I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Facty

Here's an enjoyable piece of video of Fox News' William La Jeunesse attempting to speak extemporaneously about facts and fact checking and who fact checks the factcheckers for their factcheckiness. This was probably a big mistake, as what ensued was a festival of malapropism and double-negative misorienteering, culminating in a statement that many people might find to be a fitting corporate motto for Fox News.

[WATCH.]

LA JEUNESSE: Tonight as those candidates debate, an army of internet fact checkers will be trying to separate fact from fiction, acting as judge and jury as to which candidate is telling the truth or a tall tale. While most of these sites are non-partisan, timely and useful, like Factcheck.org and Politifact, remember, they are uh...well, their facts are -- no one is checking the fact checkers. And their facts...unlike science...the facts are not irrefutable. And now to Washington.

FoxNews is great, you people are just jealous because there's no money in liberal news. Don't you know it wouldn't be as profitable is they had to employ a bunch of 'fact-checkers'? It's the best news that a capitalist country can buy!

Todd Palin watches it and it shapes his world. Hear Todd's opinions and insights at www.dearfirstdude.blogspot.com

By the way -- about "acting as judge and jury" -- that's only wrong when you're doing it to citizens. American citizens are guaranteed the right to trial by jury. The judge is supposed to instruct the jury as to the law. But the judge is not allowed to overrule the jury or act in the jury's place.

The Bill of Rights covers people, not text. It's okay to act as the "judge and jury" for an assertion of fact. It's perfectly constitutional.

This guy seems to be a bit thick. I don't think he gets it. Oh gee. Where is this country headed? This is not the conservatism I grew up with. God bless the cheese-eating elite.

Calling Obama "that one" has done it for me for ever having any kind of desire to ever hear one more word from McCain...the man is just so angry and nasty...can't he just control himself for five minutes?

Showing Obama a complete lack of respect is not excusable and is reprehensible...he can disagree with him intelligently and logically, but to show him blatant disregard, as he did in first debate, is a sign of how desperate he has become...the downward spiral continues...

"PLOP!"

That word . . . fact . . . I do not think it means what you think it means.

LOL! TERRIFIC!

It all depends on what the word "means" means.

I'm confused. Is Fox checking the fact checkers that check their facts?

Right after they finish selling seashells down by the seashore, and picking pickled peppers with Peter Piper.

The one fact about Fox is that Facts are mutable.
Up is down, day is night, white is black.

You have deleted three of my posts. None of them were abusive or contained bad language. What is up, HP?

The spin guys are out of control... I hope that people see the clear choice in this election. Recognize the importance of voting, watch this film, and get to the polls:

I guess La Jeunesse figures that every organization goes about *fact checking* the same way Fox does.
