Biden

While the presidential campaign has taken a decidedly personal and vicious tilt these past few days, one individual who has generally been left out of the fray has been Sen. Joe Biden. That's because the Delaware Democrat has been off the trail bereaving the loss of his mother-in-law to a heart attack.

As such an informal detente has been in place when it comes to attacking him. But on Tuesday, Sarah Palin broke the truce.

Speaking to a rabid crowd in Florida, the Alaska Governor was set to focus her ire primarily on Barack Obama. And, for the most part, she did, arguing that he was associated with domestic terrorists, tied to the heads of evil Fannie Mae and dangerously committed to hosting summits of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Then, however, she let loose. "Will [Obama] now claim that his ticket doesn't define higher taxes as patriotic? Remember that's what Joe Biden had said. Will he claim that he has just learned now that tax increases on small businesses kill jobs?"

Certainly the Biden dig was much softer than those aimed at the head of the ticket. But with the Senator having been off the trail for the past several days, Palin surely was aware of the elements behind his absence. Whether she slipped up or this was deliberate is another matter.

While the presidential campaign has taken a decidedly personal and vicious tilt these past few days, one individual who has generally been left out of the fray has been Sen. Joe Biden. That's because ...

I can't believe I wrote "greaving" LOL.

This is nonsense. I despise Palin, but I don't see anything wrong with this particular comment about Biden.

She did not engage in a personal attack on him -- she criticized him on a purely political issue. Just because Biden is greaving doesn't mean the campaign is suspended or that the Republicans have to stop criticizing Biden on his politics and record.

There's plenty of Republican smears and tactics in this campaign to criticize. This is not one of them.

It's not so much her comment, it's her lack of empathy. Before giving him a dig she could have shown some compassion and acknowledge his loss and offer sympathy. It's the heartlessness that's disarming, just like she did in the debate after Biden choked up remembering the loss of his first wife and his child hanging on to life.

Palin is becoming irrelevant at this point. Even McCain himself does not seem to hang around her much, but seems to prefer the company of Lieberman and Giuliani instead. She gave him bad advice to take the gloves off when solid anwers were required on the economy, not attacks about projectors and similar nonsense. Obviously she still does not know him ("What do you expect after 5 weeks?"), and actually contradicts him on several issues in her campaign speeches.

true. she's fading into obscurity for all but the rapture republicans. Is this the beginning of an intelligent America? i hope so, but it's a little early to tell.

BTW, let's continue the Florida boycott until those people join the 21st century.

What boycott? Before you start saying silly things you really should check your facts. Florida is more purple then red. Don't forget that Bush was ahead by 536 votes when the SCOTUS called the election. Lee County is the most conservative in the state. But Broward, Miami-Dade, Duval certainly are as blue as anyone could ask for.

I'm tired of people slamming Florida. I hearby declare it statist.

I hate Palin, but this is really grasping at straws here. I realize there's demand for "new" stories and everything, and I don't have an answer for that, but this isn't worth the internet packets to distribute.

IMO the case against Palin can be summed up like this...
She is unfit to be the president so is therefor unfit to be the vice president.
Why she unfit to be the president...
- Does not think on here toes. Simple questions like "what do you read" are either grossly misinterpreted ("Alaska is a microcosm of America") or go unanswered ("Couric was annoying").
- Has very little experience (no, being governor of a state with a population equal to a quarter-percent of the US doesn't give you enough "actual responsibility" experience to be president)
- Has demonstrated questionable ethics while in office (unfortunately for us, this is the primary attack against Obama)
- Holds extremist religious views (specifically regarding abortion)

Being a Christian isn't about what you say about yourself, it's about how you behave. On that one measure, Sarah Palin fails, and she fails miserably.

Where, in Florida, is Sarah speaking? I would think that she could incite "rabid crowds" on the Rednick Riviera or Miami. Given the crowd comments in recent days, Florida may be a state to avoid.

It is starting to look like the McCain Palin campain is going to sink to an even lower level the further bad they show in the polls. Palin is a joke and mabe John picked her so he would have a scape goat for loosing the election.

Since repubs appear to be congenitally incapable of accepting responsibility for their malfeasance, greed, ignorance and crimes you are probably correct.

Palin is certainly not helping McCain at this point. Having chosen her undermines the credibility of McCain as a patriot who makes solid decisions in the interest of national security. The recent racist incident does not help much, either.

The best thing we can do for Sarah Palin, is stop wasting our time commenting on her. She craves the attention and feeds off of it. If people stop talking about her and feeding her enormous ego, I think she will return form whence she came. McCain is only using her to keep her base fired up. She is not reaching independents with her message of hate.

Sarah Palin is just making a fool out of herself. For all of her Christian talk, she sure isn't acting like one. I am disgusted by her.

I, too am ashamed of her. As a Christian myself, I am dumfounded that she would spew such LIEs and hatred, even when her LIES have been debunked by researches and the media, she kept repeating them over and over without batting an eye....this woman surely can LIE. I don't get it.
its as if she has no conscience to say "hey, Sarah, that's not right."
Its people like her that give true Christianity a bad name. I am so disappointed in her
behavior on the campaign trail. Shame on her.

This was the time when Sarah Palin should have taken a moment to give her condolences to the Biden family as they grieved the loss of his mother in-law. Instead she went into her talking points tirade bringing to the surface of deranged nut jobs, hate that had been bubbling to the surface.

The Mc Cain Palin team has sucessfully drawn together all of the insane people in the Nation.
If you watch them respond to the negative rhetoric they are spoon fed, there is a demonic expression that takes over their faces as they taunt whatever poor soul who is being expressed in a negative light.

It is truely frightning, the lack of restraint they display at these rallies.

DearCare4my peeps;

In their dishonest, ruthless hatred inspiring rabble rousing, McCain and Palin are breaking the law. They are inciting hate crimes. They are, without conscience, endangering Sen.Obama, Sen. Biden and their families. Yes, this is very frightening. Where is our Department of Justice when we need them most?

Oops, I forgot. Bush/Cheney fired all the DOJ guys and gals who have souls and replaced them with Bush/Cheney/Rove clones.

She has no chance. Imagine the Republican male candidates debating with Palin. She wouldn't last 5 minutes with them on the stage. Biden was a gentleman, but I don't think the Republicans would let her get away with her doing what she's done in the debate if she was running against them.

Sarah Palin, just go home. Go home to moose country, to your PTA, to your church. Start planning your daughter's wedding. Rejoin your inner sanctum of girlfriends and rejoice in the prospect of becoming a grandmother. Because you really are out of your league where you're at right now. You don't have the experience, you don't have the knowledge, and you don't have the kahoonas.

We used to call her tactic "inciting a riot," something domestic terrorists are familiar with. Is Palin a domestic terrorist?
