Letterman Mccain

David Letterman has spent many days knocking John McCain for canceling on his program because he had to rush to Washington to fix the nation's financial crisis only to be found giving an interview to Katie Couric in New York at the exact time he was due on the "Late Show." But now it appears, according to a report in Tuesday's New York Post, that Letterman may be willing to forgive McCain.

The Post's Don Kaplan reports that the two are negotiating an appearance around the third and final Presidential debate, which takes place in New York:

David Letterman and Sen. John McCain are talking about making up.

McCain representatives and "Late Show" executives are negotiating an appearance on Letterman's show sometime around the final presidential debate on Oct. 15, according to knowledgeable sources.

McCain is expected to be in the New York area that week for the debate at Hofstra University on Long Island.

Representatives for both the McCain campaign and the Letterman show declined to comment yesterday.

if at this time, mccain shows up and dave let him off easy, i can guarantee you that dave will never, ever catch up to leno again. it will only show that dave will be all bluster and no cojones.

i don't think he will though. i've been following him for so many years now, from nbc at 1230am to cbs. i will never ever forget his monologue right after 9/11.

It's all about boosting the networks. Letterman should show some real spine here and not boost McCains ratings at a crucial time before the election.

Same here.

Hopefully Dave will ask McCain the hard questions that the mainstream media continues to ignore.

Say it ain't so, Dave. In the past 24 hours, John McCain and Sarah Palin have allowed members at their rallies to call Senator Obama a terrorist and call for him to be killed. Do you really feel that this man should continue to be given a public forum from which to speak?

Is there some reason why we should care about this?

"McCain representatives and "Late Show" executives are negotiating..." The terms should be that McCain can only come on if he's dressed in that Richard Simmons feather bird suit. Ow, my eyes!

Come on Dave, let's give this character a little something to think about, how about canceling him
without notice. Give him hell, he deserves it. Semper Fi

That would be funny.

Thank heavens McCain came to his senses. He won't be the subject of any more Top 10 lists.

Meanwhile, the Palins are charging hard at the campaign. Check www.dearfirstdude.blogspot.com for Todd's ideas about dealing with the Russian menace.

mccain won't be the subject of the top 10 after coming to the show? you think?

depending on how and what mccain will say, dave will not let him off easy.

dave also may have a surprise for everyone before or after the final debate. sen. obama may just "stop" by and say hello. that would be nice. i'll make sure to stay up that late

I knew it was too good to be true. TV is all about ratings. I'll watch Leno that night.

If McCain is trying to make nice with Letterman it proves that Letterman is the power broker in this relationship. Do what you need to Dave, McCain's lie has already been exposed. Never forgotten.

I wouldn't give an inch with McCain. If Letterman did not have any pull he would have that pitbull out right now calling him an old dried up comic has been, Now tell me I am lying on McCain .

Perhaps, Mr. Letterman should ask Sen. McCain, "What do you think of Palin's inuendo that Obama's a terrorist causing some in the crowd to shout 'kill him?' Do you really think that's Presidential?"

Letterman should not cave and stand his ground on this one...McCain is using him to try and win back some votes. Come on Dave, don't sellout for ratings.

I wouldn't think Letterman would let McCain use him that way. The only reason he wants to make nice is because Letterman is being supported by most of the viewers. If that weren't the case like Couric or Gibson , and they were jumping all over Letterman, McCain would not give a damn.

Don't do it Dave. He is treating the media like crap, when you all were nothing but, sorry to say, his bucket boys. The time is now to stop carrying the bucket for McCain.

I'd advise all of you to try and begin to get on the good side of what looks ike the next President and don't worry about McCain. He will be back begging to get on your shows after Nov, 5th.

If Letterman lets McCain back on and "makes up" with him I will never again watch Letterman. He cannot talk about the truth and being lied to and then laugh it off without looking a fool which he will be to me. I can only hope others will help tank Letterman when he does let McCain back on. A liar should not be rewarded and with the hate and nastiness along with lies aimed at Obama with basis then Letterman will be assisting McCain in what he is doing to Obama. Unbiased might be Letterman talk about the election but a liar who will use anyone and anything isn't the highest person on the list for a "guest". So Letterman go right ahead and support this liar and see you after your fall.
