Political Wire:

Tonight's debate wasn't even close. Sen. Barack Obama ran away with it -- particularly when speaking about the economy and health care. Talking about his mother's death from cancer was very powerful. On nearly every issue, Obama was more substantive, showed more compassion and was more presidential.

In contrast, Sen. John McCain was extremely erratic. Sometimes he was too aggressive (referring to Obama as "that one.") Other times, he just couldn't answer the question (on how he would ask Americans to sacrifice.) And his random attempts at jokes (hair transplants?) were just bad.

Rachel Maddow says it very nicely "John McCain doesn't want to talk about his health care plan up against Barack Obama's at this point" ... watch the clip http://www.debatetherace08.com/news.php?item.158.1

So glad to see the true leader, Barak Obama being with the people after the debate. He seemed engaged when McC was speaking.
However I am most disturbed by the level of nasty rhetoric presently the style of JohnMc/SarahP.

Perhaps we should consider NEVER googling them or reading any articles about them and boycott their news points as that will register. We already know that they will not say anything that is important.

Please we need true leaders, Obama Biden it is too

I wouldn't go so far to say Obama ran away with debate...no one has scored it as such...

But Mack clearly seemed irritated and crabby and probably sealed his inevitable defeat.

At first I thought McCain would control his rude mouth ,but he lived up to his personality of being known as a RUDE ,hate filled person,I don't say Man,because he doesn't even deserve that title ,he acted like a spoiled CHILDISH brat when he used the phrase "THAT ONE " Yea ,Old John showed his TRUE 'colors' tonight.I'm white and he made me feel shame for him being a USA Senator and that he and his running mate are acting like they are and have been for the past week. A BIGOTED ,RACIST remark for sure.

Mr. Obama met the requirements of the office he seeks. McCain had issues and it is hard to hear his message above the hate that went before this debate. I listened but I kept hearing, “kill him”, “traitor”, and “terrorist”. Then I would look at Obama and shake my head at McCain for I knew he thought not much of me or any citizen to go so far as to label a fellow citizen in good standing as he has done, with the expectation of credibility. McCain has become hollow man or The Hollow Man Wrapped in Hypocrisy. He comes off as a snake oil salesman, a circus ringleader, or a shyster hanging out at the edge of the alleyway that calls you over with a whispered and oily:

“Psst, hey buddy over here. My friend, have I got a deal for you.”

He is selling knock-off leadership, not the real thing.

Reminds me of when Richard Pryor first met God. He was walking down the street eating a tuna fish sandwich and he heard the voice of God from down a dark alleyway. But Richard said he did not venture down that alley for that may not have been the voice of God, but four or five muggers with a baseball bat.

"that one"

classic

McCain just buried himself, along with his barracuda and all the bigots that they've been pandering to lately.
It was unbelievable to watch, and let it register that this old white man made an obvious attempt to objectify a african american man on national/international television. Good grief, this man's lost it.

I like how you portrayed this...the comment was stunningly inappropiate and rude.
He could have framed his disagreements with Obama as follows: Barack, I find your ideas interesting, but I feel I have a solution that will work better for the country...here's how...polite, respectful and succinct...

Definitely Obama won on substance and clarity. But his demeanor was also calm, collected and strong. Presidential. Whereas McCain seemed elderly, erratic, a bit doddering. Put McCain with his age and health issues, and Palin with her crackpot views and lack of substance alongside Obama and Biden (who could fill presidential shoes with ease) and there's just no contest.

The issue that stuck out the most concerning T0m was when McSame said 0ba-ma had voted 94 time to increase taxes and T0m wouldn't let 0ba-ma respond to it.

Roger Simon (on Hardball) started to say something about the McCain camp sending out an email - after the "THAT ONE" comment -
Chris Matthews interrupted him - does anyone know what the McCain camp said in reaction to it ?

Brokaw was a joke.

If you needed a couple of minutes to flesh out an issue.................than talk about it.

We need to talk more than 90 seconds about what were dealing with.

Who cares if a couple of Internet questions arent addressed.

Brokaw = Tool.

Tool = Problem
