I Like ItI Don’t Like It
The View

On Tuesday's "The View," the ladies followed up on a conversation/argument yesterday, in which Elisabeth Hasselbeck pushed Obama's radical views. Today, with Joy back, it was Elisabeth v. the other four as she continued to bring up and slam what she feels are Obama's shady acquaintances.

Preceding the clip below, Barbara called for a move away from gutter politics towards a discussion of what really matters. Elisabeth then kept talking about Obama's connection to Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers and Tony Rezko, called Wright a "hate-monger" and asked of Obama, "Are you a liar or do you have poor judgment?"

Soon after, Sherri jumped down Elisabeth's throat (as she sat expressionless) asking about McCain's first wife with, "can we talk about poor judgement?"

The argument escalated and Joy (celebrating her birthday today) pretended to get up and leave.

Elisabeth interjected, "When did this get personal? Wow. This is super personal," and she told Sherri to "relax."

Barbara again asked to no avail, "Can we stop slinging mud around?"

Elisabeth then brought up Obama and claimed Democrats pushed subprime loans, to which Joy called out, "You're listening to Sean Hannity too much!" With that, Whoopi quickly took the show to break.

Watch, as no blow-by-blow will do it justice:

Elizabeth is just a reflection of the McCain campaign. They don't get it. Our country is going down the tubes and all they can talk about is Ayers, Wright and Rezco the Realtor? Cindy McCain talking about not passing a bill to fund soldiers, that her own husband voted against? Do they think we are that stupid? My God, woman, country, all of us! Wake up! Elizabeth is not worth this message board, but I could not help but post this comment. She needs to carry her big mouth to FOX News and leave the rest of us alone! Since I would die before I watched FOX News, I could live out this life with never hearing that voice again! Ahhhh, how wonderful that would be. She is just like the McCain campaign...and as long as they keep avoiding the facts it is only going to help to put Barack Obama in the White House right where he belongs. Maybe I should end this by actually THANKING ELIZABETH.

Unfortunately there are too many non thinkers in my neighborhood, who are like LisaTN.
They still believe reagan's story that the welfare mothers are responsible for all our economic woes.
I have had intense debates with the man who delivers my heating oil, for several years running.
High oil prices are t he fault of the welfare mothers.......? ......................I know!
The MSM only gives out 1/2 the story...........
( I have stopped giving all repigs the respect of capitalizing their name, life is too short and they haven't earned it!.

I know the wish to get high ratings influences who is chosen to host or participate on shows, and the View is no different. I am tired of shows choosing the mad, hysterical, and unthoughtful to represent the right. Remember Firing Line? Thoughtful and knowledgeable liberals and conservatives appeared on the show. They conducted themselves with wit, intelligence, and civility. The View could have chosen someone intelligent to represent the right, they didn't. Instead they chose a witless, rabble rouser. The liberals on the View are much better behaved. Joy is a comedian, so is Whoopi, they are allowed some poetic license; yet they have not gone to the fringe as Elizabeth has done. I have lived in NYC. I am sure that I could be connected in someone's twisted brain to groups which could in Elizabeth's mouth attack my character. There are associations that I don't remember, but folk who wrote articles about me in Who's Who, Dictionary of Literary Biography, and other publications discovered.
I taught a workshop at the Women's House at Riker's; Joanne Chesimard was a member of the workshop. Am I forever associated with her politics and crimes?
I am a Republican LIBERTARIAN. I am offended by the View's choice of a conservative. They may have deliberately chosen someone who spouts untruths . It makes the remainder of the View appear sane and reasonable.
Elizabeth is a racist. She and I have some of the same associates. I don't want to be associated with her.

it is so insulting to all women, both democrats and republicans that sarah palin and elizabeth hasslebeck are so ignorant, stupid (how did either of them graduate from college?) pathetic and brainwashed....someone on the view needs to show elizabeth the connection of sarah palin to the Alaskan Independence Party and all of their affiliates, wow they make Bill Ayers seem like a boring old gray-haired college professor.

So it has now come down to Barbara Walters pleading with her subordinate, young Elisabeth, to PLEASE stop spewing mud and unsubstantiated tabloid trash and try to elevate her dialogue to a higher level? Barbara needs to take control of the direction of her show. Isn't this why they got rid of Rosie? How is Elisabeths behavior any different?

It's surprising how Hasselbeck does not show normal communication style respect with co-hosts who are two or three times her age such as Barbara Walters and Whoopi Goldberg. Especially a legend such as Barbara Walters who has so much experience interviewing heads of state, etc. I don't see other young women cutting off their grandmothers and speaking in such tones with or in front of them.

This election has given The View a ratings boost. After Obama moves into the White House, Elizabeth will probably get her own show on Fox/Faux. After all, she has successfully done their
bidding. (Job well done Elizabeth.........Bill Getty and Fox/Faux owe you big time).

They should just turn her microphone off or use the trap door under her seat. Either way both would be nice and sufficient.

Nah, they should let he blather on and on. She is a racist of the first order and she is so unlovely while doing it. She probably singlehandedly shows the stupidity of racism better than any other public figure.. Let her hang herself and let he show that racism is still alive and well. Why she is there is always a puzzle ot me. She represents the ditzy blond image perfectly, not because she is blond but because she is so ditzy. But underneath all of that, it is clear this woman is a racist. I find it amazing that in this modern era, people like her still exist. You have to have a short in your brain to subscribe to her racist mania.

