More Hatred At Rallies: "Off With His Head"

After not attacking Obama in last night's debate as forcefully as his campaign had in previous days, McCain was back on the offensive today at a rally at Lehigh University with his running mate Sarah Palin.

As seen at recent McCain events, this afternoon's crowd was vocal in their support for McCain and their anger with Senator Obama. At one point one man could be heard yelling, "Off with his head," when McCain spoke about Obama's tax plan. That enthusiasm was even more present during Palin's remarks, and as other observers have reported in the past, today there was a sizeable number of people making their way towards the exit after McCain's running mate left the podium.

The incident follows previous outbursts at McCain-Palin rallies this week.

Yesterday, a member of the crowd at a Palin rally in Jacksonville, Florida yelled "treason!" after Palin accused Obama of criticizing U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

And on Monday, a supporter shouted "Kill him!" when Sarah Palin started attacking Obama's association with William Ayers at a rally in Clearwater, Florida.

First off, we should stay calm, but firm. Let's contact our representatives and senators to speak out against these tactics, and contact the mass media to demand more responsible behavior from the candidates. I have personally emailed Senator McCain's senatorial email address urging him to take action. We should not be silent, and we cannot allow this to get any worse.

Where I went to High School, she would have been expelled for rabble rousing with lies and innuendo, let along out and out ignorance. Or is she breaking the law with slander. It's a crime!!!!!!!!

McSame and Palin knows exactly what they are doing. They are trying to win at all costs, even if they bring the country down in the process. The way I see it is, when the election was stolen from Gore, the country was angry, but moved on. I think McSame thinks it will be the same way. If they go to the gutter with O's character, really, really incite hate and tear this country asunder, they will be able to repair it. I don't think they will be able to repair it. I think they are treading in dangerous territory and this country might never recover.

By not saying anything, McCain and Palin are exercising the same tacit encouragement of crackpot extremism that Bush-41 was guilty of. Out of which sprang the flood of right-wing talk radio shows, and militias -- leading to events such as Frank Eugene Corder crashing a Cessna into the White House lawn, Francisco Martin Duran shooting up the White House in 1994, and ultimately Ruby Ridge. This plays on the same sort of pandering to madness that drove that guy to shoot up a DNC office in the south (Arkansas?), blaming "liberals" for the loss of his job, his wife and kids, and any number of other woes. McCain and Palin are just showing their true colors: Win at any cost!
