McCain Ran 1,304 Ads Day Campaign "Suspended"

Chicago Tribune:

Turns out John McCain never did quite "suspend" his campaign during negotiations over the federal bailout plan, at least on television.

Tucked into a new report today on the campaign air wars from the Wisconsin Advertising Project is this factoid:

"The McCain campaign cut back on its television advertising in the days following McCain's announcement that he was suspending his campaign to focus on the economy. On September 24, his campaign aired 2,447 ads and on Sept. 25, it aired 1,304 ads. From September 26-28, McCain aired 302, 670, and 852 ads respectively. On September 29, the campaign returned to previous advertising levels, airing 2,687 ads."

1,304 x 30 (as in the seconds taken up by an ad spot) amounts to nearly 11 hours of campaigning. That's a longer day than he puts in when his campaign's running full-tilt. Once again, inspiring work, you droopy powder-sack!

It must be because in Alaska the daylight lasts longer, ergo 11 hours is really not that long you know. All the better really, the Governor can keep an eye on those Ruskies from her house a little longer.

The Gov. must have been spending too much time inside her tanning bed because she missed the troop movements towards Georgia. She should have warned the White House that the invasion was imminent. Shame on her.

Actually once you pay for an ad space the networks don't like to give you back your money. A lot of the ads were moved to different days but once the time has been allotted if to short a notice they will not pull the ad. So the t.v. stations bear some of the blame on this one.
