Biden

While the presidential campaign has taken a decidedly personal and vicious tilt these past few days, one individual who has generally been left out of the fray has been Sen. Joe Biden. That's because the Delaware Democrat has been off the trail bereaving the loss of his mother-in-law to a heart attack.

As such an informal detente has been in place when it comes to attacking him. But on Tuesday, Sarah Palin broke the truce.

Speaking to a rabid crowd in Florida, the Alaska Governor was set to focus her ire primarily on Barack Obama. And, for the most part, she did, arguing that he was associated with domestic terrorists, tied to the heads of evil Fannie Mae and dangerously committed to hosting summits of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Then, however, she let loose. "Will [Obama] now claim that his ticket doesn't define higher taxes as patriotic? Remember that's what Joe Biden had said. Will he claim that he has just learned now that tax increases on small businesses kill jobs?"

Certainly the Biden dig was much softer than those aimed at the head of the ticket. But with the Senator having been off the trail for the past several days, Palin surely was aware of the elements behind his absence. Whether she slipped up or this was deliberate is another matter.

While the presidential campaign has taken a decidedly personal and vicious tilt these past few days, one individual who has generally been left out of the fray has been Sen. Joe Biden. That's because ...

And this woman is a Christian? Shame on you - you mental midget. Go back to Alaska and please - for all of our sakes - stay there. What a hypocrite.

Not only does she lack class, she wears the deficiency as a badge of honor!

When she talks about "Joe Sixpack", is she implying that the Americans she is courting are a bunch of drunks who have such dreary, Wall Street and Washington wearying lives that they must frequently drown their woes in cheap beer?

She is the Boss Hogg of Alaska.

The winning ticket will encompass all of America, from the first state of admission to the last state of admission.

Palin is not a woman our daughters and granddaughter should model after. She is appallingly untrained in common decency. I don't think she knows much of anything and that is why she is in controlled situations with her scripts all prepared by the Attack Department of the McCain campaign. He is now looking like a thug to me and she his gun toting female sidekick. The American people, including Joe Six Pack - whoever these men may be, are smarter that to fall under the spell of this ugly behavior. I don't think the soccer Mom's are this stupid either. She and McCain under-estimated us.

Palin probably thinks etiquette (not to mention ethics) is elitist. Either that, or them high-falootin' words weren't on no spellin' list back up 'er in Wasilla... Either way, my sympathies to the Bidens.

Do you remember that phrase in elementary school?:

I'm rubber and you're glue; whatever you say bounces off of me and sticks to you.

I never really believed it until now. I am amazed and impressed at the way Obama was in the debate tonight. And it just seemed like all of McCain's attacks, jabs, and sarcasm backfired.

Did anyone else notice the microphone toss that McCain would do at the end of almost all of his comments? Just plain weird.

I know what you mean about the microphone. I kept wondering why McCain was doing that. Do you think it was to look cool, or maybe to let off some of that steam coming out of his ears?! He can be read like a book, not a very helpful trait in politics.

It's classic. When they have a real problems, they always go on the offensive
with some distraction that might draw attention away from the real 800 pound gorillas in the room.
Case in point: Palin tries to stretch Obama brushing shoulders with a person who had links
to the Black Panthers during the stone age when Obama was practically in diapers while her
own husband just recently belonged to a white supremacist group that pushed for the succession of
Alaska from the union. I ask you, which sounds more like true treason? And, of course, we know about her
own witch doctor problems, so it's rich for her to talk about any reverend problems. People in glass houses . . .

Please see Tom Freidman's column in NY Times. Stop and think people! It IS patriotic to pay your taxes, how else do we fight wars (no matter how senseless) pay police and firefighters, build schools, subsidize state universities, build roads and replace bridges that may not have fallen down if we'd bothered to invest in our infrastructure (pay taxes). Can't think of much that is MORE patriotic than paying your taxes. So quibble over how MUCH tax, but taxes are necessary or there will BE NO BAILOUT FOR ANYONE RICH OR POOR OR MIDDLE CLASS.

Ok, let' talk substance. Sarah Palin didn't critisize Biden, she was quoting him. Biden did say (on TV)that paying taxes is patriotic. So what's the fuss about?

Its that a family member of his died. It usually political etiquette (Even Rovian politics) to not attack somebody in this situation. It simply makes anybody look like a Grade A Bastard.

It's a typical misquote, that's what ...

It works on people who don't pay attention to the news/debates and just get their 'talking points' from 'talking points' ...

Are you one of those?

Biden said that as part of a longer statement ...... and it makes sense to anybody who is following what the candidates actually say, rather than throught the Palin filter.

How about he's not on the campaign trail to defend himself because is in the process of burying his mother-in-law? But, then we're talking about a woman who hasn't a clue about motherhood, aren't we?

Biden simply said that the rich need to ante up to get us through these times of peril. While admittedly the implication was there, Biden never said specifically that taxes were 'patriotic'.

Apparently, Palin's were not into being patriotic.. and paying taxes.

Biden said it was patriotic to pay taxes. Palin twisted it by misquoting him as saying it is patriotic to pay HIGHER taxes. This lady is scary. She actually believes her own lies. There was an article in the Huffpost today by Frank Schaeffer that sheds light on why she lies. It has to do with her "faith" & "church". You should really read it if you haven't - very scary & strange. It was posted 10/06 entitled "Why Is Palin Such a Good Liar For God? Everyone should read it. It goes back to her church. Definitely don't need a VP like this!

Damn right it is patriotic to pay our fair share of taxes! Maybe you can put out your own fires, pave your own roads, clear your own snow, police your streets and homes and a myriad of other things our tax money pays for, so I guess you're not very patriotic since you didn't pay your taxes! Also, the majority of Fortune 500 companies pay NO taxes since they keep their money in the Cayman's, so your heroes, the Richie Rich's of the world are not patriotic, either. What a loser you are and you pretend to be a Christian (or something).

Did you see the Daily Show and their coverage of Wasilla during the VP debates? Now you know why Palin is such a disgrace. She is a reflection of the idiots that she grew up with. Alaska makes Alabama look like New York city.

The kind of ignorant and racist viewpoint of so many Alaskans and their apparent pride in being the dull knives in the drawer is exemplified in their selection of Palin as their Governor.

Alaskans want to secede from the Union? Great....where do I contribute?

With them gone the collective IQ should double.

Just one question for the family values crowd:

Who would you rather have as a role model for your daughters? Sarah Palin or Michelle Obama. One has conducted herself with grace and dignity and intelligence through two years of campaigning, while the other has spouted more lies and vitriol in 5 weeks of campaigning than people do in a lifetime.

Is Sarah Palin really the model we want our daughters to aspire to?
