WSJ:

Several tax experts said they believe Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin is required to pay federal taxes on $25,000 in reimbursements from the state of Alaska for her children's travel expenses.

The Alaska governor released her 2006 and 2007 tax returns on Friday, sparking a lively debate on tax blogs and among tax professionals over whether reimbursements and per-diem meal payments from the state should be subject to federal taxes. Since taking office in December 2006, Gov. Palin, whose state salary is $125,000 a year, received reimbursements totaling $43,500 for travel and lodging for her family in connection with state business. Of that total, $25,000 was for her children's travel and the rest was for her husband, Todd, the Washington Post reported.

Sarah Palin's husband belonged (for many years) to a political party that espouses hatred of the US; she continues to court their support in Alaska.
Watch it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eniG9l_7its
and please pass it on
She's throwing the Ayers stuff to cover her tracks.

As I recall, Muslim terrorists have expressed support for Obama. This sort of argument is nebulous at best.

There are crazies in the extremes of both candidates' supporters. Heck, there are a lot of crazies expressing their delusions on this website! Way more than the few who have supported Palin as governor.

Hmmmm, so let's see.....

Barack Obama sat on a board with a person who was acquitted of domestic terrorism in 1980.

Sarah Palin (and her husband) is defying a standing subpoena, and probably owes wads in taxes. Her husband was part of a group that wanted to become their own country up there. And her running mate was involved in one of the largest banking scandals in US history.

But wait! Obama sat on a board with someone who committed crimes when Barack was 8 years old. OH! AND! His middle name is Hussein.

Just how dumb does the GOP think America is?

Ayers was acquitted? I don't think that he was ever prosecuted! Didn't he evade so long that people basically forgot about his crimes, which HE HAS ADMITTED. And wasn't Dohrn convicted, not acquitted? Didn't she serve jail time? Is my memory failing? Who has the facts here? Not the current spin, but the FACTS...

Ask the prosecutors what happened with the case....they messed it up. Also question if they had purposely messed it up in order to get out of a case they had no chance of winning........

Wiki says:

While on the run from police, Dohrn married another Weatherman leader, Bill Ayers, with whom she has two children. During the last years of their underground life, Dohrn and Ayers resided in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago, where they used the aliases Christine Louise Douglas and Anthony J. Lee. [14]

In the late 1970s, the Weatherman group split into two factions — the "May 19 Coalition" and the "Prairie Fire Collective" — with Dohrn and Ayers in the latter.

The Prairie Fire Collective favored coming out of hiding, with members facing the criminal charges against them, while the May 19 Coalition continued in hiding. A decisive factor in Dohrn's coming out of hiding were her concerns about her children.[9]

The couple turned themselves in to authorities in 1980. While some charges relating to their activities with the Weathermen were dropped due to prosecutorial misconduct[17] (see COINTELPRO), Dohrn pled guilty to charges of aggravated battery and bail jumping, receiving probation.[18] She later served less than a year of jail time, after refusing to testify against ex-Weatherman Susan Rosenberg in an armed robbery case.[17]

So your memory is correct, she served time - but not for any WUO actions. Only for refusing to testify against another member.

My memory may be faulty. What happened, according to quick research, is that Ayers and Dohn went into hiding in 1970 and stayed missing till 1980. They were never charged because of a technicality, that some elements of FBI investigation may have been improper. What is bizarre is not that they escaped prosecution on a technicality, but that they both admitted that they were domestic terrorists and yet managed to insert themselves back into society as so-called "respected members."

This is the point upon which Obama's judgment and belief system hinges: Why would he consider domestic terrorists as worthy of association and ask for their political support? Would John McCain ask for David Duke's support? Would the MSM think that proper and refuse to investigate, even though Duke isn't in jail now?

I want Obama to stand his ground and call McCain on his issues. Understanding, though, that America is very afraid of black men. Angry black men are even more disturbing to America's ideal imagery. As a boomer white guy, I wish more boomer white guys would realize that Obama speaks to their issues as NO repub ever will.

Everybody RUN! HomeComing Queen Palin's got a GUN.

We need an official IRS answer to this question QUICK!

I have a business trip to Florida coming up and I really need to know if I can have my company pay for my kids' expenses and not have to declare it as income.

This is important!

Screw the election, we're talking about Disney World here.

Many states have laws against police officials appearing in uniform to endorse candidates at partisan political functions. Anyone know about Florida?

Very good point and one that should be investigated. Afterall, don't Democrats pay his salary too? I know of a local fireman who was firedfor wearing a candidates T-shirt while on duty.

That uniform belongs to the citizens.

Does this mean she also owes more in tithes to her church? She might skate with the IRS, but the witch doctor is going to have a real case of the a$$ if he finds out she shorted him too.

Hey that head is misleading, HuffPost editors! Palin is pathetic enough without giving the impression that she owes $25,000 in back taxes! She clearly owes the taxes on that amount, but what she owes (theoretically) is far less than the headline screams. Don't give them ammunition that we're distorting the truth, please.

Fix that headline. $25,000 is not the tax amount the Governor owes. It's the income on which she should pay tax. The actual tax amount would be something like a quarter of that.

I was wondering what happened to those per diems. My husband has to report his and he couldn't figure out why hers were absent. Alaskans really need to think "recall" or "impeachment." Palin's a disgrace.
