The presidential race is proving that in television a rousing election lifts all political programs -- especially the funny ones.

For late-night comedy shows specializing in topical satire, the rabid attention that millions of viewers are giving to the presidential (and vice presidential) contest is providing a jolt of ratings and creative energy.

BOYCOTT SNL if they allow Sarah Palin to appear. She is a race baiting, fear mongering demagogue!

The gods smiled -- so Michaels smiled back, giving Palin a GUEST APPEARANCE on Oct. 26, ten days before the election.

She refuses to do any interviews with NBC News, Today show, Meet the Press, etc., BUT she can find time for SNL.

And Michaels grovels and takes her on.

Disgusting. Email NBC, both the SNL people AND the news people, and say until she does news interviews, there's no way she gets the free advertising time on SNL.

the good news is the more independent voters see of palin the less they like her. when they see the character played by fey actually would be a better candidate than the real pallin she will have participated in her own demise.

"The Palin Thing"

You know, that's a great descriptive phrase right there.

The Daily Show has been brilliant since the conventions. SNL's political skits have been good, mostly because of Tina Fey (and Queen Latifah last week). The rest of the skits are so lame though, I almost never laugh.

I don't think the palin sketches are hard-hitting enough, they aren't tough on her.maybe Lorne Michaels will fire his staff since he is a GOP supporter.

They are worse on Obama and Biden than McCain/palin.

Dana Carvey is going nuts on Leno right now, doing impressions of the debates. He is changing characters so fast, no one can keep up - his Brokaw was fabulous, Lieberman, Wild! Best bit: showing how Cindy was descended from Arctic Wolves. He even channeled Jimmy Stewart's character from It's a Wonderful Life, the scene where Uncle Billy forgot to deposit the money and there was a run on the bank - wait has this all happened before? Johnny Mac, was he there too? And you, and you, and Toto Too. We seem to be heading back to the 30's and another Depression. Least we can laugh about it...

Doesn't Tucker Bounds just cry out for a Dana Carvey take?

Thanks for the heads up!

I SO want Carvey on SNL to do Brokaw for the debate...I always think of his impression when ever Brokaw talks.

The ability to laugh out loud at Sarah Palin instead of tearing one's hair out is a true gift from Tina Fey and SNL. Knowing the awfulness of Palin's beliefs, it helps to be able to guffaw instead of scream. What you can laugh at, you can defeat.
