WSJ:

Several tax experts said they believe Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin is required to pay federal taxes on $25,000 in reimbursements from the state of Alaska for her children's travel expenses.

The Alaska governor released her 2006 and 2007 tax returns on Friday, sparking a lively debate on tax blogs and among tax professionals over whether reimbursements and per-diem meal payments from the state should be subject to federal taxes. Since taking office in December 2006, Gov. Palin, whose state salary is $125,000 a year, received reimbursements totaling $43,500 for travel and lodging for her family in connection with state business. Of that total, $25,000 was for her children's travel and the rest was for her husband, Todd, the Washington Post reported.

So, H&R Block prepared the return. So what. Unless they reported the per diem/travel expenses to H&R Block how would they know about them? It wouldn't be part of Palin's W2. Why? Because her husband and children are not state employees and not required for state business. Further, Palin has no business taking per diem meal expenses at home because she didn't want to do her job in Juneau. Do they think we are STUPID?

From the article: "Those questions include whether Mr. Palin and the children were employees of the state of Alaska, whether they traveling for bona fide business purposes, and whether they would have been able to deduct those travel expenses on their own tax returns for business purposes.

Because the answer to at least one and possibly more of those questions is no, "The Palins should have reported the $43,000 in family travel allowances received in 2007 as income," Mr. Camp wrote in an analysis."

I guess Palin and "First Dude" consider themselves to be so special and part of the elite that they do not have to pay taxes. I don't know about you but their non-payment of taxes is not the change I want in Washington.

Imagine if the Obamas had hooked up with a violently anti-American group in league with the government of Iran.

Sure she had dodged taxes, she has affiliiiiations with groups of terrorists, and she has abused her power as Governor for self-fulfillment...but why aren't we talking about the fact that she and her parents were supporters of communists groups in Alaska wanting to seperate it from the rest of the US. Why aren't we talking about her comments at a social gathering where she made remarks that 'communism wasn't so bad'? She is a greater danger to America than any of us will ever know!

One of the reasons why I trust Right Wing Blogs is because when I do research, the statements come out as true.

The headline here doesn't match the story, and in fact since many people noticed, I will assume HP doesn't care about honesty.

The issue is whether Palin should have had to pay taxes for lodging her husband and children on business trips. She doesn't owe $25,000 back taxes.

It's a Wall Street Journal article.......take your complaints to Rupert. Ask him why his paper features dishonest articles.

BTW: If you don't like it here, there are other blogs........
