In the latest instance of inflammatory outbursts at McCain-Palin rallies, a crowd member screamed "treason!" during an event on Tuesday after Sarah Palin accused Barack Obama of criticizing U.S. troops.

"[Obama] said, too, that our troops in Afghanistan are 'air raiding villages and killing civilians,'" Palin said, mischaracterizing a 2007 remark by Obama. "I hope Americans know that is not what our brave men and women in uniform are doing in Afghanistan. The U.S. military is fighting terrorism and protecting us and protecting our freedom."

Shortly afterward, a male member of the crowd in Jacksonville, Florida, yelled "treason!" loudly enough to be picked up by television microphones.

Here's the video:

At a McCain rally on Monday, television stations caught audio of a crowd member calling Obama a "terrorist," while Dana Milbank reported that "[o]ne Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, 'Sit down, boy.'" Also on Monday, at a Palin rally, one member of the audience yelled, "Kill him!"

During Tuesday's event, Palin continued her frontal assault on Obama's character by noting Bill Ayers after repeating a debunked lie about the Illinois Democrat's tax record that even McCain himself has stopped using.

Referencing an explanation put forward by David Axelrod on Monday -- that Obama was not aware of Ayers's past when they first met in Chicago -- Palin mocked Obama's foreign policy knowledge, saying: "And since he got called up on his plans to meet unconditionally with terror state leaders like [Iranian President] Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, will now claim that he was unaware of his radical background?"

Palin's political shot was effective with the Republican faithful, drawing a deep, collective "ooooh." As substance, it was less than edifying. Obama has repeatedly made clear that, of course, he finds Ahmadinejad's views to be "hateful and anti-Semitic," most recently on the occasion of the Iranian President's visit to the UN.

Later, in the tax policy section of her speech, Palin managed to repeat a thoroughly debunked claim about Obama's voting record that even McCain himself has stopped using.

"He voted 94 times for higher taxes. Even on middle class -- hard working everyday families across this great nation -- making $42,000 a year," she said.

As FactCheck.org noted in August, McCain's campaign originally claimed Obama voted to raise taxes on families making $32,000 a year, but have since changed their tax ads to say that Obama's vote would impact individuals making $42,000 per year -- not families as Palin repeated today. Still, FactCheck called the new McCain ad script "better, but still deceptive" -- a standard that Palin failed to meet this morning.

Questioning the American Bolshevik views
1. Is wealth redistribution taking money from stockholders and redistributing it to those who don’t pay taxes?
2. Is it more important to make sure that illegal votes are not disenfranchised or making sure that groups like ACORN do not nullify honest votes.
3. Would premature U.S. withdrawal from Iraq grand jihadists a victory and make all of our accomplishments, money spent and lives lost a big waist?
4. Can this country afford to grant socialist Democrats total control of the government and allow them to sacrifice our safety by cutting the military budget by 25%?
Now comes the big question. How do we stop socialism from ruining our lives?
The answer is simple. Don’t vote American Bolsheviks into power and boycott the socialist propaganda media into bankruptcy.

I’ve been watching with fascination as the conversation in this campaign becomes increasingly shrill. Now, I dispair that it has reached a fevered and hyperbolic hysteria.

We are showing the world the worst of ourselves.

In the online community, I worry about the people who scream in capital letters at anyone who disagrees with them. I worry about those who instead of thoughtfully disagreeing, sink to the same level of demeaning, hateful rhetoric.

This is my plea to everyone posting online comments, to everyone shouting out at rallies, to everyone who is letting their children hear a parent’s hatred overshadow thoughtful, careful decision making.

Please. Stand quietly for one minute. And remember.

Remember who we are and how we are. How brave and kind and caring and great we are as a nation. Let’s remember the searing images from a great depression, from 9-11, from Katrina, from any time or place when one human being reached out or rushed forward to help another.

Let’s vote for whomever we, individually, trust or believe the most. Let’s not tear ourselves or our nation apart in the process.

Hey guys,

I don't really expect anyone here to do this. But take a listen, get 'treason' out of your mind.

It is quite clear that the 'shouter' is a heckler, and he says 'freezing'.

Palin is going on about 'what are young men and women are doing in Afghanistan'

And the heckler shouts 'freezing'.

Get it!

Take an honest listen and see if I am wrong.

Anything violent happens Palin and McCain should be held accountable and prosecuted to the fullest. They are purposely insiting violence. These two are despicable. What happened to all of her so called religious beliefs?

I like how all you people say republicans are now racist bigots for stating facts. Obama is running for another 4 years of the failed Carter policy. You cannot stand that Palin actually has something called values. Yes values, something that has never been seen before in a politician, specially not a democratic politician. McCain and Palin are by far the best option. I dont see why you are willing to vote for someone that got his position on a technicality. Obama is just another corrupt politician form Chicago, the most corrupt city in this country.

Although I believe everyone is entitled to his opinion, I respectfully submit that the values that I would teach to my children do not include inciting hatred at lynch style rallies. The great thing about our country is that we all have an equal opportunity to voice our opinions and we also have the opportunity to run for office if we feel we see an injustice that we feel should be righted. Ms. Palin has over-stepped that and used public office for the purpose of her own personal agenda, not for the good of the common people but merely for the good of Sarah.

Inciting violence? Value. I think not.

A womam with a newborn baby with speical needs (in addition to bondig with mom) galloping around the country. Vaule? I think not.

I know your argument that a "woman can have it all"...she can, but timing is everythin!

NO VALUES, NICE HOUSE ....NO BODY IS HOME

I sure hope the Secret Service jumped on finding the guy who shouted "kill him!" - find out who he's associated with, etc.

If an attempt or success happens on Sen. Obama's life now or if elected president, we'll see race riots like never before.

Perhaps Gov. Palin didn't hear the guy's words - being all wrapped up in what to say next - HOWEVER the silence from the McCain-Palin camp is beyond disturbing. If they really believed in putting this country first, they would STOMP DOWN ON THIS IMMEDIATELY.

But then, it would cost them more votes, uh?

The sheriff who introduced Palin at the Florida rally and intentionally made a point of inciting racial/ethnic hatred by emphasizing Barack's middle name - Hussein - is named Mike Scott. Let's send Mike Scott a few "love" notes letting him know how we feel about this practice. His email address is: sheriff@sheriffleefl.org.

Why is the Republican campaign promoting murder for anyone who does not agree with their views? Who are these people?
09:33 AM on 10/08/2008
Palin/MeCain are in the final desperate days of a failing ticket in a failing party. In last night's debate McCain looked childish and scared (unless you are a Fox News viewer...fair and balanced).
09:09 AM on 10/08/2008
What is her problem. She sounds like a dictator. This isnt the way to campaign. She read one newspaper and saying things that was already discused months ago. Who is she to sit here and continue to mention Rev Wright..and Bill Ayers. In that case you need to connect McCain to those corrupted individuals in Washington. But as usual the Republicans will say McCain was the one to step out and speak against it. He is a liar..and i do believe he is a racist. Just watch the way he speaks..and not look at Obama..or even how he shakes Obama's hand.

Palin *IS* the new face of fascism in this country, she's nothing but a Randall Flagg in drag---she doesn't care what she incites or what lies she tells as long as they serve her. She should be indicted for treason.

I'm starting to fear for Obama's life should he win, The media should take the Palin mcCain Campaign to task over this, if something happens to him the fingers should point in their direction
