Obama: McCain Wasn't Willing To Say Ayers Attacks "To My Face" (VIDEO)

During an interview with ABC's Charlie Gibson Wednesday night, Barack Obama accused John McCain of scoring "cheap political points" with the personal attacks he had leveled at him in recent days. Speaking of the previous night's presidential debate, Obama said he was surprised McCain didn't attempt to repeat these attacks during their time on stage together:

Well, I am surprised that, you know, we've been seeing some pretty over-the-top attacks coming out of the McCain campaign over the last several days that he wasn't willing to say it to my face.

Update: Joe Biden echoes the line during an appearance on Thursday in Missouri:

"All of the things they said about Barack Obama in the TV, on the TV, at their rallies, and now on YouTube ... John McCain could not bring himself to look Barack Obama in the eye and say the same things to him," Biden said this morning. "In my neighborhood, when you've got something to say to a guy, you look him in the eye and you say it to him."

Biden, who arrived on stage in St. Joseph to chants of "Joe! Joe! Joe," urged the crowd not to be distracted by McCain claims, saying that every "false charge, every baseless accusation is an attempt to get you to stop paying attention to what's going on in this country and what's going on in your lives." And on the issues that matter, he said, McCain is offbase, particularly on his newest mortgage plan.

When this is over, we'll look back and marvel on how this campaign was run (either win or lose). This camp is on their game. What BO/JB are doing calling McCain out like this is setting him up for the debate. He's going to make Johnny Mack look him in the eye and tell the world he think he is a terrorist. Then Baracketh layeth down the smackdown. BO could drive the nail in on this alone.

Digging the TV time strategy too. Does JMc now have to cut back on spending in battleground states to to follow suit and get some prime time. Maybe it is just a ploy. You never know but one thing we know is that they thought it through. This campaign team will be in demand; that is for sure.

Damn! Did Obama and Biden just call out Grandpa? I knew grandpa wouldn't say those things to his face because he's a coward and a bully! He doesn't have the balls to say those things to Obama's face on National TV because he knows his campaign would be done before the debate ended that night!! If I was Obama ,I would go to the next town that Palin/McCain are having a rally and have one at the SAME time .Then after the rally ,in full view of the cameras and MEDIA I would confront Palin/McCain with their LIES .Tell them ,with the mic ON that they are nothing but liers and smile and turn around and walk away.! But I'm in Texas ,and we do things a bit differently here than they do in other states.When we have 'gun-fights' we usually try to let the other guy 'draw' first which Palin/McCain have done ,then 'shoot 'em down in their tracks....it's the 'guy of the streets' known as Red-Neck ' way of handling disputes .But then again ,I don't know how well Obamas city street 38 will hold up against Sarahs'Moose shooter' ,I betcha that the City boy just might win this gunfight .He's already been up against bigger gunfighters and STILL won the shoot-out (the Clintons).
