The View

On Tuesday's "The View," the ladies followed up on a conversation/argument yesterday, in which Elisabeth Hasselbeck pushed Obama's radical views. Today, with Joy back, it was Elisabeth v. the other four as she continued to bring up and slam what she feels are Obama's shady acquaintances.

Preceding the clip below, Barbara called for a move away from gutter politics towards a discussion of what really matters. Elisabeth then kept talking about Obama's connection to Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers and Tony Rezko, called Wright a "hate-monger" and asked of Obama, "Are you a liar or do you have poor judgment?"

Soon after, Sherri jumped down Elisabeth's throat (as she sat expressionless) asking about McCain's first wife with, "can we talk about poor judgement?"

The argument escalated and Joy (celebrating her birthday today) pretended to get up and leave.

Elisabeth interjected, "When did this get personal? Wow. This is super personal," and she told Sherri to "relax."

Barbara again asked to no avail, "Can we stop slinging mud around?"

Elisabeth then brought up Obama and claimed Democrats pushed subprime loans, to which Joy called out, "You're listening to Sean Hannity too much!" With that, Whoopi quickly took the show to break.

Watch, as no blow-by-blow will do it justice:

i wonder what Hasselbeck's response was to Brooks's statement that Palin "is a cancer on the republican party."

Palin has definetely hurt McCain's campaign. I was disappointed that Joy did not give her opinion about the VP debate. She never said one thing about it. I was so looking forward to hearing what she had to say.

Their campaigns in the last few days have been filled with hatred and racism....Are we back in the 1950's???
This is ridiculous...I also have a muslim name, but not muslim...from what Palin and Mccain are instigating is that I am also associated with terrorists(since my name is muslim looking).... This is bull sh#t!! I was born with my last name!!!!!! I have nothing to do with terrorism!!!! Right now, I am fearing for MY LIFE that one of the people at the Repub's campaign is going to kill me if I they know I have a muslim sounding name!!! What has this world come to???? For the 1st time in my life I now know what racism means! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HATRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and this is what Mccain/Palin are hyping thier crowds with...!!!!

That is not what we want for other nations to see America....A nation of RACISTS!! Just when you think that racism was going down, 'they' have to hype it up again....

MCCAIN/PALIN = RACISTS!!!

Bring Rosie back for a segment. She could shut the talking head up. If Walters can't shut this twit up she has lost any credentials she ever had as a tough journalist. At least drown her retoric out ladies.

The brain dead people deserve Obama's SOCIALISM/MARXISM.

Yea, I am poor and I am using substance, but my health care is my right, remember. Finally I have a share of my American pie.

I believe that we have a right to know who the political candidates associate with. But I do not believe that it is fair to just bring up Obama's assocaiations.

I believe that if McCain was asked about G. Gordon Liddy (who served time in jail and was part of Watergate and also is considered a terrorist), Charles Keating (who served time in jail) and Hagee (who has expressed disdain and non-tolerance for certain groups) he would and has denied guilty by association.

These Jim Crow politics will not stand and what is good for "that one" is good for the "other one"

I'd love to hear your analysis of what socialism or Marxism is. "Poor", "using substance," entitled... Hate minorities much?

anti-marxism never mentioned minorities. YOU just did.

BTW, we just had a bailout of $800+billion dollars. Right? So where are we now going to get this money to have a efficient (remember that word is 'efficient') National Hezalthcare System

Stop making excusses for Barack. If William Ayers lived in my neighborhood I'm sure I'd know who he was.You don't think someone would say, " hey , you know who that guy is?". I don't know about where you live ,but, in my neighborhood we talk, and I know almost all of my neighbors. For Barack to say "I was only 8 years old when Ayers commited those crimes , how could I possibly know?", rediculous!
He was'nt 8 years old when met him or became neighbors. It's at that time when Barack either should have used better judgement or backed away.

Yeah.. and why don't we ask McCain about Keating - cause there was some real good judgement! I can go on if you like?

