Cindy McCain, who has largely remained soft-spoken and optimistic during public appearances on her husband's behalf, has joined the attack dogs of the McCain campaign in recent days.

Just as McCain and Sarah Palin and prominent GOP supporters like Rudy Giuliani have stepped up their negative attacks on Obama this week, Cindy McCain took "one of her most personal shots yet at Barack Obama today" during a rally in Pennsylvania.

"The day that Sen. Obama cast a vote to not to fund my son when he was serving sent a cold chill through my body let me tell you," Cindy McCain said in introducing the GOP ticket. "I would suggest Sen. Obama change shoes with me for just one day. I suggest he take a day and go watch our men and women deploying."

In general, the McCains have avoided discussing their two sons' military service during the campaign. Younger son Jimmy McCain is a Marine who has already served a tour in Iraq. His brother, Jack, is at Annapolis.

Palin later invoked her own son's service overseas in suggesting that Obama did not understand the cost of war, comparing him unfavorably to McCain and his military heroism during Vietnam.

"God bless him, he spent five and a half years as a POW, and he knows the cost of war because he paid those costs himself," she said of McCain. "And as a mother of one of those troops, yup, that's exactly the kind of man I want as commander in chief."

And yesterday, Mrs. McCain made waves and stunned political observers when she stridently claimed that Obama had waged "the dirtiest campaign in American history."

Her newfound aggressiveness is obviously sanctioned by the campaign - a McCain aide said last night that the Republican nominee "wholeheartedly agrees with his wife's assessment."

The Republican Party continues the principles of Lee Atwater's dirty tricks". Though he died in 1991 his protogees continue their success in presidential campaigns. As Atwater was fond of saying, "You can sell anything as long as you rap a flag around it." Truth is not something to pay attention to, "It's easy to get people to vote their fears". The McCain campaign continues the Atwater strategy of creating doubt by innuendo, i.e. the Obama/Ayers relationship. The target, in this case, Obama, either ignores the innuendo and risks creating doubt or wastes valuable time and resources refuting it and moving the discussion from the issues where the Republicans are faltering. Either response plays into the Republican/Atwater tactic. What McCain has failed to follow in the Atwater tactic is that the, "Top of the ticket should remain above the fray and leave the innuendos to surragates." Atwater believed that attackes by the top of the ticket to be risky and potentially backfiring.

The fact of the matter is that more and more veterans are against this "McRage and his Bimbos" charade. All you have to do is watch CSPAN (Washington Journal) in the mornings to hear 9 out of 10 veterans voice their opposition to him.

Who will be next on the stump, his 96 year old mother?

wow Cindy too bad for you karma is such a even handed c*#%.

Did you get a cold chill when your husband FLAT OUT REFUSED to support the new GI Bill?

Did you get a cold chill when your husband was voting AGAINST troops' safety equipment for Iraq and Afghanistan on 3 separate occasions?

Did you feel even a cool breeze when your husband opposed mandatory downtime for our troops instead of continuing the endless swinging door of war theater tours?

Did you feel even a slight shiver when your husband voted LOCK STEP with Bush on invading Iraq and starting a war that had NOTHING to do with 9/11?

Do you feel anything knowing that 4,181 troops have been killed and 30,702 have been injured to date in Iraq and Afghanistan?

And did you even feel when your husband talked about staying in Iraq for a hundred years, risking hundreds of thousands of more troops lives?

Since McCain is probably not going to get elected, Obama will be coming to collect the taxes due for individuals making over 250K.........and that doesn't sit well with Cindy......plus, she is going to dump McCain after the election......This bud's for you Cindy..........

Why is it so hard for people to simply go to the voting records of the candidates and see who is spinning their positions. You can find the voting records of every single membetr of congress on every troop related issue that was voted upon this year. The study is compiled by Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. No spin, just the facts compiled in a 40 Page PDF document here.

http://www.veteranreportcard.org/reportcard.pdf

I'll even refrain from revealing the predictable results of the findings for McCain and Obama and let you marvel at their respective records when compared against the Real supporters of our troops.

For Cindy McCain to call Obama's campaign the sleaziest on record is hilarious. She acts stupid and most probably is stupid.

Watching some of the videos and interviews of participants at McCain/Palin rallies scares the living daylight out of me. There are mobs of young people sound and act like the "Hitlerjugend" in the Third Reich, irrational, stupid, uninformed and good followers that can easily be manipulated.

Unfortunately, it's the issue of yet ANOTHER half truth being discussed by McCain/Palin. Yes, Obama did vote that way, but so did her husband!

We never get the full picture with McCain. Just half truths and innuendo. We have already been through eight years of that logic, and we will be paying for it for decades to come.

Any parent goes to the gut level at first when their children are involved, so you can give a parent a pass for a visceral reaction in response to hearing their children are being sent to an area of danger.

However, Cindy McCain's reaction is baffling.
