UPDATE

Media will not be allowed to cover any of Oprah's remarks, the Tribune reports:

Obama's campaign has said a pool reporter will be allowed to cover the appearances by the Obamas and the Bidens, but access to Winfrey's appearance will not be allowed.

The campaign would not tell the Tribune on-the-record why the appearances of the Obamas and the Bidens at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers events will be open to coverage, but Winfrey's will not.

Oprah Winfrey is throwing her hat back into the public ring for Obama in Chicago, Lynn Sweet reports:

Oprah Winfrey joins the lineup for an Obama fund-raising weekend in Chicago aimed at female donors at the $2,300-per-person event starting Friday.

Winfrey, Obama's pal, attended the Democratic convention, stumped in key primary states for Obama and threw a fund-raiser for him at her California estate. I think this is her biggest high profile appearance for Obama to date for the general election.

The event is organized as an "issues conference" and features Barack and Michelle Obama, Joe and Jill Biden, as well as Winfrey and other luminaries from the Obama team.

How out of touch with the American people, were those Right Wing women who called for a boycott of Oprah. How did that work out for them? Telling the people to boycott Oprah , is like telling FISH TO BOYCOTT WATER! LOL Or telling Christians to stop believing in Christ.

I getting a little tired of Oprah's "above it all" attitude. If you are supporting him, let the press cover it. Talk about elitist. Does she really think she is too good for the press.

Is it a photo-op? I thought it was a fund raising event. Why would donors need the press to contribute to a candidate's campaign?

The press has a way of taking things out ofccontext and twisting it. I can see why she wouldn't want them there. Also, this is a fundraising event, you usually don't have press there. NOT A PHOTO-OP.

The state the press in is in, now days, almost anyone is to good for it.

BTW, Oprah is not elitist , she is just the most popular woman in the WORLD!

Her show is televised in over a 156 countries everyday, in addition to 7 to 9 million people here in America.

Thank you Oprah!

For putting your support behind "that one," who supports equal pay for (women's) equal work.
"That one," who believes health care is a "right," not a responsibility.
"That one," who supports affordable student loans for college.
"That one," who is calm, cool and collected under pressure.
"That one," who is inspiring and presidential.
"That one," who is admired internationally and will bring back respect to OUR country.
"That one," who is smart, articulate, thoughtful, and doesn't shoot from the hip.
"That one," who believes in diplomacy first, and military action as the last resort.

Thank you Oprah for being bold, and unafraid of the blow-back to your career, because you believed in "that one," before the rest of us. "That one" is brilliant, and so are you.

To believe Palin had an interest in attending the Oprah show is like believing she never supported the bridge to No Where! Palin in case you haven't noticed, does not make unscripted appearances. Oprah's show is a Talk Show not a read from Cue Cards show. Palin only appears on Fox News where they drool over her mis-pronunciations and obvious lack of an ability to articulate her thoughts. Why don't they give Jerry Springer a call, I am sure his audience would love the entertainment she offers.

Palin was never asked, nor did she request to appear on the show. And for anyone watching during her initial appearance on the National stage it is rather obvious she would not appear if invited. She plays to "friendly" crowds and in no way would she appear on the Oprah show. For one, she does not answer questions OR has that important element been forgotten? If it is not Friendly Fox, Palin has no plans on attending any forum which would open her to questioning. Don't believe the HYPE! and Palin is the HYPE!

WE love you Oprah,

Thanks! Talk about putting your country first. She cares enough to stick her neck out and her ratings.

Damn the Republican "womens'" group that called a boycott of her show for not putting Palin on. How's that working for you Gals? SHE'S STILL ON THE AIR AND YOUR GUY AND GAL OR LOSING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If Palen wins, I hope she nevers goes on Oprah's show. Or never for that matter. Why wasn't Oprah wasn't upfront and just tell Palen she was supporting Obama and did not want to give Palen any exposure. What a two face. Oprah used to be above board, but now she is just a hack and afraid to say she is for Obama.

Palin is not going to win, so you have no worries. I doubt if Oprah would even want her on her show. Why should she? I hope President Obama doesn't invite either McCain or Palin to the White House either. Let them go home, take their whole pack of rats and leave us alone for a change.

I agree. Where have you been? She said that once she decided to go with Obama, she was not going to have any of the candidates on the show. That was one. The other was ... because when she has the candidates on they start talking in that campaign manner. Which they all do. So I think that it bes to have her on afterwards and for her to not get on Oprah and talk negative. People lets all from now on start reading and listening to the different shows. But more importantly go to wikepedia or google any thing that the candidates say. Go into th SNOPES.
