In the latest instance of inflammatory outbursts at McCain-Palin rallies, a crowd member screamed "treason!" during an event on Tuesday after Sarah Palin accused Barack Obama of criticizing U.S. troops.

"[Obama] said, too, that our troops in Afghanistan are 'air raiding villages and killing civilians,'" Palin said, mischaracterizing a 2007 remark by Obama. "I hope Americans know that is not what our brave men and women in uniform are doing in Afghanistan. The U.S. military is fighting terrorism and protecting us and protecting our freedom."

Shortly afterward, a male member of the crowd in Jacksonville, Florida, yelled "treason!" loudly enough to be picked up by television microphones.

Here's the video:

At a McCain rally on Monday, television stations caught audio of a crowd member calling Obama a "terrorist," while Dana Milbank reported that "[o]ne Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, 'Sit down, boy.'" Also on Monday, at a Palin rally, one member of the audience yelled, "Kill him!"

During Tuesday's event, Palin continued her frontal assault on Obama's character by noting Bill Ayers after repeating a debunked lie about the Illinois Democrat's tax record that even McCain himself has stopped using.

Referencing an explanation put forward by David Axelrod on Monday -- that Obama was not aware of Ayers's past when they first met in Chicago -- Palin mocked Obama's foreign policy knowledge, saying: "And since he got called up on his plans to meet unconditionally with terror state leaders like [Iranian President] Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, will now claim that he was unaware of his radical background?"

Palin's political shot was effective with the Republican faithful, drawing a deep, collective "ooooh." As substance, it was less than edifying. Obama has repeatedly made clear that, of course, he finds Ahmadinejad's views to be "hateful and anti-Semitic," most recently on the occasion of the Iranian President's visit to the UN.

Later, in the tax policy section of her speech, Palin managed to repeat a thoroughly debunked claim about Obama's voting record that even McCain himself has stopped using.

"He voted 94 times for higher taxes. Even on middle class -- hard working everyday families across this great nation -- making $42,000 a year," she said.

As FactCheck.org noted in August, McCain's campaign originally claimed Obama voted to raise taxes on families making $32,000 a year, but have since changed their tax ads to say that Obama's vote would impact individuals making $42,000 per year -- not families as Palin repeated today. Still, FactCheck called the new McCain ad script "better, but still deceptive" -- a standard that Palin failed to meet this morning.

Check your history. Our government had fired on it's citizens in the past. After World War One General MacArthur's troops fired on United States veterans when they had marched on Washington, asking for their bonuses promised. The Vetsbuilt shanty communities waiting for their money. The president ordered MacArthur to destroy the shanties and drive the vets out of DC. Yes they might fire on the people. AMAXING ISN'T IT !!!!

Shouldn't the FBI be investigating the incitement of political assassination in a large crowd?

The Season of the Witch needs to end.

In North Carolina, the ballots have been made to be more confusing.
One box check for all Democratic candidates and a separate box for president.
A new confusing ballot, ala Florida 2000.

I know 'dirty politics' typically increase near the end of elections, however, I feel this could get out of hand. Sara and John, along with whomever is giving them counsel, ought to be VERY careful. I believe someone could get hurt and that would be horrible. Do they not see this? or Do they not care?.
I have republican friends that are voting for Obama because of Palin's stupidity and because they feel, as I do, that both Palin and Mc Cain could be dangerous if in the Whitehouse. Shame on both of them for carrying it this far. They are encouraging bigotry and in the process encouraging violence.

Those people shouting treason should have done that when we attacked a nation who didn't attack us, when the Bush/Cheney cronies ousted CIA agent Valerie Plame, robbed the treasury, got us completely into debt, "lost" 9 Billion in Iraq, didn't keep our country save, didn't keep our soldiers save, sent over 4000 of our children to their death in an illegal occupation. Where were they and what in the world are they thinking NOW??????

"that one"

classic

McCain just buried himself, along with his barracuda and all the bigots that they've been pandering to lately.
It was unbelievable to watch, and let it register that this old white man made an obvious attempt to objectify a african american man on national/international television. Good grief, this man's lost it.

Sarah Palin is cut from the same cloth as Limbaugh and Coulter. She's right wing hate radio on the campaign stump. She may not win the election, but she's not going away. She's auditioning for a spot at FOX News. Mark my word.

By the way, President Obama will need to reinstate The Fairness Doctrine. It also wouldn't hurt to make hate talk an act of treason. That would be a big step in uniting the country.

It is frightening how Palin's hatred comes to the surface and that there are actually a few crowds ready to buy her toxic snake oil.
Sarah is laughable until you see how ignorance and distortion of facts can enable her to create a mob mentality.

This campaign the Republicans are running is degenerating badly. They need to take stock and recognize the hostility & threat potential being drawn from the crowd by Sarah Palin. She hasn't demonstrated good judgement so far, or comprehension of the danger this presents. A stage presence & ability to memorize scripts makes you qualified as a actor, not a competent representive for the American people. Not to recognize the threats her kind of retoric is generating, is something that needs to be addressed by the Secret Service (& maybe it is), and the Republican Party. In any event, it has to stop.

CNN reported that the Secret Service is looking into the death threat. Strangely, the McCain Campaign didn't inform them of the threat.

Any candidate who encourages such open hostility toward an opponent on the level displayed at the Palin rally should be held personally accountable IF an attempt to harm that opponent is made. In this day and age, there should be zero tolerance for such language coming from a VP candidate and the media needs to come down real hard on her, and John McCain as well, for that.