Point is, during the course of your life you're going to run into people that aren't "clean" . Heck, Not one of us here are able to throw the first stone, I bet.

So back off.. it has nothing to do with the crisis we're in. It isn't productive and it pits us against one another in a time when we need to pull together more than ever!!!!

Do you get it? We're in a CRISIS right now! We're headed for a GLOBAL recession. That will not be pretty....that's where are heads should be right now...

When Barack Obama met Bill Ayers, Ayers was about to receive an award from the city of Chicago for all of his efforts in public education.

Perhaps you should - like Chicago - let go of the past and focus on the future. Ayers was not convicted of any crime - and if evidence is ever brought forward to do so, I am sure Obama will repeat his denunciation of those acts.

But in the mean time, can we look toward our future?

This is just the most infantile argument I have every heard. Its just a a major red herring.

He was head on that education committee - of course he HAD to deal with him. I would NOT know if my neighbour or in some cases friend/relative/work associate committed a crime 20+ years ago. Some people move on with their lives and you just wouldnt know. Thats plain stupid. God in Vienna that man kept his whole family captive for years without people knowing. Maybe in hicksville USA where you live you may consume your whole time with other peoples business - but most normal people don't. In my neighbourhood we "don't talk" - we just accept people for who they are and how they present themselves. We're not all nosey parkers intergotating people's history and life.

If the Repubs involved in this committee though he was worthy enough for the role - why then is Obama being held responsible.

How about Todd Palins MEMBERSHIP to that Alaskan anti-American group. He was a card carrying member - not just accidently associated with through circumstance.

Bush should be impeached - he is a war mongerer - sponsored a war that killed hundreds of thousands of innoent Iraqis, supported torture of POWs, and basically led the world-wide recession. McCain is associated with him - and in most cases supported him whilst doing these things. McCain cant claim he was 8 while it happened.

Ayers was Chicago Citizen Of The Year 1997. Must be one of them liberal elite types.

I'm sure you live near sex offenders too - and you have no excuse for not knowing about it and moving (there are websites to let you know where they live in relation to you).

Additionally, this is a weak argument. Obama should have walked away from working on educational boards and healthcare boards because of Ayers (who wasn't convicted of terrorism)? He doesn't pick the board.

Please look up Annenburg Foundation and learn how Ayers is connected to that and how they've funded huge amounts of McCain's campaign. What's good for the goose...

But I know you won't look it up - because you're obviously a hypocrite. McCain's connection to John Keating should be enough to make you wary of his judgement - ESPECIALLY - in this economic crisis. If that wasn't enough, his selection of Palin should have been a deal-breaker.

But I suspect that you're only hanging your hat on the Ayers thing because that's all you have and you're just looking for a reason to bash Obama.

How many people who weren't alive to remember the William Ayers attacks actually knew about this guy? I was born in the eighties and I didn't hear about him until Hillary tried to use it as a distraction during the primaries. It seems totally plausible that Barack Obama didn't know about Ayers' past. And people should stop playing the Rezko card. Last I checked criminals don't usually announce their cirminal activity and it seems plausible that he didn't know about Rez's shadiness too.

Have you noticed that when something is cleared up about Obama - Elisabeth and Hannity keep drilling the same thing? I was watching Larry King who had Bey Buchanan and Ari ? on and this other woman. Even when you correct them they just keep saying stupid stuff. I just hope Americans get out and vote. I will be glad when this is over. Elisabeth sees no wrong in McCain even after Whoopi pointed out something about Anderbergh(sp?), even after something came out about another woman attacking an abortion clinic. I wish the hateful ads and attacks could stop and each party only talk about what they are going to do the country. I wish the news media would have to speak the truth. Specifically Hannity. He is still harping on the Afghan thing when the article DOES not state that totally. Ther eis more to the article. People please read whatever is said on the news.

So how is knowing a guy 15 years ago, that did something bad 35 years ago relate to Sarah Palin charging rape victims for their rape kits.

