Letterman

David Letterman may be in talks to have John McCain on his show again, but that doesn't mean he's laying off the Senator for lying to him when he backed out of a scheduled appearance late last month.

On Monday night's "Late Show," Letterman went after McCain again, this time making light of his decision to abandon his campaign efforts in Michigan:

"John McCain has pulled out of Michigan, I guess the surge wasn't working. Yep, this is stunning to me. John McCain blew off Michigan. Well, I know how they feel. I know how they feel. Maybe you noticed that all of John McCain's problems began when he bailed out on this show, were you aware of that? The road to the White House runs right through here."

I don't know about this. MSNBC has a little slide show on its main page of 24 people expressing their opinions about the candidates.

My conclusion about these representatives? There are some seriously anal and dumbed-down people in this country.

Most of the Republicans like McCain because of his experience; never mind that the experience has contributed to the decline in our way of life. But, no, to those people experience in government is an irrefutable qualification. Though they qualify their selection to the tune of they don't like government - period! The less the better. And for citizens who don't live up to THEIR standards - well, c'est domage.

Many of those claiming to be Democrats will also support McCain, for similar reasons. Isn’t that oxymoronic? To declare oneself a Democrat and yet vote conservative?

Anyway, I'm venting. Observing the thoughless rationals of my fellow citizens is disheartening at best. In one way, I hope McCain/Palin win the election, if for no other reason than to bring our country totally down to the depths of despair. At that point maybe we'll pull our heads out. I don't hold out much hope for the people of Montana, though. Montana is the Alaska of the contiguous states.

No, they weren't. Just like the Hispanics in New Mexico (Bracaccio on NOW) who, almost to the man, said they were Democrats but will vote for McCain.

Huh?

I welcome Hispanics to America. I'm very open to that. But if they're that st00pid, please leave. We have plenty of st00pid people to go around.

I thought we were already there. I'm at the end of my tether. I've never seriously considered expatriation, but I wont take any option off the table should Spoiled Sidney and Dimwit Debbie win.

We'll know when we hit bottom when citizens start engaging their minds.

I left 4 years ago, when Bush was re-elected. If McCain should win, I'll not be going back - and several of my family are thinking of joining me in Peru.

I totally disagree. You don't have burn the village down in order to save it.

THIS Nam veteran believes you are living in a dream world. This is NOT 1968!

In the case of this country? The village needs to go down! The absolutely ignorant voting population will never engage critical thought until the horror of the enterprise strikes home, at a personal level.

That you fail to get that speaks volumes about your erudition.

From the republican point of view, "it depends on the village"

A Florida resident and poster at tpm sent an open letter to the big sheriff who introduced Sara Palin in Florida and called Obama by Barack Hussein Obama. Here is the sheriff's email address. I think we should all bombard him with emails expressing our disdain for his behavior. If you would like to read the great letter sent by the Florida resident you can find it at
http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsmemo.com/talk/2008/10/an-open-letter-to-sheriff-mike.php

In the meantime the sheriff's email address is sheriffleefl.orgeefl.org

Let;s all back up our support for this Florida resident by sending our own letters to this racist sheriff.

It'll go in one ear and out the other. The REAL problem is the voters who elected a racist to the position of authority in the first place. Because there is no doubt in my mind that reference to Hussein is designed to be racist.

My condolences to the good Muslims living in this country. Get out while you still can. We're overrun with sheriffs like this guy.

I sent him an email reminding him that now he is well documented as a racial profiler any and all of his traffic stops and arrests can be challenged in court. All they have to do is play that video of that introduction.

Dave, get with it. Bright people with brains who get irreverent cerebral comedy watch your show. But McCain's GOP base is stupid dumb people who'll vote for right wing Armageddon as long as our decider on the way to hell is a Joe 6 pack white trash redneck like them. The viewership of your show doesn't match McCain's Forrest Gump demographics. Too many smart people watch and his spin won't work.

What kind of ego would it take for McCain to be able to go on Letterman - After he treated Letterman like dirt and the nation saw the lie McCain got caught in. If he were a normal, rational person, McCain would have been embarrassed almost beyond repair. He's got some serious mental issues going on that need to be looked at.

When he releases his medical records will it contain his mental health evaluation? Do elected officials have to submit to a mental health evaluation, like our troops do when they sign up? I guess not - that is why we have been stuck with Bush for the last 8 years. And then we have Cheney, who is a dangerous narcissist.

McCain started to plummet when my neighbor throughout the McCain/Palin 08 signs he had in his front yard.

Or was it the other way around?

No offense, Dave, but I don't think McCain's problems started when he blew off your show.... they started when he decided to run for POTUS. Your scathing criticisms of him were an amplification of his already existing campaign issues.

McCain is still revered by those who think everything is fine. That would be the people isolated from the rest of us, who are entrepreneurial and don't need to associate with the masses. Those are the same people who pray to a Christian God, yet deny charity to the needy. Hmmm!
