McCain touts the economic prowess of, and suggests as a future Treasury Secretary Meg Whitman, the former CEO of eBay and someone who he has turned to for economic advice in the past. Normally, this is a solid point for McCain to press, highlighting entrepreneurship and the growth of female business leaders. The problem: eBay just announced that it was firing 10 percent of its work force.

When BHO was answering a question, McC entered the shot's background and seemed to make a hand gesture in his wife's and Sen. Lindsey Graham's direction, then he returned to his chair.

Did anyone else catch that?

I think Michelle caught it, as the camera angle had her suddenly turn her head to the left in the direction McC had gestured.

What was that all about? Hand signals? Is this sideline coaching?

"Fundamentals of the economy are strong" = Market Crash

Treasury Secretary Meg Whitman = troubled company

Carly F = golden parachute that he knows nothing about

what a tool

McCain actually said with pride that 1.3 million Americans now make a living from eBay. It's an economic success when 0.75% of our working population is selling it's junk to anyone who will buy it? Yes, it fills a social need but it's not exactly up there with the Industrial Revolution.

I'm a former eBay powerseller (I got disgusted with what they were doing to sellers and buyers alike, and just stopped selling there) and I know more about that company than probably 95% or 99% of the American public, and I can tell you, if Meg Whitman got a chance to do to the Treasury Department what she did with ebay, it would become even more bloated and bureaucratic and would be far more of an outright mess than it currently is. She'd make almost as much of a disaster of it as McCain's first choice, Phil Graham.

Fortunately, there's going to be a Democratic administration, so its a moot point.

Did anyone else see McCain refuse to shake Obama's hand after the debate ended? Cindy McCain shook his hand, because it was just hanging there, waiting, MY FRIEND.

McCain is out of touch with America, if he gets in the white house it will be such a shame.

If he gets elected it will be all about wars. This is all McCain knows. The entire world will be a more dangerous place if McCain is elected POTUS. His supporters are seriously out of touch.

Yep. I was wondering about that. Was that the best person he could select to manage our money? Surely he must be kidding us! And by the way, he shouldn't even mention Carly since she's a complete idiot and walked away with a boatload of money. The man just doesn't get it...

Brokaw gave him an opportunity to answer honestly several times during the debate, and he did not. His first choice is really an economist who is a moral monster like Phil Gramm, who is one of the primaries behind our current economic meltdown. McCain also didn't mention that he wants to cut social security benefits, and cut severely or eventually do away with medicaid and medicare. He obviously doesn't think people deserve decent medical care. It costs our country far more to treat millions of people who are chronically ill and in late stages of their disease than it does to test them early and provide adequate health, nutrition and exercise counseling.

Mental health parity has been mentioned briefly during the campaign as part of Obama's health plan. I can tell you that California supposedly has mental health parity with private insurance policies, but even when the patients have medically-established illnesses which are anatomically caused, the insurers delay and delay and delay and when one has a provider, the provider is inundated with forms every 3 months, whether the provider does medicine prescription or talk therapy. The result: a lot of people who have developed chronic, life threatening illnesses or even died as a result of taking dangerous medicines or a cocktail of medicines.

This is the biggest news from this town hall. Otherwise, they are repeating every single thing they said at the first debate. Neither is responding to the questions that are asked, just saying the same phrases over and over.

These debates do nothing to illuminate. They get no where near enough time to delve beyond their talking points.

It is a dog and pony show.

It is our duty to do our research in order to understand their specific policy positions.