This was typical of "The View." Yelling and not enough substance. Did anyone ask Hasselbeck to NAME these ostensible legions of Obama's shady acquaintances? How anyone could finesse the Keating Five scandal and McCain's treatment of his first wife is beyond credulity.

To her credit, 'tho, Lizzie is the lone conservative in a conversation with at least three assertive liberals. Not easy.

Be that as it may, now to the important questions:

Why was Whoopi carrying her purse?

How many inches have Baba Wawa's ears moved back from their original position on her head?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:07 PM on 10/09/2008

Of course, noobody asked Hasslbeck to NAME "those ostensible legions of Obama's shady acquaintances." Hasselbeck did, and if she hadn't, they wouldn't, because they wouldn't have known the answer.

And that would only have made their 'attack' on Elisabeth Hasselbeck look more pathetic, more ganging up on the one by the 4.

That one charcter who did attempt to segue into the Keating 5 scandal and John McCain's first marriage was beyond cruel.

NO! CRUEL, is actively smearing the one candidate who will put us back on track as well as he can with the ruin the repigs have left him.
That is CRUELTY to the entire population of the USA!

Cruel? No. Absolutely on point. Absolutely determinative of McCain's character and ethics.

Neither of the two associations Little Lizzie named are anything more than the detritus of being a politician. And they say NOTHING about Obama's character.

Little Lizzie named two meaningless associations but made it sound like Obama was the head of organized crime in the U.S.

She might be outnumbered, but she is a better sock puppet for the GOP than Palin.

Hasselbeck, along with Palin are 2 of the stupidest women in America. They are a disgrace when compared to the average American woman!

I find Hasselbeck to be racist and attempting to further promote the Republican lies which have been proven to be lies or distortions. She also does not permit any to point out McCain's bad associations such as the Keating 5, the Nazi organizations, and the Contras. She refuses to acknowledge that Palin has ties to a sessionist group. Since she is not balanced she should be told to shut up or leave becvause at this point I can't stand to watch because of her.

Like you I find Hasselbeck difficult to stomach. But I think Barbara Walter's has the right attitude. Republicans (and Democrats) have to stop slinging mud at each other. There are enormous problems that can only be solved by EVERYBODY working together. Blame and recrimination are not luxuries we can afford to indulge ourselves in.

Personally, I don't mind it at all. If it bothers you, don't watch. Women are being told to shut up all over the world. Let them yell to the rafters every day on the View if they want, even that dolt Elizabeth. At least people are passionate again, rather than just allowing the Republithugs to steal away our liberties as if we were pod people!

The Senate found Senator McCain to have used POOR JUDGMENT in the Keating 5 scandal that resulted in the failure of Lincoln National Savings and Loan. John McCain has already used POOR JUDGMENT in an economical failure . . . let us learn from history since the current economical failure touches the pocketbook of every person in the country. The use of McCain's POOR JUDGMENT is very relevant to the time we live in and becomes more and more relevant every day. McCain's friend Phil Gramm 10 years later pushed through an Act that essentially deregulated the banking, brokerage and insurance industries that brought us to the crisis we are in. From Phil Gramm on Wikipedia.org "Later in his Senate career, Gramm spearheaded efforts to pass banking deregulation laws, including the landmark Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act in 1999, which removed Depression-era laws separating banking, insurance and brokerage activities." This is the same Phil Gramm that had to step down from the McCain campaign when the Washington Times on July 9, 2008 reported that he said "We have sort of become a Nation of Whiners . . ." and talked of a ". . . mental recession . . . " NEWSFLASH We are now going into a MENTAL DEPRESSION. This was McCain's top economic advisor!

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is dangerous to the point she is the on air spokesperson for the View-master, Bill Geddie, who is no longer on air spouting his republican rhetoric so Elisabeth does it for him. She is briefed every morning with Republican talking points. If anything happens to Obama Elisabeth, Palin, McCain, Bill should all be tried for the crime of inciting violence against an elected official. Have we gone beyond the point of no return in politics? There are times I'm ashamed to admit these people are Americans. The evil vibes they send out will catch up with them. If they are all as religious as the profess to be they will stand before God on Judgment Day and will have to pay for their crimes against humanity.

I have watched the View for many years but Elisabeth is trying my patience to such a degree I am having trouble watching these days. Though I agreed with pretty much everything Rosie O'Donnell had to say, I thought it was time for her to go. Now it's time for Elisabeth to leave. She is just too annoying. It's so obvious that she is spouting off her Fox News talking points and she isn't funny or talented enough to make any of it interesting. At least the others can make us laugh at their opinions. And I'm not hearing much about her outrageous insult of Michelle Obama at the RNC luncheon for Cindy McCain. Saying Cindy McCain has nothing to hide is a joke! One writer mentioned Christy Todd Whitman as a possible conservative replacement. There's got to be someone out there with a brain or some wit who could replace Elisabeth. Please, Barbara Walters save your show!

How did this elisabeth end up on tv? She was on a reality tv show (she didn't win - she was just on the show.) She has no qualifications to be on this show and it's frustrating to see her struggle every day to keep up.
She is not particularly funny or entertaining and she's barely pleasant at all lately.
My big issue is that she breeds hate for Obama and this is dangerous. She's free to state her opinion of course but promoting hate is a serious thing - something McCain and Palin should regret but are too power hungry to do so.

This is what happens when you are the token conservative among a panel of liberals. It's unfortunate that what should be a healthy and informative discussion digresses into a mess like this because it's 4 on 1 and the 4 can't accept an opposing viewpoint. Let Hasselback leave for her own show and just rename this one "The View from the Left".