"Barbara can't stop Elisabeth's Obama bashing?" Lordy! For week after week, Americans have been treated to excerpts (on the nightly news) to how Elisabeth Hasselhoff was the recipient of the liberal host and others.

Barbara finally reigned it in at the end of this segment, but she's a seasoned journalist ans should know MUCH better. How Whoopi ever got a gig on the show is beyond me. She should stay in comedy-or drama which is her forte. But black history and commentary on it isn't, as her passions for it get too aroused and they lack the necessary boundaries when she 'plays' political theatre..

Elisabeth Hasselhoff sure does a good job, being in the minority of some very strong women and she is deserving of support, not derision.

Barbara Walters is wrong about one thing. She said, "We are intelligent women." She should have said, "All of us except for one blonde are intelligent women." And then fired her.

Bingo!
Why do Repigs only go from A -B? Are they lacking the brain cells to carry the equation out to it's full and complete conclusion?
WHAT ABOUT sarah & todd palin's association with the Alaska Succession group? !she recorded a video greeting for this year's 2008 convention. In other words, this is not something that happened when she was eight!
AIP's creation was inspired by the rabidly violent anti-Americanism of its founding father Joe Vogler, "I'm an Alaskan, not an American," reads a favorite Vogler quote on AIP's current website, "I've got no use for America or her damned institutions." According to Vogler AIP's central purpose was to drive Alaska's secession from the United States. Alaska, says current Chairwoman Lynette Clark, "should be an independent nation."
Vogler was murdered in 1993 during an illegal sale of plastic explosives that went bad. The prior year, he had renounced his allegiance to the United States explaining that, "The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government." He cursed the stars and stripes, promising, "I won't be buried under their damned flag...when Alaska is an independent nation they can bring my bones home." Palin has never denounced Vogler or his detestable anti-Americanism.

I don't.....I am only one but I did e-mail Barbara why I don't watch and it is the shouting and screaming and hateful divisive disrespectful behavior shown...mostly by Ms. E. I can't take it anymore. I have quit watching T.V. for any type of so called news and gone to NPR.

One way to take care of this kind of behavior...more and more stop watching and ABC/Barbara will get the message big time.

It is time we as a majority come up with creative quiet ways to say Enough!

I rarely take the time to post opinions on issues like this. However, I applaud Elizabeth Hasselbecks intelligence and k nowledge, as well as her confidence in stating her opinions and standing by them. It is unfortunate that several of her coworkers take her comments so personally and are so insecure that they feel the need to attack her so frequently. I really am never impressed when public figures, such as the cohosts of The View, so quickly play thre race card when they feel that they are loosing the argument. It seems to happen on a regular basis on The View now, which is only one of the reasons I have stopped watching it. It is not my idea of a relaxing morning to watch Sherri loose her cool, her voice raise two octives, as she bounces in her seat in an unprofessional fit of anger. So, hang in there Elizabeth, there are others that agree with you and admire the job that you do as well!

The spreading of this type of mis-information in a public forum should be illegal. She is only giving out the Republican Party's bullet points for the week. This woman doesn't have any opinion NOT given to her by the right wing press - Hannity, Limbaugh,et al. One would think someone of her means would have access to a broader range of news outlets or research available. Like many of her generation, I find her intellectually lazy. Bill Ayers has received the Chicago Citizen of the Year Award and is highly regarded is the field of education. His youthful life as an anarchist is long past. Ayers has friends and supporters who are prominent in the Republican party including the head of the Annenberg Foundation. If she find this bit of history so disturbing, why not discuss something more recent. Why isn't she also talking about Sarah Palin's connection with the Alaskan Independence Party who seeks to turn Alaska into it's own oil-rich Country? Why not also discuss the "Honorable" way John McCain suspended his campaign to help handle the mortgage crisis and then ran ads in the swing states, or to return to the 70's how he left his first wife after her disfiguring car accident.
