woman Slams Palin," we'd wonder why you were wasting our time. So, why are you wasting our time?

"Demented old French Woman" has got it over Palin, easily, on Bardot's worst day and Palin's best.

If the dictionary was a picture book, Palin's face would be right where it says demented

Somebody who calls him/herself "LRonHubbard" obviously knows all there is to know about being demented.
